Just finished watching this movie... not as bad as I thought it was gonna be but still kinda fucked up. For some sick reason I also wanted to see more come of the storyline at the end.

Worth renting just for the sick fun of it (and lots of great euro nudity)... definitely wouldn't of been worth paying at the theatre's though.

i got sucked in and forked over the money to see it at the theaters. Boobies are good, but not when you are watching it with your wife/girlfriend/other. Mine got jealous and stormed out while i finished the rest. Fight ensued afterward.

Pretty gory movie. not for the weak stomach.

What the hell? Your girlfriend has serious issues if she storms out of a movie and starts a fight over bare breasts visible in it. That's really fucked up.

What's more, when I saw it there was a family complete with a few KIDS watching it in the theater with me...
I don't see how parents take their kids to those kinds of movies. I was watching The Hills Have Eyes with my friend and good god... if you've ever seen that movie you'll know i'm not lieing when i say it is one of the most grotesque/bloody/gorry movies in this decade. Well i'm sitting there about to walk out of the movie if they would have killed the little baby in it, and i turn around to see a couple with 4 kids the oldest probably 8 or 9!

My parents brought me to movies when i was that young but never to something like THAT!

As always =/

i saw this in theatres because i was hyped over how gory it was supposed to be, that they called paramedics at the premiere cause people were puking, then the effect of EMS standing by at the theatre got me psyched more, Then i saw the movie...couldnt believe people actually were leaving puking.
It was no more gory than saw 2. And saw 2 was great.
Hostels story was ok, but the Gore was a big let down. it wasnt as gory as i expected. Its was average.

I thought Hostel wasn't that great. It was good to bring it to light. I think it was based on a website that Quintin and Eli found online. It detailed that you could pay an astronomical amount of money to shoot some guy in the head. The guy that gets shot dies knowing his family got a cut of that money, so they can survive. It's a cruel world. No one knows if it's fake or real.

Anyhow. I thought the movie was way hyped. It was still a good flick, but it sent my expectations down a bit.

It wasn't bad. I liked how some of it was done, although the story left me a bit unsatisfied.

First half = eurotrip 2nd half = gore.

I honestly thought that it was over hyped with the "ZOMG ITS SO GOREY!!!" and the whole "Scariest film to come out of america in over a decade" If that is true then you guys must make some weak films because if there was one thing it wasn't it's nice and fluffy. The second thing it wasn't is scary.

I've heard mixed, then I heard it was just plain stupid :/ So I am not gonna spend anything on it just yet.... though I am curious.. What's Eurotrip? >.>

Possibley one of the funniest films ever created. Not sure if it came out in america. Probably did.

Kinda a series of films. road trip (didn't like it too much nudity)

Boat trip (just didn't like it)

and Euro trip which is hilarious.

Anyone who has seen eurotrip agree with me about it being similar to the start of hostle?

If you watch the extra features on the DVD of Hostel you will hear Eli Roth tell the story about how this movie is loosely based on a true story.

Basically he said that they found out about some underground thing being run in Russia or something where people would pay obcene amounts of money (like 25,000 US) to shoot someone in the head (who would get a cut of the money for his/her family). The deeper Eli Roth and company researched the topic the more they realized they couldn't go any further with it because they would never find the people who ran the organization or were involved without getting killed in the process.

And so this movie was made.

I "liked" Hostel, which means I thought it was a decent horror movie but just a little too unpleasant to recommend.

The hardest part for me is that in any other horror movie I'd be rooting for the main characters to die because they're the "ugly American" idiots usually earmarked for a Jason Voorhees machete chop to the face. I can only root for them by default in this movie because there's nobody better.

I don't know. I personally found it most satisfying when he ran over the 3 people who got his friends killed and almost him. It was also sickeningly realistic when the kids caved that guys skull in.

I do agree though i usually want the idiotic americans who think the smartest thing to do when they hear chains, scratching and bloodthirstry laugher coming from a room is go in and see what is happening.
