How bout some dataminin?

Assuming that those grips with the name of weapon types aren't exclusive to those weapons, those are some bad ass grips. +3% critical hit rate, +2% double attack for melee's and +20 mp. -2 enmity for the mages. Just strengthens healing staff's lead.

You know, I JUST noticed this.... who the hell is going to fry up a fish used in the ebisu rod quest that's insanely hard to catch just to make food?

Lol, didn't know

I would think that since the hats only increase Feral Drain's success rate that you'd be able to use Feral Drain without a hat. There's probably some new piece of equipment with "Enchantment: Feral Drain" or possibly a new command (given under special circumstances like /quarry) that does Feral Drain.

I never said it didn't increase Feral Drain. I'm well aware that it increases it. I just wondered wtf they'd put it on the beastmen hats.

Of course you'd be able to use Feral Drain without it. I never stated otherwise. I just find it odd they'd putt it on the beastmen hats. It also asks the question how Feral Drain will work, since the item used to keeping the monsters locked up have no "Enchant: Feral Drain" stat (at least not the ones currently discovered). Will it be a new ability added, or what?

btw, someone mentioned earlier that its possible those rings are Rank rewards, but I kind of doubt they are, considering there's "Lieutnant" items in the .dat

Well, you get rewarded for completing a National Rank 10, namely the nation's flag. So there is reason to expect a reward for Mercenary "Rank 10" right?

Meh, Healing Staff is situational. The +50 MP only helps in the start of fights, once those 50 MP are used, both Light Staff and Templar's Mace have an advantage over it.

It is true though, that the mage grip would give both Healing Staff and Light's Staff a -2 Enmity advantage, but I wouldn't say it strenghtens Healing Staff's lead, since it never really had a big lead in the first place.

with "Rank reward" I ment the items you buy from the NPC with IS.

Either way, I read through the list again, and I'd think the reward is the Aht Urhgan flag (here's for hoping it tripples IS gain like the normal nation flags do). Its still possible that the rings are an additional reward, though.

Those rings are the reward of the last assault missions because they have special stuff in assault. The item you buy with IS have special effect in besieged.

What advantage does light staff give? +1 MND? That's a joke. Templar's at least has 5 MND, but that's only useful for a single spell that you shouldn't have to cast that often anyways. Unless you seriously jack off to your cure V's, healing staff(or Dryad's) > all other weapons for whm. The grip just cements that lead.

Healing staff is universal, templar mace is situational; it's only "better," and barely at that, for a single spell. That's what situational means.

Templar's Mace adds 7.5hp to your Cure Vs thus it's obviously superior to +50 mp.

One thing that I'm intrigued by in this update is how SE is implementing a new sort of non-traditional "set."

Those Carline pieces (it looks like there's only two "so far") are a headpiece and an earring. The Caballero set is hands and a shield. And the other two sets introduced have only two elements as well (though again, this is "so far").

I wonder how difficult it would be for SE to implement set bonuses for already existing sets though. I'd think that would be a lot more helpful than just tossing us new equipment.

According to Euphidime, it's an Exclusive item... so maybe some sort of weird quest?

God, I hope they're not weapon-specific. Enhanced Zanshin on the GKT grip? Ugh, worthless...

I am hoping someday this may happen

Was thinking the same thing when I read the names...and I don't have much time so going to have to multitask...

Do not invite Teppo to merit...2 letters sum it up:

GG

Grips arent exclusive to a certain weapon. At least, SE made it out to look like they arent exclusive.
