How 'bout this weather?

it has been hot, muggy, and altogether unbearable in S.C. When it does rain, the rains come so hard and so fast that it just runs off through the cracks in the ground.

Same thing here in GA. Not only is all the grass brown, it's so brown that when you walk on it, it just crumbles. Lawns are starting too look like sand boxes. I've lived here for about 8 years, and the past 3 weeks are the first time ever I've had the air conditioner on at night.

Weather has been fucking weird all summer in Wahington.

June and half of July it was nice weather like normal and sunny, high 80's to low-mid 90's F (believe it or not, in Washington) and two or so days it even hit 105~ F.

For the last half of July and almost all of August it has been gloomy, 50's F and pouring rain. It just recently has been normal summer weather in the 80's and crap.

Nothing serious like flooding like some of you are experience (hope you're safe!) but this is the strangest weather I have seen in the 10 years I've lived in Washington.

The weather is really fucked up, its actually nice in minnesota and that just doesnt happen.

Are you serious? Its flooding like mad in southern minnesota. I went camping from Mon-Wed and it was crazy. We almost had to leave from roads being washed out.

EDIT: It was pouring yesterday at the first day of the state fair. How depressing.

to be honest, its our fault our weather is like this, places like Winnipeg are getting storms they never have had before, tornado warnings/watches, which we totally haven't had one in Winnipeg for so many years... and more and more tornadoes wreaking havoc all over Manitoba, its climate change and global warming, its taking a toll on us now, and we are paying the price!

funny thing is, people never thought it would get this bad, but it is, like 2 weeks ago or something we had a record breaking storm, hurricane winds (breaking trees right over), millions of damage in hail and lightning cause, and many basements flooded, and that was the worst storm since 1950 something then we had our huge flood/storm (well.. the 1997 flood was bad but that was because of melting snow) but yeah, we fucked our selves over and we really gotta focus on the green house gases and shit like that

ps: FUCK YOU CHINA FOR YOUR BIG CONTRIBUTION TO THIS! ^^

Nevermind the fact that the United States consumes almost 50% of the world's fossil fuels.

All I am going to say is there are more ways for CO2 to be released into the air than just fossil fuels. I don't want to get into a Global Warming real or not debate.

Punch mankind.

Mother nature is merely trying to fix what mankind is doing.

mother nature is pms'ing on us, and wait till she really bleeds out of the fucking cunt, were gonna be fuckn screwed!

Since I moved to Vegas back in November, it has only rained 4 times. 2 of those times was within this week. The world is coming to an end. You'd be best off preparing yourself for it.

Not sure which part of North Texas you live in but in the Denton/McKinney area it has been over 100 more than 5-6 times AT LEAST in August alone. Hell, we had a brownout at my house because of the three day stretch of over 100 degree weather. August has either been nice or fkin' hot. If anything the weather normalized itself here after the month long rain.

I do live in Denton county but was going by Dallas local weather. 3 days in august and we have had it pretty good. Just doesn't seem as hot as it was these past few years. It will probably just stay hot longer in the fall though.

Yeah the weather has been fucked up in Iowa lately, course weather is always screwy here, but moreso than usual. Lotta flooding to the S and N of where I am, luckily the central part of the state has avoided the majority of the rain like there has been in the other parts.

Kinda having flashbacks to the floods of '93 we had here, but it's definitely not that bad, I hope it doesn't get like that either.

i hate floods, the 2 major floods we had were in 1950 and 1997...

The 1950 Red River Flood was a devastating flood that took place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in Canada on May 8, 1950. In that year, the Red River reached its highest level since 1861 and flooded the Red River Valley.

Over the course of four days, the water crept inexorably higher.

Winnipeg was ill-prepared for such a huge swell of water, even though it predictably followed heavy snows in the winter and heavy rains in the spring. Eight dikes gave way and flooded much of the city, turning 600 square miles of farmland into an enormous lake. The city turned to the Canadian Army and the Red Cross for help.

In the end, four of eleven bridges were destroyed and nearly 70,000 people had to be evacuated from their homes and businesses. Only one person, Lawson Ogg, lost his life to the flood but the final tally in damage was estimated at between $600 million and over a billion dollars.

The Red River Flood of 1997 was a major flood that occurred in April and May 1997, along the Red River of the North in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Southern Manitoba. It was the most severe flood of the river since 1826.

The flood reached throughout the Red River Valley, affecting the cities of Fargo and Winnipeg, but none so greatly as in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, where floodwaters reached over 3 miles (5 km) inland, inundating virtually everything in the twin communities and causing US$2 billion in damages.

In 1997 the province experienced a flood of 7.5 m (21.6 ft), which caused 28,000 people to be evacuated and $500 million CAD in damage to property and infrastructure. Called "The Flood of the Century", the 1997 flood had a probability of occurrence of about once in 100 years, and came close to overcoming Winnipeg's existing flood protection system.

Towns upriver in Manitoba, forewarned by footage of Grand Forks buildings burning and covered in metres of water, built ring dikes to protect their homes and properties, and the province of Manitoba called in the Canadian Forces, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the provincial Department of Natural Resources. Many also chose to evacuate, including residents from Morris who had only two days notice to evacuate to Winnipeg. Thousands of volunteers also helped to build sandbag dikes around homes and property. An emergency dike, later called the Brunkild Z-dike, 24 km (15 miles) long, was constructed in a matter of days when it was realized that overland flooding threatened the City of Winnipeg.

Almost all of the ring dikes around the towns held, save one-St. Agathe. The town's dike system was prepared for the river approaching from the south, but the river had spread and swamped the town from the west.

At the flood's peak in Canada on May 4, the Red River occupied an area of 1,840 km² (710 mi²) with more than 2,560 km² (990 mi²) of land underwater. Nicknamed the "Red Sea", this temporary lake forced about 28,000 people to abandon their homes. $450 million CAD in damage was caused.

so far... 10 years later... no flood yet, /cheer, well to this extent, lets hope it stays that way (because we all know its going to happen again leh sigh)

bumping

It's the end of August and it's freakin 73. There is something wrong with weather right now. I'm not complaining it's fucking breezy and beautiful out.

Dude, I know. It's so horribly nice and I'm stuck in work. D:

All this talk about floods in Ohio and Illinois..there must be some magical barrier around Indianapolis that is blocking any sort of rain from entering, since we have been in a drought for who knows how long. I'm actually doing daily rain dances to the rain gods to give us water.

Its supposed to keep going tonight. I may walk up to Mother Nature and punch her in her ovaries, because this is seriously some bullshit.
after what she did to my hometown i try to stay on her good side.

She didn't do anything. Well she did, but you have to blame New Orleans for being below sea level. When the sky opens up and lets flooding rain poor into something that is below sea level with a poor levy system trying to hold water at sea level when the city is below sea level it's bound to fail. This falls more to fault of the government for not making evacuation mandatory and then giving buses to take the poor to some where that wouldn't be struck.

I still feel terrible for the Gulf coast region don't get me wrong, and I hope you and Elph can get settle back down there completely at some point.

I'm not complaining at all Aly. This is so fucking nice my room is nice and cool. I am going to sleep so well.

I live right by Chicago, in Lake county in IN. The weather is...freaking me out. It storms terribly for like 2 weeks and then its all beautiful out. My psych. prof. actually complained about the weather being so nice. "You know what sucks? It's BEAUTIFUL out and I'm stuck inside teaching. But I can't just cancel cuz then they don't pay me." lmao

Gotta agree though, it's really weird how the weather was so horrible and now its so nice. Anyone else sensing an awkward winter?

Last winter was really awkward my school had a lot of snow days which rarely happens. I have a feeling it will be slightly warmer with less than average snow fall. OF course we could always get dumped on in February again.

Ya I made a joke because my econ teacher is canceling class Tuesday about how he probably has a tee time because of the nice weather. This got a good chuckle as he always talks about golfing. Chances are he's going to a city council meeting though.
