How 'bout this weather?

I was back home in South Carolina for Labor Day weekend and was kind of suprised to see how not-normal it looked. Hot as balls and no water anywhere. I go back to Florida tomorrow where it's somehow colder. To be fair it's normally hot year-round in South Carolina.

Also, Clemson's owning up Florida State right now. Oh yeah!

everyone seems to have a diff theory about global warming, hell 20 years ago they were telling us we'd be in a second ice age right now. It seems like meteorology is guess work alot of the time anyways, I don't really know what to believe. only thing we can really do is keep working on alternative fuel sources (Wich is a good idea for 1000 reasons even if you don't believe in global warming)

Judging by your answers, you could not care less, and have no desire to find out, which is exactly why I compared you to President Bush.

That 93 degrees in Illinois wont reflect at the Artic.

Yes because the temperature change there is much greater.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/05/02/arctic.ice/

What will effect it is the amount of sun light that gets trapped over the artic that isn't escaping from the atmosphere. Last time I checked that's a long fucking way for one air current to get from Illinois or any other state that isn't named Alaska to drift.

So you think that because your all the way over there that even if the arctic were to be set on fire it wouldn't affect you at all?

So according to your logic as long as the wind can't get to Illinois if the rest of the world is set ablaze Illinois will not see any affects at all?

Are you being serious?

Global temperature fluctuations happen all the time.

I like this statement. It's like telling you I'm going to take a shit today. You know it's going to happen but for some reason you felt the need to state that anyway.

The difference here is if the shit you take is normal, or your feel sick like somethings wrong. You could of course be like 80% of the people around the world and tell yourself "nothings wrong, nothings wrong this is normal" when your bleeding like a motherfucker all the way till you die a painfull death, or you could try and take the proactive approach.

If it were that serious of a predicament the ice caps would be melting faster than they are right now.

Please see above news article.

You want to know something interesting? The ice caps will melt gradually no matter what.

And because your all the way over there in Illinois it won't affect you at all right?

I would be more fucking worried about our sun expanding more than global warming.

Now your being proactive, thats the spirit! Now your more like Clinton.

It's funny how people 10 years ago were afraid of a hole in the O-zone,

Are you trying to say we are not afraid of this anymore? Being an avid FFXI gamer I could see how you could not be aware of this problem staying indoors so often. But skin cancer is on the rise in the outside world.

but now they're blaming the atmosphere for keeping in too much UV because of our own faults.

BEcause more UV is getting in because of the hole, and greenhouse gases are trapping the heat produced here.

So the earth is "Bleeding like a motherfucker"? I just hate it when ppl get it made up in their mind exactly whats going to happen and to go into panic mode, and then talk down to anyone who isn't in the same panic mode as them as if their blind and for some reason cant the the obvious "truth" that is your opinion. Even scientist cant agree on whats happening or whats going to happen.

Meanwhile dip shits like Al gore are raking it in hand over fist as the country gets worked into a panic, all the while hes putting out as much carbon in a single day as the average person puts out in a year. OH never mind, buying "Carbon offsets" completely fixes that right?

and then you got the peta people telling you its cattle farming thats ruining the earth, as if the Midwest wasnt covered in millions of buffalo before the settlers arrived and hunted them to near extinction.

Mother Earth is just on her mensies....that is all.

I learned about these "carbon offsets" this weekend. Evidently my dad owns 10,000 of these little buggers LOL. Some website that gives them out for free! (I forget the URL and btw, Dad works at a nuclear plant: about as green as one can get woot).

Buffalo tastes great.

I don’t know about the rest of the country but on Cape Cod this year the temp was a lot cooler then last year. I ride this trail its 40 miles each way along the coast line (Cape Cod tail trail).

Last year I did it on my bike and I used two gallons of water. I use a camelbak which holds a gallon and I had to stop and fill it half way thru the ride. It was so hot I had to stop a couple times to cool down.

This year temps on the water were like 77 with a nice breeze so I skated it. I use roces "paris" racing skates (5 wheels) which are made for long distance skating. Only used one camelbak of water and needed no stops. Sucks coming home to the city its like 15 degrees hotter and no ocean breeze ; ;

Anyone else find it cooler this year over last Labor Day weekend?

I have been telling Phishn this for years!!! He is a meteorologist and I truly believe he has a coin that he flips to determine what the weather will be like.

yeah nuclear power is pretty much the cleanest most efficient energy source at out disposable atm, an contrary to popular belief one of the safest as well. yet its always seems to be the environmentalist groups that protest the loudest anytime someone mentions nuclear energy. sure the effect of a nuclear meltdown would be catastrophic, but when done right theres pretty much 0 chance of that happening.

You're good people Thelona :-)

know what i say to those who tramp on nuclear energy?

FUCK YOU, WANNA-BE ENVIRONMENTALISTS

Nuclear Power paid for my birth, my Huggies, my food, my houses, and the car I now own. Anyone who knocks nuclear power isn't worthy of planting their lips on my ass.

Their arguments are not evidence of the danger of nuclear energy, but the dangers of allowing morons to use that power.

The fact that there was a cartoon that portrayed Al Gore as an idiot walking around looking for "manbearpig" saying "super cereal" every other word has 0 effect on the argument he presented concerning global warming.

The fact that he came from a red state and can't get them to vote blue means nothing either. People don't vote for the best man, that would require effort and understanding of the political process. They vote for the person they have been told is on their side by people they trust (parent, grandparent, etc.)

Reguardless, it's not like votes count towards anything anyway.

So tell me romper, how does a cartoon and a rapidly decaying, outdated, political process have anything at all to do with global warming?

Or were you just making fun of al gore because it seems like the right thing to do when someone mentions global warming?

where i live we have had more rain in 2 weeks then we normally have in a year

There are three absolute certainties you can count on in your life.

1) Death.
2) Taxes.
3) Romperstomper completely missing the point.

I agree a lot with Rush Limbaugh when it comes to Global Warming and stuff.

Judging by your answers, you could not care less, and have no desire to find out, which is exactly why I compared you to President Bush.

You're right I could careless because I refuse to believe someone that can't even win his home fucking state in a presidential election. This is why I instantly call global warming bull shit. It has Al Gore backing it up.

Yes because the temperature change there is much greater.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/TECH/science/05/02/arctic.ice/

I never denied that temperature wasn't rising in the world. It's a natural thing for temperatures to rise. Happens all the time last time I checked. Hell it happens frequently through out the day. For example when I woke up this morning it was a nice breezy 83 degrees out. Right now I want to take a guess (no thermometer around) 87 maybe 88 outside. Huh change in temperature is that because of global warming?

So you think that because your all the way over there that even if the arctic were to be set on fire it wouldn't affect you at all?

No because you're taking something that is so ridiculous. This would cause the ice to melt faster which would flood the oceans. Which with ocean flooding of that level would consume huge masses of land. I can't say how much to be precise, but it wont be the whole globe.

So according to your logic as long as the wind can't get to Illinois if the rest of the world is set ablaze Illinois will not see any affects at all?

I was saying that the weather pattern here doesn't effect the world's climate pattern. Where as Illinois can be effected by other weather patterns. There are times where a Canadian front drifts south cooling off Illinois and the surrounding states. Illinois doesn't have it's own jet stream that magically effects the world. What you're saying is the whole world is a blaze this would include Illinois. Lets think of this fire in the Arctic circle melting the ice. Ice turns into water that water flows into the ocean causing the level of water in the ocean to rise which cuts off the amount of land that can be burned. Also there happens to be more than one way for fire besides wind.

Are you being serious?

I said it because you seem to think that global warming is an imminent threat. Also common sense tells me if I'm shitting or pissing blood go see a doctor because chances are I have prostate cancer or kidney cancer.

Please see above news article.

And because your all the way over there in Illinois it won't affect you at all right?

No it wont effect me because I'll be DEAD. This is what I said in my first post. It wont EFFECT you. It wont EFFECT your kids. It wont EFFECT your grandkids. It wont EFFECT your parents. It wont EFFECT your grandparents. It wont EFFECT your nephews/nieces. Yes if global warming does indeed exist it will effect someone in your family, but you wont know them because you'll be in the fucking ground.

Now your being proactive, thats the spirit! Now your more like Clinton.

You do realize that the sun expands just as minutely as the ice caps melt right? It would take thousands if not millions of years for it to consume Mercury and we become the 2nd rock form the sun. Once again something that doesn't effect me so I don't care about it.

Are you trying to say we are not afraid of this anymore? Being an avid FFXI gamer I could see how you could not be aware of this problem staying indoors so often. But skin cancer is on the rise in the outside world.

Nice you now brought in the you have no life defense. I'll gladly clue you in. I haven't logged on since June. FFXI currently isn't on my laptop nor is WoW. You sound just like Dragon Ryder there. Yes part of the reason for skin cancer rising is the amount of UV rays being trapped inside. Did you include the amount of people getting skin cancer from tanning at a salon? Did you include the amount of people that don't tan with out some sun screen? It's all that nasty sun's fault right? Right.

You know I could just as easily argue the the hole in the O-zone is letting out more UV rays than the O-zone should. Unfortunately the amount of emissions world wide are much larger than the hole. Once again though I could find a way to make the argument of it's over the Antarctic circle which happens to be cold so it must be releasing more UV because you don't hear about the southern ice caps melting.

responded in quotes.

I couldn't help but think of this t-shirt..

No you're panicked about an epidemic that wont effect you in your life time or your offspring's lifetime. So why the hell does it matter to you if you wont be alive or anyone you'll know? Hell the world could blow up before global warming has a real impact.

I loved the last response to Trippy's post...The one where you said you could easily argue that the hole in the ozone layer is letting out more UV rays than it should. It really shows your grasp of knowledge about the subject matter.

THIS JUST IN EVERYONE!!!!!!

The Earth EMITS ultraviolet radiation!!!!!!

Hurray for stupid conclusions!

The Earth takes in UV rays that heat the planet they then bounce out into space. The problem is greenhouse gases are trapping in more then the amount that stays in our atmosphere. Coincidentally there's a hole in our O-zone and don't things fall out of holes as well as enter them?
