How bout this...

Should we be able to vote someone off the site?

  • Yes, lets start with Carefae and Colbwa.

    Votes: 0 0.0%
  • No, that wouldn't be fair.

    Votes: 0 0.0%

  • Total voters

Where is the "I do not give that much of a shit, only a little, but not enough for it to make me wanna do something about it" choice?

Up your ass.

JK

it should be noted that admins CAN kick people from the site and it has been done a couple times from what i gather on colbwa's end ... regardless this is an open invite for trolling and i figured you if no one else (and i say this b/c i know him irl) would be above making a thread of this nature :P

:?

Can we just re-name him Crapface. Or lil'Bitch.

That would do for me

well, I didn't really expect much flaming on this thread. Beacuse I posted it in general discussion, most of the trolls won't see it.

I made it a poll so everyone could vote and we'll tally the votes after 10 days, majority rules. I think it's fair to say that if 2/3 or more of the votes go to boot them, then boot them. If it's 2/3 that say let them stay, let them stay.

That way it won't be a big contriversial discussion, all you can say is Kick em or leave em.

That's a naive idea with ill-thought out implications. Where do you draw the huge lines that it would force? What's the cutoff percent? Who is susceptible to a vote? What counts as one vote? How long do people have to vote? How many votes is enough?

You don't like someone, so do you start a petition to get them removed? Get your shellmates to vote yes while voting no on the retaliation suit this person files against you? Does all this go on the flame board, or some altogether new monstrosity?

Banning of users has been, is, and always will be an administration role on public forums. If administration is failing that role, new administration is needed if people think it's enough of a problem. You cannot give banning rights up to a town vote. It's unprecedented in forums because it'll turn into a witch hunt and a joke of a feature. Not many people come around here that don't have a right to post here. If you can name them by name, it should remain an administration affair.

If 2/3 of all users vote someone should be gone, they should be gone.

Everyone.

Each account gets 1 vote. sure, Real Trolls will just make multiple accounts, but that's just some more shit the admins need to take care of.

10 Days on this poll.

2/3 is enough for to pass the initiative.

Not really. More like if someone is clogging up the Forums and never saying anything. Like Careface with his 500 posts in 1 month. I haven't seen him share the tiniest bit of game knowledge yet. Also, a boot poll should only be able to be initiated by an Admin.

The process of baning people in this way would get rid of most of the people who would have a group opinion instead of those of us that can actually form one for ourself.

Where the hell is Pupusa? Poor little Sabs can't admin the whole board all alone.

A forum I frequent has a "Survivor" post every month or so to trim the fat from the forum rolls. Here's how it works basically:

- The mods/person in charge of Survivor choose a number of people (usually 7-12 people at a time based on nominations by normal posters) and the first post has their names, why they're up for Survivor, and these rules.

- All votes are public. Their forum software allows people to see who voted for who, and people with X amount of posts or less (Usually 300-500, I think) can't vote or risk being a part of the next Survivor for breaking the rules. For a forum like this, you'd probably need to post your vote along with poll-voting to make things add up. Any votes without posts would be ignored.

- The poll usually stays open for 2-5 days, again, depending on number of people/mods whim.

- The #1 vote getter gets a long ban (usually 30 days+, sometimes perm), and the #2 vote getter gets a 7 day temp ban. Everyone else is warned to shape up or go right back to Survivor the next time. If there are an assload of people up for Survivor, bans can be extended for third place (5 days), fourth (3 days), and fifth (24 hours.)

You can call it a 'witch hunt' or whatever you want, but for the most part it works pretty flawlessly and it lets the worthless posters know that there are ramifications for being a waste of forum space.

If Pup were here, he would probably let the Colbwa thing go due to the fact that he seems to have "changed" his ways, even though he was banned once and came back under a new name or IP or maybe both.
Pup is usually nice about things like that, but Careface would have to add his in game name according to the rules or face at least a temporary suspension.

But the key words here are "If Pup were here"

Granted most of what these 2 have to offer here is usually less than shit, however they seem to keep their self amusing antics in the Flameboard, which I see now has become a place to utter total idiocy at random w/ out recourse .... /sigh

If it were my call, I'd say:

1) Colbwa was already banned once, makes the mods look bad to allow him back in despite his new outlook on things. If Im not mistaken when he returned under his new name, he openly challenged the mods to do something about it. So not only was he allowed to return due to the lack of admin'ing around here, but he also rubbed it in all of our faces.

2) Make Careface include his in game name, according to the rules. The whole "I like to keep you guys guessing" thing is total BS. Stand behind your words and attitude and they may hold some weight.

You can kick/ban/vote anyone off the site and still not get the results you are looking for. They will come back and they will have more ammo to throw out because you have enraged them or , and most likley, gave into them. I personally think it is the average poster that compile the majority of shit on this board. You have people like Colbwa and Careface who come on here ranting off the wall stuff then you have the children who fuel them. Why kick off Colbwa and Careface when they aren't the real problem? The "legit" posters on this board seem to be the problem. Care and Colbwa would go away if people would ignore them but no...that's just to much for their childish minds to handle. Everywhere you turn there is a fight, someone spouting bullshit, etc. etc. usually it's not Colbwa nor Care it's a "legit" poster from another LS or click or whatever. This board use to be good. It use to be full of helpful, useful, and kind information or conversations. Now it's just full of lame omgimboredsoimgonnaarguewiththisperson CRAP. The whole board needs an attitude change not just the trolls and the troll feeders. This board represents the Quetz community. If it keeps going downhill you're just making things worse for your future.

He said he was Seppeku on the first topic he posted in, and he plays on Careface the majority of the time.
