How is my base attack calculated?

Does anyone know what happens when you break the 300 barrier regarding acc and attk for 1 skill level? Some sam's have parsed the justice torque for TP build and it trumped a Peacock Charm, +10 acc. With full great katana merits, a bushinomimi your skill is 297, add in Justice Torque and you are at 304. I am led to believe the equation changes beyond 300 skill. Peacock Charm +10 acc should be > 7 skill X .9 = 6.3 acc from Justice Torque.

The problem here is it's not just 2 numbers going Head to head. There's a few different Challenges on Attack and Skill.

Accuracy:
c1: Dex vs. Agi
c2: Weapon Skill vs Evasion Skill.
c3: Accuracy vs. Evasion.

etc...

How those numbers interrelate is above me, but the Sea Torques, For accuracy, will trump out a Peacock charm due to it's challenge deeper in the equation. I believe its been tested to death, but as of this moment i can't find the damn article/post.

If you wanna look for it, some ninja tested Sea Torque vs Gorget on WS and Sea Torque vs Peacock Charm on melee hits. The assumption was that the 7 Attack form the Sea Torque would be a good Sacrifice for the -3 Accuracy, but he found he had Higher Accuracy as well as Higher attack, but his WS were better witht the Breeze gorget.

I've seen the test Phraust is talking about, but cannot find it either. The only thing I can find right now is Ryukenshen's tests with Justice Torque and Sea Gorgets. I'll admit they're very crude tests, but still worthwhile info.

edit: you might have to scroll down a bit. Sometimes the URL takes you right to the gorgets post, and sometimes it doesn't =/

Is there a base accuracy?
Is there a way to tell how much DEX adds per point? Like is it in the memory that people from the good ol' windower forums found?

There is presumably a base accuracy of 8 as well, but I don't know if that's ever been said for sure. I do know that there was a long period of argument about accuracy issues because there was no way to actually check your character's accuracy. SE eventually admitted that your accuracy is based on the sum of your weapon skill and your DEX/2, just as attack is STR/2. Ranged accuracy also follows this rule with AGI/2, as per SE's admission about one year ago.

So, when it all works out, you've got:

Attack = 8 + weapon skill + STR/2 + atk traits + atk abilities + atk gear + food effects
Accuracy = 8 + weapon skill + DEX/2 + acc traits + acc abilities + acc gear + food effects
Ranged Attack = 8 + weapon skill + STR/2 + ratk traits + ratk abilities + ratk gear + food effects
Ranged Accuracy = 8 + weapon skill + AGI/2 + racc traits + racc abilities + racc gear + food effects

Now admittedly I'm uncertain as to whether there is a base accuracy of 8, but since that is the case with attack it would seem a reasonable assumption. Also, I'm pretty sure there's no actual abilities that can give you ranged attack. I'm pretty certain there are only those that give ranged accuracy implemented. Nonetheless, that's the general rule.

What I'm saying is not likely what is dealt with at really extreme conditions in which really huge numbers are involved. This model remains accurate within the tests I have performed on it, but I've never had wild endgame gear, nor have I ever performed extensive parsing tests to prove that this is the case. I'm just hoping that SE was truthful in their admission about the effects of stats on accuracy.

thanks plenty :3 Guess its a bit too vague to really put too much thought into it given all the unknown modifiers.

Technically it's not... I mean there are people out there who parse for hours and days and months to prove these numbers, but the amount of raw data and statistics that needs to go into such a proof is plainly disgusting and I want nothing to do with it.

At the very least, if you're dealing with accuracies that get up into the 200s, 8 points isn't a critical difference. I mean, an error of 8 points or less still matters, but it's not something to really worry about that much.

May I also make a side note about how this thread makes me think that the quality of the average player on Quetz has dramatically improved since about a year ago. Many useless tools have probably quit, and the population seems to have thinned out to be composed of (apparently) more inquisitive, investigative, analytical types. Do you have any idea the kind of shit that I had to go through back in the day to try to prove to someone even a simple point about stats like the former? Man. It was nasty. Shows that with age, the elite community really starts to come through.

I say this because I went through the same phase of analyzing the combat system to the best of my abilities and figuring out its intricacies at one point. It's what made the game truly fun. It gave be scientific pursuits to follow that would yield better and better practical results, the more I had learned and the more I made use of my knowledge. So, have fun figuring things out. If you enjoy doing it, it can be as much fun as playing the game itself.

You are now someone I admire. Thank you for giving me a QCDN member to look up to. :nyam:

Berserk acts the same for Ranged Attack as it does for Attack. Also, the job Trait Attack Bonus from subbing /war gives 30 ranged attack as well as attack.

Ranged accuracy you get from JA Sharpshot, and the Rng job trait Accuracy Bonus boosts your normal + ranged accuracy.

Actually, since I didn't add it in, but I think it should be mentioned. Defense was arguably the most difficult to determine:

Defense = 8 + main job level + (main job level - 50) + VIT/2 + def traits + def abilities + def gear + food effects

Now, the second term << (main job level - 50) >> applies only if your main job level is larger than 50. So for each level up to 50, you recieve 1 additional point of defense, and every level 51 or higher you recieve 2 additional points of defense. I'm not sure if this holds after level 60 or so, because I think I worked this out when I was level 50-something, but it works at least up to that point.

I fail. lol. I played RNG/WAR for that very reason for quite some time and somehow I managed to forget that. I guess it just has been too long. I really need to get back into the game and play again. I'm counting the days until april 17th, when I get out of school.

I don't think I deserve admiration for my way of looking at the game. I always aimed to be a repected player, and to break tradition plainly to prove it's feasible, but I never thought it would amount to admiration. The only thing I ever wanted to see was people thinking for themselves instead of blindly following trends with no idea of the big picture behind them. I'm glad to see that my way of thinking is held in high regard, but the fact alone that you are investigative enough to work through your stats scientifically is enough for me to respect you as a player.

That goes for anyone who thinks this way. Testing and experimentation, skepticism and some intuition for optimization go a long way and I highly respect anyone who uses these skills well.

Combat Skills are also involved. Im probably wrong, but I think for every 1 skill you have in a weapon, you get +1 attack and +1 acc. Do not quote me on that though, lol, because I am most likely wrong, but combat skills DO have a part.

Yeah i was told something similar to this in regards to merit
