How is your Japanese coming?

Heehee, this just kinda sprang into my head after reading a couple posts. Does anyone else type "w" now instead of "lol"? I do sometimes. I even think it when something funny happens.

I also try and learn a new phrase anytime I can. Learned a few thanks to Yanzi, though I forgot the "thank you for party one ; ;. I even typed that like 10 times just to make sure. Got a good chuckle when I typed "fu~" in my party today. The guy that caused the comment was like "WHO?!". Of course he thought I was saying "F**k You", but in reality, according to Yanzi, that is a /sigh kinda thing.

I kinda like that just about EVERY JP player can speak passable english. Helps me learn a lil better. Also embarrases me coz there is probably a very very small group of people who can speak Japanese. Though I AM still waiting for that party of French people to invite me so I can show off w.
 
yea... I thought about taking JPN, but they would not let me take it with my major because it is one of the hardest languages on earth to learn. That being said I do know a few phrases, I have a bunch written down but rarely consult them...

English is also one of the hardest languages on earth to learn. You've got that down right? Then Japanese shouldn't be killer. I'm planning on taking it myself eventually, once I get the money together for college courses...
 
I was a language major in college (onehellofalongtimeagosodontask). At one time or another I've studied french, italian, german and even two terms of Japanese. I actually found japanese to be easier to learn..there seem to be fewer exceptions. Unfortunately...like anything else if you don't use it you lose it...so i've forgotten pretty much everything i've learned. If i get the opportunity though I'd love to take it again....not because of FFXI...but because I think it's a beautiful language.

Si je ne peux pas parler le japonais au moins je connais bien mon français (C'est ma langue maternelle)

Though i may not speak japanese, at least i got my french down ( It's my mother tongue, yet its starting to sound wierd to myself i dont speak it ever anymore.)

Hehe. I could understand most of that you guys wrote. I could never formulate a coherent sentence like that as I have only taken 2 years in high school and a term in college, but I can understand plenty given enough time. Now to just get into a party so I could have fun actually knowing a lil bit. Though i'm sure i'd get jokes waaaaayyyy later and theyd mostly have me as the butt end hehe.

we all become paranoïd in this kind of situation. I know for a fact that I can't help myself thinking they're sometimes making fun of me in an all JP party :)

Faedryth, I'm not on very often these days but I'll get to you in-game if you want to have fun in french ;)

Don't worry, most of the time they are -_- from my experience.
 
yeah i thought of learning Japanese
until i found this website that was most likely made by a FFXI racist unilingual noob
and it was all like don't try to learn japanese its way too hard and crap
But it sounds fun
I've learned a bit of korean and chinese
so that should help
And i think i've found my Saturday morning internet search
