Well i was just in a party in Crawlers Nest and we were going pretty smoothly, i popped my exp ring and food at the start of the party. Then about 20 min in i get kicked from the server and when i try to sign back in, it gives me the message that i am already logged in and to wait a few minutes.

So i wait and i make it back in about 6-7min, when i get back they are all sitting there and i say sorry guys and whatnot. The ldr then informs me, well you were gone longer than 5 minutes so we replaced you.

Now i'm wondering am i in the wrong to be a little pissed off here? i mean longer than 5 mins, but common i was 1-2 min longer. And in this situation would you tell the person otw that the member that d/ced has returned?

What's your thoughts on this?

edit: i can't type >.>

for me i usually wait 5-10 minutes for a pickup party. before i start searching but if the member comes back and the person that i asked to come party is still close to a town or whatnot i will send them a tell saying the person that has D/C'd is back and that im sorry

5 minutes seems pretty unreasonable for me, but I guess it depends on how soon in the party's been going. I usually try to give people 10-15mins myself, knowing how crappy the server's stability/login issues can be.

Because look at it this way, i understand the sooner you inv the sooner the rep will arrive. But when i made it back they all sat there for probably another 5-10 minutes for the replacement to arrive.

And if i was back 7 minutes after, unless that replacement was in a big rush to leave, they probably would've still been in town, or at least on a choco. And when the choco is 187gil it's not that huge a loss to turn around.

For most people, they dont care about who they party with, they just want the EXP, which is why they only wait for 5 min. However, I personally wait for 15 minutes, because that exact thing has happened to me before.

i just DC 2 times in under 5mins and its being an ass to me second time loged in my auto would not work all i see was " )"

Kire just made the most usefull post ever... TOTALLY regarding the topic...

Kire, the question was HOW LONG? Not "How many times does Kire DC a party" tyvm stop posting please.

edit: To the OP, It seems the usuall wait is 10-15 min before asking for another player to come out.

If it's a friend I'll wait till he/she comes back, no matter.
If I'm in a exp-pty without friends, I guess 10-20mins at
a minimum. Usually it's possible to continue with 5 membs.

On a side note, people who goes afk without informing
will get a /slap after 2-3 mobs then a big boot after the
5'th. (Then just wait 10-20mins and get a rep if the afk-
person does'nt return.)

I usually wait 10-15 min for someone who D/c's, if they come back i will tell the rep the person came back and say sorry.

see this does seem to be pretty one sided... /sigh haha oh well, i just wanted to see what other people did/thought of this.

Honestly, Nolie, it depends on if I know the person, the flow of the party, or even so much as how well they have played in the party thus far. Sometimes you can get an idea on if they're coming back or not. Only occassionally has someone d/c and come back when I figured they were not. If it is someone that I don't know and they've d/c'd and I have reason to think they might not return I start looking for a replacement the instant they left. During that time that they're gone I'll start looking at what's available and even so much as lining up a possible replacement. If its a hard job to fill I want something lined up as fast as possible-- but will say something to the effect of 'hey our member has disconnected and should they not return, would you be willing to replace them?' Ten minutes or so passes, and then I can have them enroute.

This sittuation that you were in-- eh, it's CN.. so, yah, I'm not surprised. They were pretty harsh in acting so hastey and should have told the replacement that you returned. I'll admit, that sometimes the grace period in the lower levels is a lot smaller than higher levels.

Depends on the job of the person who DC's. If the PT can still kill stuff without them, they get 15 minutes. If they are a critical member I start looking at 5min and actually send the invite at 10min. If they sucked, I start inviting immediately.

i suppose i just expected maybe a little more patience or curtsey as the player was an experienced one at rank 10, and i feel i was pulling my weight as blm in that pty.

Also the exp was going pretty good, also a reason it upset me haha cause good exp ptys at lower lvls don't come along alot

When I'm leading, I try to talk to each person and get a feeling for how they are. If they're a person who seems apathetic towards others and would D/C and leave party, then they get 10 minutes. I'll wait 20 minutes if it seems like a good person. 10-20 minutes may not seem long to you placed in the situation, but keep this in mind: It's 18.5% of an hour at 10 minutes. 33.3% of an hour at 20 minutes. That's a high percentage of time dedicated to the faith in a single players; when you know you have options.

10 min untill I will start looking, cause it takes me about that to reset my internet here and then get back online.
