How many of you are planning to play FFXIV?

haven't found any good translations yet but a people are suggesting different "stances" (like MNK's footwork i guess)

I plan on playing FFXIV and am hoping that some of my old friends from Quetz will join me. First time on QCDN for a really long time to see if any familiar names are still hanging around and if there is going to be a movement to get on the same server in XIV.

I remember the old days, when I was but a newly level 73 or so purple PLD, and some crazy Dynamis LS leader threw me to the wolves ( or the Goblins at least ) in Dynamis-Jeuno...

I have pictures of me standing on a pile of bodies somewhere...

i got beta but still waiting on it to allow alpha testers to download :/

I really want to judge the system far more before I decide to commit to FF14 in its long-term.

Really looking forward to XIV but makes me want to go back and play XI and relive the glory days.

Fun with Foo!!! :)

Trust me when I say those days are long gone and cannot be imitated. :( Level Cap 99, what?

Ironically, that's part of what's keeping me in the game at the moment. For me the glory days of XI came long before I hit 75, back when people really didn't know all that much about the game, and there was still a lot to figure out. Now it all feels very rote; the only mob in the game that doesn't have a fairly straightforward strategy to beat is AV, and I suspect that SE will be raising the level on that bastard just to fuck with us.

Besides, raising the level cap may, depending on how they handle all the Abyssea stuff, give the gear elitists screaming fits, and I just have to be around to see that.

I played XI from 2003 until 2007, and I had tons of good times. I'm really happy they are keeping the old races and new races highly similar; it's great too that stats for races apparently won't matter as much either, therefore giving us the ability to customize ourselves in sync between stats and appearance.

I'm likely to try out XIV although I'm not 100%...Maybe 90% or so.

I'd really enjoy playing with familar faces and friends while being open to meeting new people since that's part of what the MMO experience is all about. Hopefully there is a Quetzalcoatl server, but if not then maybe we can settle this in some kind of vote here on qcdn. Winning vote gets the qcdn stamp of approval. Just throwing my ideas out there until the server names are released.

And although they've said it, I hope they mean it when they say XIV will be more friendly to casual players. Unlike my time with XI, I now have a home, wife, and baby. I'm not even arguing casuals can do everything, just that the market for us to enjoy ourselves is there. Even if it's not, I'd probably settle for being a low end character just to experience the game-world if the community is of great quality there like it was for XI.

My decision on this is heavily gonna hinge on what the gameplay is like during the alpha/beta stages. I have gotten more excited about this since more info started coming out though. So I'm changing from a no to a maybe <_<

I will, most likely, try it. If anyone remembers me and cares, I'll head straight for a server named Quetzalcoatl .... if they have one.

Interesting tidbit; There seem to be emotes for 10 character races in the .dat's. And the character selection screen supposedly offers the following;

Hyur male
Hyur female
Lalafel male
Lalafel female
Elvaan male
Elvaan female
Miqo'te Female
Galka male
Barb male (unknown)

So, there's a possibility there's 2 unreleased races. Barb (male only), which leaves us with 1 unknown. Gria perhaps? I'm not in the alpha, so I haven't agreed to an NDA yet :P

Edit: So, apparently the "Barb male" is Highlander, which can only be played as Male. So it appears highlanders use separate emotes and armor designs then? This is strange, though, as this could mean Duskwight/Wildwood elezen are split in to two separate races with their own emotes, too, but that would bring us 11 different emotes. So perhaps the 10th is Mitqo'te split in two?

Also, female Galkas exist, but it doesn't state they are playable. Male Miqo'te exist too. But, again, are not playable.

I think they are going to release another race with two tribes based on the whole god/goddess 12 theme they have going on in the story.

You know, that makes sense. 6 races, one leaning towards "north", second towards "south" (as they said poles would matter. Read: light/dark)

You know what makes me happy?
They've apparently separated Taru/Lalafell males and females in the .dats.

They have a Luck stat.

I'm so doomed.

<-- unlucky
