How many of you are planning to play FFXIV?

For those few who remember, most of the Dragon Ash people are planning on coming back for XIV.

yo glide! make sure you guys keep signing up for the alpha & beta tests, they are sending out invites continuously (seems to be about once or twice a month)

currently have a F Lalafell, "Pristine Loxley"

Physical Level: 14
Archer Level: 16

Don't expect a game similar to FF11 if you're using that as a criteria to whether or not you'll play 14, the two games are about as different as two MMORPGs could be

I want to hear more about this. In my mind I compare everything to XI.

I know what you mean. FFXI was my first MMO so every MMO I've played since has been on a comparison to XI. I'm interested in hearing the differences as well.

We have all kept a sharp eye on the development of the game, so we have about as much of an idea as you can have at this point. I don't think any of us expect a pure sequalesqe game. I personally look forward to the merging of a brand new type of MMO with the familiar faces of the Final Fantasy franchise we have all poured so much of our time into.

We are all signed up for the beta, and we are trying to stay in contact w/ some of the OG players such as Slacker, Jiles, Sparky, Durian, BJ, Jonas, Minas etc. so everyone is on the same page. We'll also be bringing a handful of ex-FFXIers from other realms that we have met along the way; and some "new to the franchise" people.

Anyhow, I'm excited to be coming back. All my MMO accomplishments post FFXI have yet to top the feeling that I got from this game.

really wish they would allow account transfer to the new ff

Well my 5-6 ish year PC died. Before that I was thinking "No" on FFXIV as I'd have to buy the PS3 version. My family uses it a lot for Netflix, or just wants the tv. I couldn't do that to them.

Now, My PC died and I have a new one on the way in the mail. Tonight I briefly considered FFXIV since I'd have a new PC. I just can't say goodbye to my character. I came a long way but there is still a TON of stuff I always wanted to do but couldn't. Now with level 99 and uncapped COP, I think there is a chance for me to solo my way into a good percentage of that missed gaming.

I think I'll stay with this one. I can't play both; not enough free time for me.

That's perfectly fine, but I feel that if FFXIV is going to be as big of a hit as I think it is, most XI players might get sucked into the freshness of a next gen FF MMO, including you.

I'd suggest deciding when the game is out, it might be something you're into.

What I would really like to know is how many people who have stopped playing ffxi a long time ago are going to play ffxiv. I've been out of the loop for going on five years now, and I'm going to be picking up xiv. I'd be interested to see how many in my old linkshell play.

it actually brought me back to xi heh( i got accepted into the alpha, and due to that renewed my xi account). To be honest though the games are very different, they do feel very similar in terms of atmosphere... and i think for a lot of us that will be a big sway. Though now that i'm back in xi i think i'm gonna play both like i am now(or eh was since alpha jsut ended). I'm enjoying it a lot again T_T

I for one have not played any MMOs in quite a long time and I am very much looking forward to this release. I've never played a game since launch.... SOOO exciting.

I'm excited for this game to come out! My computer is hooked up to my 50" plasma along with my ps3, so either system is fine by me. I'm curious why everyone keeps talking about how the battle system isn't all that great in ffxiv. I never thought anything was wrong with the battle system in ffxi, but seeing as they are implementing ways to make soloing easier and the ability to party with fewer people more plausible is very intriguing. I will say though, I made a lot of friends through parties in ffxi, and I always enjoyed meeting up with new people to conversate with during those grinding level sessions.

because the battle system that was in place in alpha had a good idea, but was kinda slow, but the redesigned version for beta they showed off at E3 looks 100% better, I'm psyched about the new battle system, and from what I've seen it'll blow XI's away.

it WAS that there was no auto attack, only skills you gotta click and activate, but your main one is on a cooldown so it almost felt like XI with no auto attack and only slighty more class skills. now, there still no auto attack, but your main attack uses power from a bar that constantly fills up and lets you get off more then one attack before going empty, so its like your main class skill replaces auto attack, you just gotta keep clicking it.

I wonder if that will make it harder on people to play multiple characters, since their will be more activity required to battle...That is, if I am understanding correctly that you have to press a key each time you want to attack.

It depends on how forgiving the game will be to casual players. Some serious solo potential would be great, or something I can pick up and play with a couple of friends. If it takes 6-18+ people, and an investment of several months to really get anywhere then I don't think I can do it.

It seems like a lot of people want a more casual environment game, yet have any of us realized that we are 8 years older? Now their is a new bread of gamers arising that haven't experienced the addiction that ffxi offered, wouldn't it be wise on SE to utilize that new up and coming market with their new game? Look how many years it took to get them to break away from needing a full party for any sort of decent xp/hr and then try to answer that question. I hope that the game applies to casual users as well; but when you look at the economics part of it, it really makes more sense for them to make a game that involves more hours to accomplish a specific task.

That's not even a second thought,

of course I'll be playing FFXIV and keeping my FFXI account just incase :P
