Aye, Aye! Och... Aye!
Kinda like the time this 60-something year old homeless guy who my dad let stay with us for one month because he was an old friend (Don't ask...). He was talking about how he heard a story about this one... well... EverQuest Junkie.
Apparently, this guy was a high-level Necromancer (I'm not sure; I never really got into EQ. Despite having bought it, I never bothered to play it), and he had a pet that he had raised to a really high level, or something to that effect. Anyway, one day, this geek's pet dies. Dies for good. Grieving over the death of his little NPC, the guy actually sticks the barrel of a shotgun in his mouth, and pulls the trigger.
Committing suicide over an NPC?!?! Come on now!!
I don't know if that ol' hobo was bullshittin' me or not. But I think something like that is comical.
But anyway, I'm just waiting for someone like <Insert Random Name Of Person Being Flamed On The Flame Board> to pull that kinda crap. I'd find that hilarious, pathetic, and depressing at the same time.

The moral of the story is... well... uhh... I think SQUARE-ENIX put that disclaimer up there for a reason just like that. And yes, you're right. A "Lawsuit Issue"... My little "story" is a prime example of that.
Think of it this way...
SQUARE-ENIX (Unlike certain video game companies... *Cough*Gravity Corp.*Cough*) actually GIVES a shit about it's consumers. I mean, if we were all Beastmasters for no apparent reason one day, and we all get to a really high level (Like... Hypothetically... If Genkai 10 was out yet or something) and then we all got the ability to use Behemoth, Manticore, & Cactuar Familiars (Which would rock), then they died and all the Auction Houses sold out of them for good, then we all committed suicide... SQUARE-ENIX would end up losing money (Again) and this would be the SECOND highly anticipated Final Fantasy to become a major bomb (The "Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within" movie).
So... As long as we keep dishin' out the dough. SQUARE-ENIX has got our backs. Of course... Lord knows that's why they pushed the responsibility of schooling new players (Or as Villarel used to call them in our early days: "Initiates"... LOL) on us... And thus "Mentoring" was born.

Funny how I always have a little "story" to tell when I do big posts like these, huh?
