Xbox360 How many repairs have you had?

How many times have you had to send in (Repair) your Xbox 360?

I've had two repairs. The night I bought my first 360, I had a black error message upon cutting it on for the first time, telling me to contact customer service. Seeing as how it was 3am, I didn't, and it eventually worked...for a while.

When I went to send it back the second time, the guy at UPS just laughed when I told him what was in the box, saying he must have seen every 360 owner in my tri-county area by then.

Anyway, after the second repair, it started to overheat every 30 minutes, so i just gave it away and bought a newer one with an HDMI connection. I've had a few problems with it, but so far, so good (I've had this one for almost two years). /knockwood.

Your title assumes that people have had at least one failure and is cataloging how many multiple failures people have had; versus just seeing how many units have failed, which is what you're inferring in your post that Skaw and I responded to.

Your logic challenges the existance of zero.

How many Xbox 360 repairs have I had? Zero. It's a valid answer.

And your attitude that it is a worthless topic because the newest model has solved the RROD problem isn't 100% wrong but it's not 100% right either. It's true that we can't use overall numbers to determine the reliability that a new potential buyer might want to look at. It's irrelevant to them how the older models fair, assuming they are buying it new. Though bitter old debaters who tried to point out the reliability of the 360 "back then"(in the olden days of 2007), do like to be proven right in retrospect.

I wish I could vote again. My second Box bricked tonight...

That sucks.

I think my second one is on its last legs. The other day it froze and shut down, which is what it did last time it died. Afterward it seemed to work fine, but now I'm nervous about using it.

My third one has been scetchy. I'm hoping it lasts. Really don't want to be forking out so much more cash ; ;

I wish mine would have even given me a warning... It worked perfectly fine for 3 hours, no signs of anything wrong. I go to class and come home 2 hours later and when I boot it up I'm greeted with one red light and the E74 error screen. It had ran like a dream until this point, no problems at all.

Luckily they extended the warranty in April of 2009 for the E74 for another 3 years. Still sucks though, since Borderlands came out just the other day I had to shell out the money for a new Arcade version.

Mine did the same thing. Different error but it happened without warning. One day it works great then I played some star ocean the next day and the screen went blue on me and then it would freeze up whenever I restarted it, eventually showing the 3 red rings.

The replacement xbox I just got had a weird error. I shut the system off and I had the charge kit in there so it kept running as it was charging it. I unplugged it to completely shut the system off and it still kept running. So I unplugged the power supply and plugged it back in and left it at that. With the system shut off the 3 red rings started blinking. I push power to test it and it didn't turn on at first, it just stopped the rings from blinking. Then I push power again and everything worked normal and haven't had any problems as of yet. I'm happy that its working, espically since I just got it replaced about a month ago but I still wonder what that was all about.

11 repairs and counting

We have 2 xboxs, and both happen to be pieces of shit :P. Believe me, it's tempting to say "fuck it, I'm not going to use their pieces of shit any more", but with that you throw away all the games you've played, you play now, and if you want to continue gaming, have to fork out for a glorified blueray player.

The same thing happens every time, I've NEVER had a RRoD. A few months into the xbox's lifetime, on the menu where you can pick "play game", it says "open tray" as if there's no disc in. Usually when this happens, I'll sit for 30 minutes opening and closing the tray until it works. As time goes by, it takes more and more open/closes for it to work, until finally it won't work at all. This happens with old games, new games, DVDs, everything.

Hence the slight jealousy when people say they're still on the xbox they got 6 years ago without any repairs ><

Holly hell, sell those two while they still work and stop playin' on refurbs! Go get some of the newer models and see if they can't keep you goin' for at least 2 years a piece.

Hey, is it normal to have to reinstall ffxi when you do a repair?

This is kinda annoying, wtf is the point of a hard drive

I put the ever-cliched "nail in the coffin" of number 8 with a boot to the side, 2 hours I sat trying to play FFXI while that fucker told me varying nuggets of information, from "Open Tray" to "To play this disc, put it in an XBOX 360 console." Apparently it morphed from an XBOX into a toaster without first consulting my good self.

the open tray issue is of two factors, A dying laser or the most common, your pot calibration became un calibrated.
The pot is calibrated by two small screws, one for DVD one for GAME. this can happen by moving them from vibration, the motor in the drive can rumble them loose etc. While its smart to send in for repair under warranty, i just dont have the patience and i recalibrate it myself for free and the total time of a few minutes.

Any of my friends who have had needed repairs, bring them to me. I do my work and they never have an error again, i just wonder what the hell it is MS does when they repair these things thats causing them to break time and time again, my repairs take me about 30-45 minutes and i havent had a single person have a problem again.

I buy broken systems from those who simply dont want them anymore, add 5 dollars for the parts ill need, fix, jack up price, resell. heck my friends even buy broken boxes just to have me fix them so they can have multiple consoles for different rooms.
Maybe MS should hire some better techs!

So, that new console I bought in October broke tonight. Got the same E74 error... This was the newest model of console you can get too (it had the smaller power supply). Kind of pissed me off considering how MS is now saying their newer versions are fixed. I actually believed them but my old console outlasted my new one by a span of over 2 years. Good thing I didn't sell off my refurb when I got it back.

Mine's reaching 2 years this month, and I never had any problems with it. :)

(After posting this see it go dead in the next 3 months)
