I think I got mine in 2002 or 2003, its a version 1 and its still going strong! :bb:

Day 1 of us release, waited in a line at wal-mart to get one. Still works just fine.

On an interesting note, I've had both a Wii and an Xbox360 crap out on me and have to be replaced. Never owned a PS3 so can't comment there.

No lie.. I am on my like... 6th PS2... At some pointin each of their lives 3 of them just stopped reading disks. 1 stopped reading the blue disk games only. 1 would not play DVDs ever... Then it just died. The one i have now is a refurbished one, and has last me the longest out of all of them. Like 3 years now.

I had my original PS2 until I upgraded to a PS3. Got it the day of release after waiting in line for a long time and lasted me the whole time.

still on my original fat PS2..

Playing DVD's in the PS2's can make em crap out much earlier than normal, as will any other console that plays dvd's/cd's.

Ive only ever had 4 consoles crap out on me, each for a good reason.

NES because it was overplayed...

SNES because it fell off of the entertainment center and broke a huge chunk off the side, and ripped the inlet for the battery cable out. Still worked, if you messed with it

N64 because it also fell

Gamecube because it was in the Den, which had a fireplace. It was practically right next to the hearth, which I know is stupid, but wasnt my choice. Sucked in a ton of dust.

HEYZ, NOT A SINGLE SONY CONSOLE! Lol.

Could be my reason for so many PS2 fails. It was my main DVD player for a long time.

I recieved the original fat PS2 for my 16th birthday along with a copy of Gran Turismo 3 (the bundle pack). I loved that thing and was sorely disappointed when i got the disk read errors on all my games.
After that i could only play FFXI and when i switched over to PC i stopped playing it. However when i saw the slim ps2 selling for $100 i jumped on the chance havn't stop using it since.

I got mine I think within a year of their release. It's lasted all these years and through many, many hours of gaming marathons without any trouble at all. <3 my PS2!

Like most people I know, I'm on my original PS2, from early spring of whichever year the bloody thing came out. On an amusing note, it also functioned as my only DVD player for most of its lifespan, and never had so much as a hiccup.

ive had mine since 2002. lots and lots of hrs logged into it, i played for 2 years of ffxi on it till i quit. it was on for 2 days straight when i was trying to beat the challenge of the gods in god of war 1. only had a dre once and all i did was slam my hand on the top and it has worked great ever since.

I'm on original EU release day PS2 no problems at all. I'm also on EU release PS1 (hate playing PS1 games on PS2 for some reason). I've only had 2 consoles break. NES which just stopped working, and my Mega Drive that literally went up in a puff of smoke.

Edit - I should also note my PS1 spent abut 10 days on non-stop once (back when I got the PS1 mouse and transport tycoon)

2002, but the mod chip, dvd/cd laser adjusting and 1 yr running on a transformer finally killed it. Plays ps1 games sometimes and will not read a dvd for more than 1 min. Wanted to play Tc3 again :(.

from day1 release until about a year ago when it tried to go down the stairs without me carrying it. Replacement still works fine (slim one)

Also on PS3 #1 with no errors ever, except the common Warhawk Beta freeze.

I had a second-gen (PT) series PS2 until the HDD came out, then I picked up the third/final gen online kit (PX). Had it for about four years, still works great. If/when it dies I'm gonna pick up a Slim.

I still have my 1st PS2 about 4 years after having it since Christmas 2002 ^^

I still also have my original PS1, NES and such lol =D

I'm on my second PS2, sold the first one because there had been a really long dry spell of no good games coming out and I was getting pissed.

Bought a second-gen Ps2 from my brother back in 2003 and I'm still using it, even after all those long hours on XI, it's still runnin. Don't know how long my brother had it.
Back in May of this year I had a problem with it though. The laser focus was fucked up and it wasn't playing anything other than brand new near-perfect games. To fix it I had to open the case and adjust some screw a tiny little bit to raise the laser. It was an easy fix, and since then it hasn't given me any problems, works like new.

1 1/2 years after release
