How SE supports gilsellers

Killing Scorps(anywhere) for claws is another viable route to 60. Lightning + Claw = Venom powder, which can be saved for making Venom potions for yet more skill on down the road.

I feel your pain, though :P

When you waste 1.5m on Hi pots then you can bitch, till then hush up <_<

When you waste 1.5M before getting to 60 on one set of skill up synths, maybe you should rethink your process......

Makes no difference except break rate.

I disagree, I always found levels under cap to be important, if hes 58 and getting 3 level support then that puts him at 61. Now i can ramble off a bunch of stats and im not going to check the crafting threads. But ive done enough to notice a difference.

In fact, when i was leveling smithing if i hit a really good streak and gained a level, i found that the streak would continue if i stripped a piece of crafting gear.

Im not going to say to take this as gospel, but i was very successful when i went with the patterns that I observed, and will give it as advice to anyone.

Personally, I've never noticed a real difference. I've had all manner of streaks with and without imagery.

This morning, I get up, restock on all but vines, go to guild hall in Bastok, get in the right position, get the guild image support at all times, and go to town.

Don't get support within 3 levels of cap.
Dont craft with water crystals on Windsday or Iceday. What day were you crafting on?
Were you facing west when you did the synths?

Tha saddest part is that you weren't farming the vines. It was the easiest thing to steal vines in Rola. as has already been stated.

Guild prices suxxors. I hear that. Farming those was the only way to go.

Think it's worse that one could whine about not getting ups off of 1k synths. Someone's never heard of my friends named Green Ribbon and Silk Headband.

Always take the guild support, even if you are 1 level below the cap, it won't slow down your skill-ups but it will lower your brake rate.

The route I took for alchemy until 60 was the venom dust with either scorpion claws ( 2 claw+1 shell drop 100% from Mushushus in CN) or better with monke-Onke ( fished them up easilly in saruta). Hi-potion are just a pain for not being stackable.

Actually, it will slow down your skillups if you take synth support within 3 of the cap.

Here's the calculation: (source: wiki.ffxiclopedia.org topic: Crafting Skill Ups)

Skill Cap - Your Skill - Sum("The Factors") = X
The Success Zone: 1 - 2
Very good rate of success.
Skill ups will happen, but some will be lost due to the recipe being easy to your current skills.
Best used when the recipe is break even or profit, and/or when the ingredients are expensive

The Prime Skill Up Zone: 2 - 5
Very good rate for skill ups.
Failures will happen, but at a fair trade off for skill ups (in most cases).
For anywhere from 7/8-1 levels from cap, it is fairly easy to get the "X" to be in this range>
You still gain skill on breaks

The Difficult Zone: 5 - 7
You can still gain skill ups on breaks, but skilling up on breaks happens far less frequently than on success.
Supplies better be cheap, or you will be digging yourself into a hole.

The High Risk, Low Reward Zone: > 7
Only for the case that each other recipe will give you an even higher loss
Please move onto another craft/recipe before wasting your gil here.

Example: Hi-potion Alchemy (60)

Level 58: Craft on Waterssday (+1), Face West [Water synth] (+1), Half Moon (+0), Paid Guild Support (+2) = +4
x = 60 - 58 + 4.0 = 6.0

The synthesis support pushed him from the Prime Skill Up Zone(4) into the Difficult Zone (6)

Sorry for long post.

If you need vines, hop to Ordelle's Caves with all the other ingredients. Each Malboro drops 1-2 vines at a high rate with THF sub. Next to no competition too, and there's about 5 spawns down there I believe.

If I remember correctly there are at least 1 drop 100% of the time on malboro vines there. Took some time but was done with Hi-potions in a few days.

Didn't SE "adjust" (one of my favorite words they use frequently) the success of crafting to hurt the gilsellers way back in day?

Of course, they didn't think nor mean to hurt the real players now, did they...

Luck > All

I've hq'd like mad skilling up, and got just as many skillup. Nothing like 3 hq's and like an entire level off 12synths at lvl80-something.

But in general synthing with support "seemed" to slow down skillups, never did a real test or anything. I only did that when it was worth an hq chance on my skillup, or if nq itself was wortwhile to have.

SquareEnix dosn't support RMT. It was them who removed billions of gil from the economy, and it shows face. Items and synth materals started to pile up in the auctions houses which goes to show how many gil buyers there actually were.

Ofcoarse there are more crafters and more outlets to obtain the more rare and expensive synth materals which also plays a role in the devaluation of those materals and crafted items.

Without mentioning it, they did just that Bluefrost, but only for the bigger synths. I'll tell you from an old Bonecrafters perspective.

First, and for those who don't know, if a bigger synth breaks, (Even a Scorpion Harness synth) the main synth materal will be a 100% loss, unlike other synths where a failed synth can result in no loss of materals, or randomly loss of some or all. Break something expensive, and that expensive synth materal will be lost everytime. It's always been like that.

Now.

Before i was able to go on for many monthes without breaking any big synths. I even had higher HQ rates. For well over a year i was able to say how i broke only 2 Venomous claws ever. At one point i had a 6/8 HQ rate, followed by a simular success rate (can't remember what that was, but it was all good)

It was around the time of the economy drop, when supplies were sky rocketing in stock, and the price was droping due to the removal of hundreads billions of gil, i noticed a major nerf in the success rate of even making a regular Scorp Harness.

I thought it was just a streak of bad luck, but many other long time crafters all agree that the synth system has been tampered with.

For the record i'll mention my continuation of prouducing Scorpion Harness has resulted in over 30,000,000 G lost, cause the new synth rate is so bad.

Many a Bonecraft at this point in time will tell you the success rate of a regular Scorp Harness is 1/3 will break and the HQ comes about every now and then.

All in all SquareEnix wants everyone on the server to enjoy currency, but at the same time it's appearant they want more things to be affordable for the noobs, which are increasingly becoming more rare to this FFXI Business. If the economy is too rich, noobs would be tooooo poor and it would take forever for them to do anything which would damage the game.

I still can't afford my Kraken club and i curse SE for breaking my wings. I don't take part in RMT nor do i care if someone buys gil, i think the economy was better when people had gil cause it made our big budget ventures more acceptable.
