Hey guys. My BLM is getting up there in level and well..I know HQ staves are quite a bit to save for.

My question to you: Does BLM need all the HQ staves or are most of them luxury? Also, if you could tell me in which order you would buy the HQ staves I'd appreciate it so I can budget myself accordingly.

Thanks much in advance.

I'm not a BLM, but I'd imagine HQ thunder/ice would be the priority; and a dark staff is a necessity for any mage job.

for BLM, the only ones you need are ice, thunder and dark. Light can be useful if you need to cast cure sometime, but the first three are the priority.

Personally, while lvling I would buy Ice Staff first. Mainly because of the elemental skill on it, which makes your spells more accurate. Usually, Ice is your main spell while lvling for that reason alone, but also because when parties DO ask you to MB, they usually ask you to do it on Distortion.

Thanks for the replies! They were really helpful and now I can budget to meet these! :)

Yeah I went Aquilo's -> Jupiter's -> Pluto's when I was going through them. I eventually got them all which I am better off for.

good thing about the ice staff is that the HQ version is also the cheapest by far. lol

I bought all NQ staffs, only because I use them on SMN and BLM. For HQ, Aquillo is a must. ^^

I'd reiteration the notion of getting a Pluto's at least third, and a Dark Strap to go with it. A BLM's enfeeble is decent and an HQ staff especially with the strap go a long way to helping with sleeps. Even as RDM I use this combination.

If you plan to be a career BLM, you're eventually going to want to get Ice/Thunder/Dark/Wind, in that order. This covers your strongest elements AND enfeebles. You'll also want to get the matching grips for each of them, also for enfeebling (ice=bind, thunder=stun, dark=sleep, wind=gravity). DO NOT use the elemental grips for nuking.

If BLM is your only lv75 job, I could see how the Inv +4 wouldn't be an issue for the four elemental accuracy grips, for the slight bonus they'll provide.

If you have/plan on having more than one active lv75 job, your inventory space can likely be better spent on other items for a greater cumulative effect.
