Yet people hate on the BLM not the BRD, because BRD doesn't replace anyone really, and everyone enjoys a bard in their party - while many would prefer a BLM to a [insert DD here] in their party. So they hate on the BLMs. Just my opinion on the subject.

It has absolutely nothing to do with that. If you want a BLM instead of a MNK in your exp party, power to you.

If you want to stack BLMs to trivialize everything, you're just abusing the job.

Another flamer trying to backpedal through his bullshit. Now it all makes sense. Level 59NPC, can't get 17 people together for Horns of War, leveling bst...
How many people have you alienated? Looks like being a prick doesn't help any.

Backpedal through my bullshit? I do nothing but help people. My NPC is 59 because it's not too difficult. Look at Cythe, He's a Paladin. His NPC is 60. Is he a prick? What about people leveling BST? Notice, I haven't touched the job in a while. It's something I do when I have nothing else going on.

Your shell can hate me all they want. I seriously have no clue as to why, since I'm one of the most helpful players in the game. I don't bitch when I don't get money out of helping someone get a coffer key, or die trying. If I've wronged you in someway to get your panties in a bunch as such, so be it. But everyone who knows me, knows that I'm quite the opposite of what you're painting me as, and thats all that matters compared to a bunch of people who want to seclude me from their help. Oh well.

I want the job most adept at killing the monster in question. I don't for example take a paladin to tank Geush Urvan. I don't take a ranger to fight bones. For different fights different jobs have greater strengths. This is not an issue of skill or lack of skill. This is an issue of game mechanics. Everyone wants to see their job as always useful, but this is just a numbers game.

You may view certain strategies as skill-less, but in reality they are exclusive. They are exclusive because they have little job adaptability. Just the same, you want to fight this BC without any BLMs, be my guest. If these people who chose to use the BLM method decide that it's worth...

1) Having to do the BC 5 more times for the other people.
2) Risk potential exp loss.
3) Risk potential wipe.

All to counter the injustice of having to split the lower gil drops that are just a fraction of the Claw price with several people who put the effort in to level a job that is useful for BCs but at the same time useless elsewhere... be my guest.

Maybe we should nerf your chi blast too, because it's unfair you have a better method to claim NMs than me. Apparently the 15 jobs are really just 1 job, and all these strange strategies and advantages/weaknesses are just bugs that need to be nerfed.

Let's nerf those SMNs too, how dare 5 SMN get together and "trivialize" fenrir right? And they charge! How dare they charge!!?!?? How dare people buy too... indeed. How dare people spare themselves time and agitation and use currency to pay for services...! Maybe we should only let 1 avatar out per party at a time!

And what about those freaking asshole beastmasters!?! How dare they be allowed to camp NMs with 1 person solo that would tear my BLM to pieces! NERF NERF NERF NERF NERF NERF NERF!!!!!!!!! You are so skill-less I say, to use a damn BST to camp NM, when there's a more difficult and less rewarding way right around the corner!

More like FIX FIX FIX FIX. Be it tweak the job(as in, do something to limit stacking, not make uselss) or encounters for the same reason. How many fucking times do I have to say that I'm not out for nerfing the individual Black Mage, just a work around to circumvent abusing the instant damage.

Firestreak said:
All I have to say is: If they nerfed stacked damage without nerfing some monster's seriously gross HP regen, at this point in time you could say goodbye to any hope of black belt.

Skaw said:
encounters for the same reason.

All ready covered that part, Firestreak.

you should all just do the KS99 with 4 DRG/WHM 1 DRG/BLM and 1 DRG/RDM like those guys on allakhazam :P level DRG ftw!

blah >.> KS30 that is :P not 99 XD

I was afraid to post my thread after that whole peregrine vs. blm thread, I thought peregrine would be the person who would flame this but not you skaw.

Do you even know me personally enough to post a flameboard thread about me? Why did I do to you anyway? You make it sound like what I'm doing is completely bad and I'll be sent to hell for doing this. You attack me like some type of criminal. wtf man

What is this? Some form of Pity card? I'm not against you, just that you have a team of Black Mages going in, when you could easily have a solid team of regular jobs.

And yeah, if I hadn't posted about it, Peregrine would. As much as I hate his views on things, this is one(probably the only) thing I agree with him on.

What now bugs the crap bout me is, some ppl "want" SE to nerf Blms. Why not Just upgrade everything else? Put Rng back to their "LEET" dmg status as well as have every other melee job do a percent more? No more Nerfing, its time for upgrading.

Skaw, I don't understand this thread. Are you flaming me? It's so rare that I'm ever quoted on these boards, let alone the OP. So forgive me for not fully understanding your direction or intention. But, to fully clarify myself..

For quite a long time many thought that ONLY BLMs could defeat this. It's the farthest from the truth, although, admittingly, it's helpful. I have never lost this battle in the set-ups that I have gone with. I have only died once on it, but that was more self-willing than anything. You DO NOT need BLM Cannon to win this-- but damn, you need people regardless.

For some players this might be their only oppertunity to get a V-claw. It's a gamble that appeals to some people. I suppose if I had a lot of seals to blow it would most likely appeal to me as well. Personally though, I prefer going in with a group of people that I know and do split loot. At lower lvls, doing bcnms I normally did your orb/your drop. It was still a gamble.

The BLMs who do these don't stand to lose anything and have everything to gain, but so be it if those people who sign up for this event don't come up with the idea of "Hey.. all of us want to do this.. why don't we do it together and just do your orb/your loot!"...

To touch another subject: Certain jobs DO perform better against certain mobs. I always thought that was obvious. Do you need to have SMN to defeat promy? No. When I did my first promy (dem) we went with a very unorthadox set-up and won. However, if a person has say a THF job and a SMN job ... chances are I am going to want them to go SMN. (Does that mean I can't take a THF through promy? No. I've done it.) It's practical. If I wanted to do a MNK cannon in KRT and had the option to chose a PLD or a NIN... who am I going to chose? You get the idea, although I'm running off to sky with the ninja because that is more enjoyable for me. hehe.

But, like I said before.. I don't know if you're flaming me or not. 'Cus, I do agree with you to a certain extent, but I don't see it nessesary to nurf. I guess I'm a bit on the other side of the fense when I feel that certain jobs should be tweaked so that they might be a bit more powerful. i.e. WHM!

I fully understand where skaw is coming from and i have to say i agree with him 100% in principle and practice, if not in the way he presents his position.

Basically from what i see, Skaw is someone who appreciates a challenge, a good knock down drag out punch-em-in-the-face damn near all dead close victory type of win....you know, something you can be proud of. I share this feeling, maybe its a monk thing. Or maybe thats just the type of person whos drawn to the monk job, i dont know. At any rate, imo, in any event/situation/missionquestwhatever, there are 2 possible approaches and 2 possible outcomes.

Approach 1: The Easy Way.

for this example ill use Divine Might BC, one of the toughest (and coolest) BCs in the game, imo. Get 18 blms, all simulcast thundaga III------>> win.
2 minute clear time. The result of this? Everyone gets their earring, everyone giggles at what a chump bc that was, then go about their lives thinking nothing of it.

Approach 2: The Real Way.

Again, Divine Might. Take a standard ally, tanks, mages, mellees, develop a strategy, assign tasks and areas of responsibility, then go and lay your shit down on those AA's. In this setup you must be sure of everyones skill, must be sure everyone knows and understands what to do, where to be and what to kill when. Little room for error, but plenty of room for excitement. Result?
Maybe it takes 3 or 4 trial runs, but everyone still gets their earring, and not only that but goes away from the battle with a feeling of accomplishment, for many this is something that is still considered one of their greatest achievements.

I, like Skaw, would prefer approach #2. Sadly, we are a minority. And since skaw has been seeing and dealing with this for much much longer than i, it seems more or less to have sapped a great deal of his enjoyment from the game, thus the pissed-off tone.

As for me, all my friends have long since passed me in lvls because of my odd philosophies and low playtime, and since lvl 30 thf any one of my friends could easily have solod anything i needed, rank, af, whatever. Wherever possible i have avoided this. I solod rank 4 as a 41 samurai, and it was a hell of a fight, couldnt get the NM without linking most of the room, had hi-pots and icky wing, had a massive ruckus that made the gilsellers go "O.o", and at the end it came down to me and a giant chucker in an archery contest, my 140 hp vs his full hp and i won..... And it felt fucking great.

I recently solod rank 5 as a 52 mnk with similar results, the quadaav nms were disappointingly weak, but some unavoidable aggro at the torch door in castle O proved a mighty challenge, and with 200 hp i made it out the other side of 2 big chickens and got my airship pass.... and to me thats how it should be. I cant stand seeing these shouts in jueno for genkai 2 "G2 help needed, 70+ please, [help me out!]" ......wtf. Its doable with an xp pt of 55's.... You fucking pussies. And thats why ill probably have to give in and have one of my rdm friends solo it for me, because ill never find any group that wants to do it the right way..... and it pisses me off.

As an aside, i actually tried to solo mnk af1 at lvl 50.... dont try it, that ghost has like 10k hp. But anyway, i most definately appreciate my friends who help me when i cant do it myself, but i really really dont like the need to ask these uber people who can sneeze on these things and own them, just like i think it takes all the fun out of pretty much anything to show up with 18-36 of 1 friggin job and just "sneeze" on the enemy 4tw.

So to sum up this long ass post, i'm with skaw..... doesnt anyone remember when these things used to be fun?

I'm sure almost everyone knows that a party with NO BLM can win this KS, is the fact that they want a virtual 100% shot at winning, because if they were after a nice challenge, they wouldn't have chosen to it this way =\

---INCOMING STUPIDITY---
I already thought mobs gradually grew a resistance to spells cast on them constantly and/or stacked spells as of some patch a few months ago? Shows what I know..

Yeah, well let me tell you the opposite story. My first job, unlike most of the people here, there were no 70s+ to help me. If you wanted Genkai 1 done, you could expect to spend 1-2 WEEKS in Eldieme. Any other old foggies remember that bullshit? People come in, win lot on papryus and suddenly have to go. Takes you ~5 hours to even find one of those parties. No helpers, EVERYONE wants the item, takes 12-18 and people have crap gear and poor strategies.

That just opens the door to AF. If you could find an AF party going for your key you were lucky. Odds are you had to help some other keys and hope the people were good enough to do your key after(perhaps a later day). To get any AF3 mob you needed a good portion of the "high levels"(50-60s) to come along, which was hard to organize. Time I spent getting AF on my BLM? 1 month. EXP Loss? About 2 full levels(between my own and all the hours of help I repayed).

Now for my second job's AF, I probably spent 1/20 of the effort, had 500ish xp loss and sudden amazement in the advancement NA had made.

My point? Wow you soloed Rank 4... so what? Just because people like quick and easy sometimes doesn't mean they have had it so much fucking easier than you. I'm sure you had a freaking guide to tell you exactly where to go, what to expect and how to wipe your ass. In Genkai 2 we all waded through the passage, fought our way through the northlands and got LOST for 3 hours trying to figure out what the hell to do!

So fucking what some guys want to amass a group of BLM and say "fuck you" to squaresoft and tear through their shitty challenges in protest of long, boring time sinks designed to increase our play time so they can charge us more. Who gives a shit? If they're in it for the claw not the challenge let them do it. I'd prefer quite frankly my party members have scorpion harnesses than the experience of getting gangbanged by a bunch of scorpions. If you want to do it your way, do it your way. But I don't recall seeing many event posts looking for coffer keys exclaiming, "level 60s+ not allowed to help! Let's have some fun and a challenge!"

Myself, been there, done that. This game is beyond that point now. If you want fun and excitement do the new content like CoP. I find it humorous it's been out for like a year and so few are at sea yet. Every BC is a challenge, job stacking won't save you, strategies are extremely variable and open to tinkering. There's new content that hasn't been seen, enemies that haven't been defeated. And 95% of the server doesn't give a shit. So all I've got to say is, you beat Ultima and Omega and THEN bitch to me there's nothing challenging in FF because some BLM want to use Thundaga on a couple BCs where it will work.

Don't think there's hard work to be done? Try getting some gear from sky. You want a real challenge? Try giving someone everything they want from sky and ask them to keep coming. It's a hit or miss game there.

Progress is progress, if something is mutually beneficial I say go for it.

And to all you haters: <^>

Fire, I was around way back in the day to which you are referring. As i recall, those G1, G2, AF hunts were where just about All of the oldschool players met each other, where many powerful lses formed (remember NAFB and LB fire?). It used to be about Banding together, meeting new people and gaining new friends, you help them they help you. I remember that sense of community, that feeling of gain. But whatever, so i'm just a little worthless scrub who wants to whine about challenge. Still king of the overnukers fire? I respect you for your achievements, most of which were, as you said, under the Old system, but ffs, if you didnt have fun and meet great people doing that then you're just fucking hopeless.

As for sky, big deal, stack a bunch of rangers pre-nerf, stack a bunch of blms post nerf, big whoop. Get everyone what they want and get them to stay? Noone can if they're not people of integrity, theres nothing you can offer to someone whos got everything they want from sky if theyre dead set on a dalmatica... Just gotta have people who care....you know, like old friends from back in the AF hunting days..... Oh well, what the hell do i know.

Let me actually say this, as clarification: I was stating my personal preference, MY feelings on the matter as they pertain to the way in which I conduct (or would prefer to conduct) Myself. I'm not gonna call anyone scrubs cause they nuked DM with 18 blms, its just that id personally rather duke it out the hard way. My derogatory comments were directed at those up-and coming youngsters who are terrified of doing anything without lvl 75s holding their hands, which you of all people should be able to appreciate, having done it the hard way. This i think is where Skaw is coming from, the perspective of an old-school earned everything the hard way player, and was attempting to elucidate that perspective, and empathize therewith.

That's not exactly accurate. As a former NAFB(Well actually it was just Fireblade) member myself it appeared to be comprised of something of a spectrum of players from all different ranges. I noticed most of the organized activity happened after there were already several 75s. For example I helped many get AF and got my own PLD AF with FB, but that was when I was on my 2nd job.

Lastbreath was all about people who leveled together 65-75, not about any activities we did together really. I was BLM, Neise was a WHM... we hit level 75 near each other, nobody else, doesn't matter how well I knew or trusted, it was that or nothing. It was the only sky LS for the time.

I few people I noticed that did stuff together back in the day were like Xtereem, Kisada and Justie. I recall doing rank 6-10 with them(also Metix and Balrock but they didn't join LS with them til much later). However it seemed like there were several little cliches that simply merged up and most of which have long left the game.

The LS that stands out most in terms of back then trying to get things done would be Anaeran's old LS which I respected but chose not to join for my own reason. They were long gone before any of them made 75.

But yeah long term friendships online are not dependable as real life relationships. People quit, and when the game has become boring for them, they should. Very few of the people I did things with back when I was lower level even still play this game.

Last Breath turned into something else which turned into Valkyrs eventually I think but who from the original LS is still there? Just Villarel I think. An attempt to find consistancy and order is futile because people constantly cycle in and out.
