I put this message on our Dynamis site too... To give those of you who don't know how we do it, TheDynamisShow has been doing some a lot of Glacier runs the past few weeks to pretty much just farm out the zone and get a feel of the zone.
Our first run to the Glacier actually gave many of our runners the win. Save a puller who wasn't sure what was going to come.
Hi my name is, Myihta and I'm a Dynamis Puller.
For those of you who don't know me... I pretty much don't do much research and just kill what my friends point at and say, "Kill that, Myi!" "Okay!!" So when it came to this one night so many weeks ago... a small conversation kinda went like this:
Quiz>> Okay... PD... Flee up the Eye and run to where the Trail Markings would be...
Myihta>> 'scuse me? >< I don't think I know this zone well enough... but okay... what am I pulling?
Quiz>> 4 Dragons.
Myihta>> ...k. ><
Ten minutes of terror ensued... lol... I made it to the Trail Markings with four dragons in tow. Not sure what to do at that moment as my LS killed the Mega Boss I start running back. Laughing and smiling because I had succeeded in my pull. Running back with the dragons. But since they have inceased movement speed they ran ahead and I lost sight of them.
My LS Cheered... the Mega Boss was dead... I cheered with them on my way back... little to know what turn of events was about to happen. The four lovely dragons that I had towed all the way to the zone came back for me... upset that I decieved them so that my LS could kill their Master. I died rather quickly. And sad because I now knew the Win was out of my hands.
Weeks of farming. Several of us got Relic. We decide to go for the wins again. Get the rest of the LS to Xarcabard. Nearly making it last week, an untimely Astral Flow took out the LS bring the time extremely tight. We had the win once... to let it go to our heads would have been a mistake. We were still learning. An unfortunate mistake was made and the win escaped the LS. No one can really blame what had happened tho. We weren't Pro's of the zone yet. That came later.
Last Saturday's run I did my dragon pull again. Members pleading me to let someone else to do it so that I could get the win. It was a mission for myself tho to get it done. That and I didn't trust anyone else to do it. If they failed I didn't want them to feel bad about letting down the LS. I'd rather have that burden. This time I was cheated out of my win by having two dragons hit me up with Flame Breath and Poison Breath at the same time. And me coming ill prepared and not having reraise up. The win escaped me again.
Then last night came... And this story I posted as well on our LS board but in hopes that all our members see it I post the story here too... thank you again my friends and family of TheDynamisShow.
And here is my tale of last night:
Thank you guys for hanging out in the zone last night after you guys killed the Mega Boss to distract the dragons. It made my eyes kinda pop out and my mouth open in amazement.
I'll say that the dragon pull is one of the most interesting pulls in game to date. Pulling is one of my most favorite things in the game. It's a challenge of it's own. And I know how important that dragon pull is. It's exciting as well.
Recast shadows, hit perfect dodge, Flee. Zip around the floating eye to see a dragon pop behind it and as I complete my 180° turn around the NM I see another one coming after me. Dart around it... for about 7 seconds I know what's going on. After that it's radio silence. In those 7 seconds I can see our tank gearing to Provoke or Flash. And I usually hear that so I kinda know if we're doing good. Then there's the dragon foot steps. Pounding the ground making everthing around them shake. But with legs pumping fast, that sound goes away rather fast. Pretty much after that I don't know if the dragons are still following me or if they maybe headed back to defend the floating eye. In preperation for me dying again either on the way to zone (As had happened this last Saturday) or dying on the way back from zone (As had happened the first time we got the win) Art had left zone in preperation for what we all thought was going to happen. Me dying somewhere on the glacier. It's kinda funny, cuz this is a pull I don't want to auto directional run. And I hardly type a thing save a few comments to Quiz so he knows how far I am into pull. Pretty much for ten minutes my hands are mostly on the controller.
Last night had me both perplexed, worried and focused. Perplexed because my shadows dropped mid pull again. (I could have sworn that they lasted longer than they actually do when fleeing through a zone. Maybe I flee away from them too) I usually rebuff right away before a pull so that this doesn't happen. A minute or so into pull came request for a progress report from GC. So I let him know when I pass certain camps. There's a certain indication on when I the dragons come close but last night I didn't get it at all. So I took a break for a second to reset shadows. Still nothing. Got on the ramp and hit flee again and no stomping that I got from Saturday where they cheated to kill me. Let Quiz know where I was. And in the final minute of pull is when I shared with the LS that it was nearly time for the showdown. Art had mentioned he was at the trail markings and I didn't know exactly where the were at all so I didn't want him to pop in to say hello and have a Pukis eat him. Send Quiz a tell that I just passed the trees where the Trail Markings would have been. And he gave the signal to unleash hell.
I let Art know he could come in and I start my flee back. So far I had made it without a scratch. As I'm fleeing back, I catch up to two dragons. >< To my horror they're blocking the entire path and I can't get around them. Equip the Powder Boots at our first time extension camp and use them. Now having the room to move around the dragons, I pass two of them. The ground stomping is still somewhat close. I can hear them but the shaking effect hasn't reached me yet. Head down AF Ramp without any Flee left... waiting for my timers to cool down having people tell me to hurry... lol... My hands tied behind my back while I'm waiting for Flee to hit 0:00. Then to my absolute horror, the dragons are right on top of me. Memories of the first win when the dragons immediately turned on me and ate me... I was waiting for it. To my shock the two that were behind me were concerned with someone else in zone. The three of us head down the final ramp and Flee hits 0:00... Boom... Myi's on the go go again. That's when the real shock hit... you guys were down there waiting... My new friends were there to protect me so that I could get the win. It made me more determined to get there... several of you waving and I felt horrible cuz I couldn't wave back... Then Fire Pukis was there... heading right for me and seeing him readying Fire Breath and sure enough this me hard. But this time Poison Breath wasn't with it. Thank you Xanta for sic'ing your pet on him to temporarily to distract him. The final steps down the ramp and seeing a dead Foo and Quiz standing above him with Carby sitting paitently to attack anything that came in range. And the ??? sitting right there. I checked it twice just to make sure I got the key item.
Last night was great for me. Better than any 100 coin drop or any AF2 drop. You guys were there for me. I don't know how to say thank you or how many times I can say it but thank you guys so much. Last night meant so much to me that I can't say thank you enough.
