Jadey
Well, not my main character, but my alternate.

I've got a Hume Monk - Jadey (named after my girlfriend, I'm so cute awww) who I've taken a lot of time and effort to abso-fucking-lutely pimp out. Snipers? Brown Belt? Every other piece of level 40 gear that most Monks bitch about not being able to afford until 55-60? Got it all. And I'm saving up for the Cross-Counters (or TM +2's) at 50. Every time I get into a party, I'm complimented on my amazing gear. That is, if they don't assume I'm a gilbuyer.

Anyway.

In my time in the 40's, I've seen plenty of other Monks. None of them - I mean NONE of them - have the gear I do. And the ones I've partied with have absolutely sucked compared to me. I've parsed 73-78% accuracy, even on Beetles, and they're barely scraping 60%. I've out-TP'd Samurai and even a few Rangers. I can't tell you how many times I've pulled hate and kept it due to Raging Fists closing a Fusion chain for 380 + 260 Fusion. I swear to God I fucking WILL bad parties to Chain 4-5 just with the power of my fists.

Apparently, the reputation has not spread.

Since Friday, I've spent a significant amount of time looking for a party, or trying to form one of my own. Sometimes I farm while doing it, sometimes I log onto Cubs and make some gil the ways he can, other times I just go to my other mules and AH/Bazaar/Quest while I wait.

But that's not the point.

At 3:00 Central time today, I 'celebrated' 24 consecutive logged-in hours trying to get into a party. At the time of this writing, it's 26.

TWENTY-SIX HOURS.

In that time, I've seen hundreds (yes, hundreds) of people go from LFG white to party blue. But what happened earlier today was what made me lose it.

45 Monk, 21 Warrior. No search comment. Fairly gimped gear, from what I remember.

This person is currently in a party, and I'm still in Jeuno.

WHAT THE FUCK.

I got pissed. Like, crazy mixed-up go nuts pissed. Threw my keyboard down, logged out, and went to delete the character. I hovered my controller over the Delete confirmation box for a little over 5 minutes before I finally decided not to do it. Sure, it would have been a stupid thing to do. I can admit that. But I was just that pissed.

I'm not a quitter. I want my level 75. I want to be the best at my job in both playstyle and gear. I love showing people the pure power of Monk. (Summoner too, but that's a rant all to itself.)

But as of late, nobody wants to listen.

Am I doing something wrong? I've tried useful search comments, funny comments, lazy no-comments, everything. I've tried forming my parties. I've tried only seeking during peak times. I've tried keeping my sanity in a lot of different ways.

I guess what I'm wondering is what it's going to take to remedy this and get through this goddamn grind so I can go back to having FUN with the job.

Any suggestions?

Cubs, that sucks but you know what? People just don't want monks - I love them but not many others do.

It's like a Pimped out DRG...sure his gear is incredible but he's still going to be LFG for days. Do you invite pimped out DRGs to your parties?

If you want invites you may just have to play another class, if you want a level 75 MNK you are just going to have to stick it out.

I'm also a Monk and i know your frustration. Last night i made my own party and i finay hit lvl 52 I can finaly wear my AF boots. I don't all the God gear like you do but im trying. I'm curently 0-13 on Mee Deggi the punisher. Just hang in there i love it when i finaly get a party and people tell me "Wow your an awsome Monk". I totaly make them change there point of view of the job. Just hang in there and don't give up.

{monk} {power}{imposible to gauge}

mugenteg, you are an awesome monk

Sabia your an awsome Taru SMN/WHM - WHM/SMN i would gladly be a fill in for your static any day.

Cubs, it's ok. Think about some of the poor DRG's who don't have parties for DAYS on end. Next time just look me up and we will play paddy-cake or something like that when you wait, or we can compare pirates

Actually, in the past few weeks/months DRGs have put forth this whole 'OMG we bear the cross poor us invite plz we're sad puppies' attitude and it's garnered a lot of sympathy in the community. I see DRGs getting picked over MNKs in a heartbeat nowadays, simply because DRG is the Job of FFXI right now and MNKs are still the stupid n00bs that don't want to have to do anything in a party.

I still get treated like I don't know shit, even though 90% of the time I'm the one setting up the SC (if they even 'want to do one,' wtf) and never missing my end. Well, not 'never.' I've missed SC timing once in the last 6 levels. Sorry.

And fuck anyone who tells me to switch jobs to get to 75. Why don't you and I both switch to WHM and get those up to 70+ so we can have Fenrir and be 'real' Summoners for the last 20 levels or so? Hmm?

I didn't think so. ^^

"Job" as in the religious sense, not "job" as in "Dragoon is a JOB." Heh.

I'm not saying you should Cubs but you really can't bitch about it if you don't. I absolutely have hated not having fenrir for the last 50 or so levels but it's my own damn fault for not taking another job to 70 to get him. Sure I'll try my hardest to get the purple pooch ASAP but I'm not taking a job to 75 to get him, it's my decision and I have to live with the consequences.

If you want fast invites pick another job, if you want a level 75 monk - stick it out. I'm not saying Monks are bad but you really know better than to expect the invites to come rolling in.

It's the same case with SMN...I had a bitch of a time getting parties from 1-43, so I made my own and it took a long damn time - if I wanted fast invites I'd play my White mage, but I want a level 75 Summoner, so I'll play that instead.

Sorry to hear that Cubs, Samurai is similar in unwantedness :(
at least Ill assume, judging by how long it takes to get a pt.
In defense of Monks, they seem to be the only job other than Ranger that can keep up to me Tp wise.
I personally prefer to have a Monk as my SC partner ^^

/comfort CubsWoo. Hang in there my fellow Monk.

All I can say for ya Cubs is that there are some days when it takes divine intervention to get an invite.

The problem is that parties don't look for the best candidate, they look for the first one. 5 MNK's seeking, one's name starts with A, if the party needs a MNK, A gets the invite even if he's gimp and everyone else has uber gear commented. Only real exception to this is if someone in the party notices someone they know is good seeking and points it out.

My suggestion: Static? I like monks, they are not always my first pick when I make pt's which I do somewhat often. A static could really help out.

This is why i go out my way to impress the people in the few partys i get. They end up remembering that i play my job awsome. This has happen lots of times to me i get invites from lots of people i've partyed in the past.

Monk has always been rough getting pts after like 40 or so. I switched to PLD back when I got my monk to 36 decades ago b/c I got tired of it. Anyway, best way to make sure you get pts would be to make them. If you're not in high demand then thats something you'll prolly end up having to do. Or get a static.

Get to 58ish dude and we can party anytime. I love MNKs with a passion and I always pick them when I make parties.

My suggestion to you is make your own parties.

You have made a good point though. The other day I was LFG and my RNG friend was to. He got an invite and I told him to ask if they had a THF. He said they had already got one so I shrugged it off. Then I realized the THF that his party had invited was same level as me with an underleveled sub... lower rank than me... and nothing in his search comment. WTF? Don't people actually look who they are inviting? Turns out the guy sucked bad. HAHA.

that sucks Cubs ; ;
for me the best PT set up I always try to form (I usually make my Pts) is
ninja,blm,rng,whm or sum,rdm,thf
I know there are better Pts but that what I have had the most succes XP/HR for me. As you can see there are no drk,drg,sam,mnks there ; ;
sorry to all the Meeles out there ><
buttt, if I cant find a thf or a rng I usually look for a meele.

ohh, off topic:
Is thf considered a meele job?

I'm sorry But Monks fucking rule god damnit!

1st... The o9nly reasons DRG's are gettign up in levels and gettign picked over you is not because Dragoons are good or anything, or we have sympathy... It's to Shut them the fuck up! All they do is whine... :D

Monks rule. I see em piss off a lot of Paladins because they steal hate and don't even try to do it... they just do. Monks = Party yelling at the WHM: "DON'T HASTE THE F'ING MONK!" And the monk Laughing.

I am really pissed off actually, because I find the Best jobs in the game, or at least the ones played by the best people, and Best meaning the nicest, most 'fun' oriented people are Monk, and Samurai, and Both I can't Skillchain with anymore. =[

Hang in there dude.
Seriously. There are not enough monks out there. You will get invites, just build your Party Repore a little more. People won't invite you if they don't know how you play.

Cubs...

As a THF, I had my LFG woes in the 30's - 40's.... What did I do? I perfected the art of building a party.

First: Put your TNL, +ACC, and +whatever in your search comment.

Now.. the toughest part is getting the first two people. I usually would ask whoever else is lfg at the time, and would 'fit' in my party configuration. If they wont join.... I lie. Here's the strategy:

K.. /sea all level 45... ok.. a 45 PLD, looks like he is farming...

/tell PLD [Excuse me...] [Experience points] [party] [looking for members] [team up?]

/tell PLD [Monk] [Black Mage] [White Mage]

/tell PLD [Quicksand caves] [Crawlers Nest]

(Okay, okay.. so I dont have a BLM or a WHM... but does he know that?)

PLD says.. sure!

If he accepts invite before you get the others.. tell him they are on thier way... if you can't find that BLM or WHM, say they dropped ;;

Awesome.. now for that BLM and WHM

/sea all level 45... yep.. there's one!

/tell BLM [Excuse me...]... yeah... you get the point.

I built killer partys through those levels, buy the next night... I hardly had to ask people to join. JP, NA.... whatever. The "JP only" comment means nothing... exude confidence when building, and anyone will join.

/t Ezikiel: idk... I am kinda busy
/t guy: You gonna pass up a 4k+ per hour party?!?
/t Ezikiel: OK! I'll join!

GL Cubs... If you were near my level (54) I would surely fit you in my static (still need that last DD), and make an exception to that MNK+THF= BAD Skill chain. ^^

I feel for you Cubswoo, it's kind of interesting really. All those high demand jobs, not enough to go around. I've been playing them, but it feels a little stupid sometimes. Feels dumb to know I can play WHM to 64+ then turn around trying to play a DD and can't find a WHM for myself, because so many people want to play melee jobs. It's kind of frusterating on both sides of the fence.
