Edward Norton to play Dr. Bruce Banner in Incredible Hulk sequel.

The replacement for Bruce Banner has been found and, though I'm shocked to hear it, Edward Norton will be the next green machine.

Edward Norton for The Incredible Hulk

Marvel Studios has announced that they have signed on Edward Norton to star in The Incredible Hulk, a sequel with an opening set for June 13th, 2008.

Norton is jumping aboard the project after doing a string of indie films including Down in the Valley, The Painted Veil and The Illusionist. The actor will take over for Eric Bana while Louis Leterrier will sit in a director's chair that once belonged to Ang Lee. Though the original, Ang Lee-directed Hulk opened strongly, it still didn't fare as well as most other comicbook adaptations.

The Incredible Hulk will be the second film fully financed by Marvel Studios thanks to their financial backing at Merrill Lynch.

I don't know what surprises me more: Edward Norton doing a comic movie, or Hulk 2 being made.

I guess I'm excited. I hope Jennifer Connelley comes back. She's dreamy.

Mmmmm big ti...Jennifer Connelley <3

I think Edward Norton would be ok in a comic movie... just not as the Hulk. At least Eric Bana was a relatively large guy and had the stocky face for it. Unless Norton is gonna pull 1 of those bulk up 30 lbs in 6 months plans like some of them do.

Bruce Banner is supposed to be lanky, not bulky. Eric Bana was way too bulky for the role. Banner is a reclusive and emotionally repressed nucler scientist, not a body builder.

Oh, ok... been a loooong time since I seen the show.

Exactly the description of Dr. Bruce Banner. This is indeed great news because I know for a fact that Norton will do a better Banner than Bana. lalalala

I hope they don't mess anything up like in the 1st movie when they made Banner's dad turn into that elemental creature (everyone knew he was the Absorbing Man btw). I hope they include the Leader or The Maestro storyline in this movie.

No offense man, but not gonna happen. Stories like that are best left to either the comics or animated movies.

; ;

You are right and I know hollywood messes up storylines/origins/costumes/names/accesories/etc... in everything they put their hands on. But I still have hope. Look at Spidey 3, thay are fitting the whole Venom Saga in there and that has more elements than The Maestro Saga. Idk how they did it, but it happened.

Fixed.

Ultimate storyline or not this next spidey movie, as a super-geek fanboy, kinda has me irked.

Secret Wars ftw. Toss me a 10part movie series on those and i'll be happy.

On topic; I think Norton's going to do some incredible justice to Banner as a character instead of just being a minor side-plot to the first movie which only really gave way to the action scenes. I too am surprised they're making another somewhat.

On the note of wishlists for this movie... Joe fixit. I could die a happy man.

Yeah, the whole Venom thing is going to feel rushed and crappy. But it'll be worth it, because we get more on-screen time with James "Worst actor ever" Franco. Nobody is signed on for a fourth, so I'm pretty sure this is it.

Back on topic - I think Norton will be a great Bruce. I just hope the script is a little better than the last one.

I've never followed the Incredible Hulk, but this sequel is going to be worth seeing. Edward Norton's an awesome actor, I know he's going to make this movie good.

It's already been confirmed that the Abomination will be the new movie's villian, plus this will be a relaunch, making no reference to the first movie. The current release date is June 13, 2008.

That's pretty cool. The only thing better than one Hulk, is two hulks.

No refrence to the first, eh? So I guess that means Jennifer Connelley is out. Damn.
