After being gone for about 6 months I tried to log in to POL. I know my username but my password doesn't seem to work anymore. I thought your POL account was supposed to be around forever but from reading other people's experiences it seems to be a random chance of your inactive account being deleted.

Has anyone that's returned after a long period had trouble logging on to POL?

I would call customer service but I'm stuck out of town for a week or so and I need my registration codes and my dad's old credit card number with are of course not here.

On another note, what dumbass came up with FFXI's registration system?

Well, I had my old acct deactivated for about.. 4 months at one point, and it wasn't deleted. You could always call your Dad and ask for the credit card number.. And have someone go to your house and get your PoL reg code, and read it off to you.

BUT... I'm pretty sure that no matter how long you wait, you should still be able to log into PoL. Even if you stop playing for 3 years, your PoL account should still be active. Your characters will just be deleted. ..Maybe you changed the password before you left and forgot about it? Maybe somehow you got hacked? I'm hoping that's not the case.

My advice is to get your Reg code, and your credit card info, and call PoL. And if you have to wait until you get home, a week or so more without FFXI won't kill you :P

I never changed my password but it didn't meet the qualifications of the new password rules they implemented. This was implemented during my absence. Reading other people's experiences, I fear the worst x_x

8 months hasn't so I guess a week won't... But forever is probably another story @_@

Wellllllll.. They might be able to do something for you, even if it is deleted. For some reason I've had decent cutomer service from SE. I barely have to deal with them though.

If your password didn't meet the qualifications, I think it just had to be changed. Mine did meet them though.. So I'm not really sure how that worked. Honestly, this seems like it might just be a password problem. Calling customer service and asking for a password reset will probably fix your problem... I wouldn't worry about it too much until you find out more info.

You pass was prolly forced changed. SE did something and changed the requirements on passwords. I was inactive for almost 9 months and mine still worked. So it isn't like deleted.

POL never gets deleted, call up PoL give them your user ID and stuff and youll be fine.

They gave me my password when I didnt know any of the dates or the old addresses, im sure you can do it.

I hope that's the case. The only thing I find odd is that they'd change my password themselves with out any notifications. Unless its some type of temporary close thing you have to call for them to take off.

Nah they changed ALOT of peoples passwords, enough to where it was popping up on here with people thinking they got hacked. Its probably legit POL doing their "More secure password" crap.

To be completely honest, I thought "1" was suffiecient enough for my PW

I did some reading through various forums and found someone saying after the password change was implemented there was a 2 months where you were able to change it, afterward you had to call PoL to reset your password.

Hopefully this is the case.
