You should not be one to talk about who should be one to talk about upholding decency, Mr. "Profanity makes talking fun." Yes, I am very well aware of what Halver says to travellers preparing to obtain Rank 3, but you cannot generalize all San d'Orians by what he alone has to tell you. If you're ever so lucky to get enough fame to unlock the "Fit for a Prince" quest, you will get a funny cutscene that shows even the King thinks little of Halver.
Yes, we have armies, but wars aren't won in a day. A full assault on Fort Ghelsba would leave San d'Oria and its women and children vulnerable to attacks from Davoi. So instead, we are fighting their skirmishers, gathering intelligence, keeping a diligent vigil over Ronfuare and LaTheine, and slowly planning the downfall of our orcish nemesis.
It's the Windurstian philosophy that baffles me. While you tried to make peace with the Yagudo, you appear to have failed miserably. You grant them food offerings, but you can't even do that right without dropping apple vinegar into the mix. And despite your "kindness," those beastmen continue to attack your mailmen, steal your library books, and continue to cause general havoc about your countryside (once again dominating the Kolshushu region this week, I see). So since peace has apparantly failed, do you really believe turning a blind eye is going to solve the problem?
And instead of fighting these beastmen, you seem to prefer fighting all of San d'Oria instead. While I highly doubt your Star Sybil would permit it, let me assure you that if you attacked us you would most definately lose. I have fought side by side with your mages before, and I am well aware of their capabilities. When standing at max range away from an enemy to cast a damaging spell, it takes roughly 3 seconds for the enemy to close the gap and slap you upside the head. 3 seconds, not 90. I guarantee my monk can close the distance and interrupt your casting, and quite possibly deplete all your HP as well depending on how fast your WHM can keep up with my hasted hits. Also, please don't forget that we have mages of our own. Many elvaan with high MND have been trained in the ways of white magic in our prestigious cathedral, and they can cast a wicked Silence spell.
Please don't mistake this as confrontational hostility. I just prefer not to see you get hurt, and our armies *will* defend ourselves if provoked. But it would be a wasted battle to end the lives of so many we had not seen as true enemies.
