I don't get it.

heh, inflation is heavier here than it is on most servers. I can't even blame gilsellers. I blame the ppl who were too lazy to fight them off before this huge mess even began. Ppl easily got disheartened seeing these ppl with their shady tactics always up like be insomniacs always there watching and waiting. Early campers got sick of it and moved on to somethings else. And when the gilsellers followed they moved again. Ppl gave up too quick and the gilsellers here were able to generate a lot of gilflow because of it. And today all these newcomers and poor players resort to buying gil because they feel like they could never accomplish camping a monster for its loot, and they're too lazy or could care less to try.

A kraken club recently sold for 300,000,000G on Remora...and you say we have bad inflation? lol do some research if you're making remarks like that.

Im pretty sure inflation is fuking way worse on other servers, but bottom line, I could give 2 shits about other servers, because I don't play there, only on Quetz ^.^ But yea, simple scenario for infaltion :

Random Noob 1 : Your so gimped, haha
Random Noob 2 : Wait till Christmas bitch
Random Noob 2 : Haha look, I got a SH+1, PCC, and now I can claim that i'm totally cool, and I've been around since NA Release, btw help me shout for some 100 Byne bills ok?
Random Noob 1 : Wow your so fucking totally cool, lemme ask my mom to buy me a verm cloak for christmas, maybe even a royal.
Random Noob 2 : Exactly, then you'll just be totally uber like me.

This is what happens when kids control the economy, and since this is the worst our economy has been to date, it will be interesting to see how much worse it can get. You got buncha no-namers walking around, and out of nowhere they come up on a net-worth of decent gear out of the blue. Its funny because I can call out a buncha people on qcdn who know they buy gil, but will claim till the day they die, that they don't, not to mention the out-of-the-blue /tells I get from people who I have never heard of, asking for V.claws, Dynamis Currency, Shining cloths, Ingots, exceptional gear, and your occasional beggers (mostly females), who wanna come up quick. Anyways Happy New Year, with all this gil floating around on our server, hard to determine when the inflation's gonna go down. Good luck to you crafters out there

1. The reality quote has nothing to do with quitting FFXI, I didn't realize someone would see the two connected.

Sculli - permanently retired from FFXI
Reality is a harsh mistress.
How did I see the two connected? Well, let's think: 99.9% of the people who quit, quit because of reality being too much for them to handle both it and the game. And seeing as that is right after it says "permanently retired", I just figured. Why? What's it supposed to mean?

Eh, you don't read mine, why should I read yours lol.

I don't believe that 99.9% quit because they don't have time for the game. I believe more than half of the quitters quit because they are simply bored with the game after having played it for years.

I quit because I simply do not like the game mechanics. I hate the console port interface, I hate that I can not craft as fast as I can click, I hate that I come to a shop and it is closed, forcing me to wait in WW for 20 minutes real time doing nothing, I hate that there is no solo content worth speaking of, I hate that everyone looks the same (every character looks the same), I hate the poor itemization (everyone's gear looks the same too), I hate the reliance on a good group (if you get idiots, then your game experience can be easily ruined, essentially making my fun dependent on the skill of others, screw that!). There are probably more things, but these should illustrate the point.

I do spend a lot of time on QCDN, easily 20+ hours a week. I hope that in time I will be able to cut down on that some. QCDN is something I started, and I will be here till SE pulls the plug on FFXI. Call it civic duty, call it misguided, whatever, I will see to it that this site is around for as long as it is needed.

Alkyoneus's Bracers sold on this server for 144 mil. If someone were to put a Kclub up right now I say we'd be close to 300mil. But honestly, that'd be a bitch tax to pay to sell such things on AH. Better just to /shout in Jeuno looking for someone with that dough

and one last comment, I'm certain I said that our prices are higher than that of MOST servers, Remora Hades, I they were created the same time gilsellers began to establish themselves, pretty obvious they didn't have much competition over there to begin with. Easy pickings over there

lol, but I DID! I just looked it over AFTER I had originally posted. Unlike most of the population of QCDN, who never even reads my posts even after I tell them to.

By the way, I think Sculli burned me. I admit defeat on that one. But answer me this: If you don't even like the game, why do you host a huge-ass forum for it? And if you're on it only 20'ish hours a week, how come your name is all over the place? Does someone else type up your posts for you?

Where all this money come from ??? !!!
and i dont think thats IGE, guysellers etc ... they dont produce gil from what i know (and frankly I hope that it will never be the case).

The only hypothesis I can propose are :
- hack/glitch/abuse of a quest (like botted fished caps before it was nerfed).
- Super Uber rich characters quitting the game and giving their money to their friends (less people for the same amount of gil = inflation).

But the rate of the inflation begins to scare me a little and SE should find more efficients ways to "destroy" gil from the economy imo.

I am willing to sell my Kracken Club right now for 300 Million Gil. Dear God, someone offer me that kinda cash.

I am also willing to provide the enima needed before totally screwing you in the process, free of charge.

Yes, the economy as MANY different factors. Yes, gilbuyers/sellers have an effect on the value of gil, yes greed plays a factor when crafters try to make a killing, yes, supply and demand plays a valuable role in an items going rate, however ... the recent 'sky rocketing' of certain items is the direct result of persons using their 'christmas cash' to purchase gil, which they then use to purchase their oh-so coveted gear.

Such a dramatic increase in the gil available in circulation will undoubtedly have a permanent effect on Quetzalcoatls economy, however, the persons guilty of purchasing these items at there insanely inflated prices will obviously exhaust their gil resources extremely quickly, slowing the inflation.

I personally would expect to see the prices of these items (refering to the most obviously inflated items: Scorpion Harness, Hauberk, Sniper's Rings, Vermillions Cloak, etc) to eventually come back down in price, however, it will be a slow process, as the persons selling needed items (like the V. Claw, D Cloth, D Ingot, etc) will be unwilling to sell for less than the 'going price' (which is absolutely outrageous compared to prices no less than 2 weeks ago, lol)

Oh I found the perfect gift for my gf!

Hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday. I'm possibly a bit more embaressed about making this flame now that I've had some good ole fashion R&R and a tall glass of wine. (or maybe a couple glasses of wine..)

Usually I don't try to let myself get so frustrated. Usually just pick up my toys and move over to another sandbox. Started that day out just farming and minding my own business in Crawler's Nest. Notorious for finding camps that I would consider "a bit less popular"... generally empty of players and full of mobs that con about EP to me. (Admittingly, they generally consist of mobs that drop crafting resources that I need or can make use of..)

..Out've no where two guys come in and decide to "team-up" against me. With the layout considered and the delay between spawns (which I use to my favor while soloing)... 2 provokes against my lack there of = me just simply having no other choice but to leave. Yah, I can stay and try to get a claim but then I'm simply left not having a good time and wasting time.

..strole back to jeuno. Craft up some items and go to sell items. Taking me almost a week to push out my overstock and the same dip-shit has basically not only sold 4, 5, 6 of the item.. but the entire history. Go back again, the time stamps are different.. but same .. history is full. How much do I gotta undercut just to get my stuff to sell? I can't keep holding it. Funny thing is.. the price of said item keeps selling for more and more.. yet none of my wares are selling?.. ok.. something not right about that.. but what can you do? Toss your items and call it a loss.. or press the envelope and try to sell for less?

So at present I'm sitting with none of my items selling.. my inventory full.. and I cannot exactly do much.. so I browse the AH for things to buy. I guess in that sense, I'm so much a girl.. "I'm bored.. lets shop mentaility!"

I would say that I know quite a few players on our server. Especially "regular" players who I may not know directly.. but at least in passing..

so yah, I would say it is enough to get me in a pissy mood when I notice AH prices like the ones I seen with the staves... Seller names that I have not recognized before (which granted could be those of crafter's mules).. and likewise buyer names that I've not seen before either. Items of interest to me I try to pay close attention to. Be it a quested item, dropped item, or sold item, or an item in which I inted to sell as well. *To me* A lot of these items/prices are a bit more "Staged" than the naked eye wants to admit to.

Conspiracy theory as it might be.. but still enough to tinkle in my cherios.

..And I do weigh in various variables. That comes from playing strategy games a bit too much. lol. If a tree falls in the forest and noone is around to hear it.. does it make a sound?.. And a lot of people come to ask me not to quit, and yet.. when you take a moment to reflect back on it..

why not? You see.. it's not so much the stave that got me upset. That was simply the last thing to get me miffed. It was also a lot of the same things that Sculli mentioned that I've come to not like about the game. It's little things down to the error messages I get when trying to cast a spell too fast. Or needing X amount of players within X amount of level range to complete a said activity that I'd much rather do without all the prerequists. Instead of a game where "we" do something because "we" like it.. it's a matter of 'If you help "me" do this, than I'll help "you" do that.' Can't even level a low lvl job anymore 'cus I don't have the emp pin and the leeping boots to go wtih it. lol.

Call me a hypocrite.. call me lazy... and well, you might be on to something. I'll most likely even top it off by still playing.. and even worse.. ride this out and end up paying 5 mil instead of 6 mil for an item that should be worth about 2-3mil. And since I do in fact enjoy Garrisons and have not in so long.. might find myself planning something of that nature in the future. And if I want to wear an empowering mantle and you think that a blue cape is better.. more power to ya! Just don't get yourself so caught up in the items you get that you don't actually get a chance to enjoy them. And don't get so caught up in exping and getting to that next level when you become so afraid to do anything fun cus you don't wanna risk losing any of that exp.

Anyway, that's enough from me.. Most've you have stopped reading well into the first paragraph anyway. Toodles.. and best wishes in this world and the "other world" in 2006.

/bow
