Correct me if I'm wrong cause I'm not really willing to confirm it, but didn't we read somewhere that the FFVII Advent Children Blu Ray will have some exclusive properties that only surface when it's being played in a PS3 ? Might have to do with a playable demo of FFXIII and maybe some other goodies.

I've rea din several magazine SE is remaking ff7 for the ps3, basically just giving it a face lift, advent children graphics, voice acting...

I believe it was mentioned at the end of crisis core too, can't remember...

but yeah I've heard in many places that it was being remade. not that hard if you think about it. just rip the game engine out, remodel the characters and spend a couple months redoing all the CSs. It would take, what? about a year or so to redo it? meh

It's been rumored for years, ever since the PS3 demo video. SE is constantly denying that it's in the works, and there hasn't been any actual evidence that they are.

Uh, they'd have to do a lot more than that if they want the remake to be any good. Like, build up locations from scratch, make up new sound effects and animations. It'd be far from a simple rip-and-polish, since the game was 3D characters running around on 2D backgrounds.

Because it's archaic, a tremendous waste of the PS3, and it just doesn't need that niche after Square has already abandoned the use of painted backgrounds for many years now. Not to mention a built and sculpted environment would pull you in to the world much better.

The only games that should be using 2D backgrounds are games that are using sprites too.

But then again, Square still can't let go of prerendered FMVs for some dumbass reason.

It kind of has been their calling card eh? "talking talking blehplot OMFG KICK A$$ CS!!!"

I'm kind of miffed we didn't get any of that in ffxi, I would've enjoyed a few sweet scenes, but we gotta stick with what we got.

Spekaing of graphics, who here thinks SE should release an expansion pack esq disc that upon installed, it re updates all your current .dats with new improved higher quality ones, better looking cities, higher quality gear, smoother animations, stuff like that?

hehe, the PS2 sales are going down, true, but it still is the highest selling console of all time and there are more out there than there are of Wii, 360, PS3, and I believe even X-Box and Gamecube combined XD I'll go check that now.

yar, PS2 is a monster x.x so, while I'd agree they should drop PS2 support so that FFXI can get a much MUCH needed update, they won't because of the user base being HUGE.

But why not just give a face lift to those whose system can handle i.e. 360 and PC users? PS2 players cant really complain since its their own fault for being stubborn and staying on the PS2
