Tonight, I got home from work, got on the computer, and I had this odd feeling in me. I felt sort of depressed (for some odd reason), but that's not what I'm worried about.

What I am worried about, is that this feeling was accompanied by something else. This something else, makes me wonder whether I'm okay or not. When I got on the computer, I checked my email and everything, and afterwards I didn't want to play ANY video games (I usually do after I check all that stuff). I'm currently playing through The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, and Metroid Prime on GameCube, but I didn't want to play. I didn't even want to play Final Fantasy XI or Half-Life 2. I did get myself to play Final Fantasy XI some, but I didn't stay on for long.

Now, usually when I'm bored, I play a game (I get bored a lot here). But tonight, nothing. I doubt I'm going to have this feeling for long. I love video games. Maybe if I sleep on it it'll go away. I just want to know why I feel this way now. :'(

i sort of know the feeling, i used to play console games like a madman, and i used to average beating about 1 game a week, depending on the length (i never used to play RPG"s) then after playing rpg's for a while....i became kinda burnt out. The games coming out now didn't seem to hold the same quality as those before. I found myself buying video games only to play them for 2 weeks then getting bored, not even bothering to beat them. It wasn't until i started playing DAOC that i became enthralled with a video game. Then i stumbled upon a mud named Realms of Kaos, and played that for a while....then came to FFXI. Now i play a lot. I think maybe your problem is that you have a bit of a different taste now, maybe games you used to enjoy no longer hold your attention. I suggest taking a break from the types of games you normally play to try other one's. Best of luck to ya ^_^

New Game overdose Swish . . . I got bit by it a while back . . .

this year has been rough on the more than casual gamer, to many good games to play, indiscision leads to disinterest . . .

that's Dr. Dirges theory at least . . .

I call it Q4 Game-Inundation Syndrom . . . the cure is painful . . . only buy *GASP* two games a month . . . I'm not just an expert, I also suffer from it

Well... you mentioned you were feeling kinda depressed... and loss of interest in things that you actually enjoy is a pretty classical symptom of that. Maybe your interest has waned at the moment cause you're feeling kinda down.

i feel like that too sometimes

well not really i play War3:TFT and wil play WoW when it comes it

FFXI i wish i could solo in that game, there are days where i really wanna level up my PLD but the thought of using up a god 3-4 setting up/ exping is really disheartening now.

I think Dirge and Aixl hit it right on the mark. So many games that I've been playing have made me lose a little interest, and because I've lost some interest in something I like a lot, I feel depressed.

I feel the same today. Make it end. I know I love them. :(

Edit: I blame Half-Life 2.

Double post :O

A friend of mine today said that he had the same thing before. He got burnt out on video games. He said it went away after he stopped playing for a while. So, I'm going to give up games for a little while.

One exception is FFXI though. I don't play that much because work screws around with me having time to play enough to actually get stuff done. So I'm still going to be playing FFXI on my days off, and days where I have more time. And I'm still going to use the computer, since I do more than gaming with it.

Although, I might be getting a DS tomorrow (if I'm lucky), so hopefully I'll snap out of it once I get that.

Edit: I'm actually starting to feel better with the depression part, which is good, because I hate feeling this way. Some Zelda music helped me with that. :P (Thanks to Sabia)

One thing is you are playing all RPG style games. Maybe get some fast frenzied killing games going on eh? I remember I used to play Starcraft. Ahhh the good ol days. They need to make another of these. Anyways, try and mix up the game style a bit.

Pick up some crazy games. Scorched Earth is a good 'ol one... lol (If anybody remembers that Gem).

Also, listening to "All Your Base Are Belong to Us" (forget where it's from) is always a kicker.

Tony Hawk games, or any other fast-paced game, has always been a great alternative to the snoozers some RPGs eventually turn into (leveling-up for the endgame, lol, remember maxing out Materia for FFVII?)

Pretty much... just do something different to throw yourself completely out of your daily grind, swish. The Zelda music that Sabs sent ya probably helped to cheer you up because it's not something you do everyday! Go somewhere that you never go. Recently, I went to Office Max. That was a fun adventure... :)

This has happened to me a lot. Through out the course of the year, I get into these phases, usually in one months doses. One month, I am playing games like no other and then I lose interest. Then I end up having anime marathons like crazy the next month. On the following month I end up reading a lot of novels and manga non-stop. It's kinda weird. Then there's the regular month where I end up doing all the above in equal parts. As for the last two months, I've been playing FFXI, finished watching 6 series of anime, almost done re-reading two fantasy trilogies, and playing Third Strike and the new Capcom Fighting Evolution game. Still mad at capcom for not having a lot of fighters on this game. /cry

*Hijacks thread for a moment*

JESUS! YOU ARE HERE SHAYLA! >_< God almighty I feel like a loser!

Well Swish...is something in your life bothering you? "Feeling a little depressed" could be a bit more than what it feels like.

You're in Canada right? I know I always get depressed around Winter, because the sun stops coming out as much. Sunlight effects emotions. Um..."Seasonal Affective Disorder" aka "SAD" Less sun = more depression. Try hanging out with your friends, that always helps me. ^^

that happened to me once, too. i guess i just got restless and i didn't play FFXI or anything for a month. I don't remeber much of that month. It was kind of hazy and i think i got arrested lol

*runs away crying and accidentally hits the wall and is out cold*

Just kidding with ya Yomi. ^_^

I would, but I don't really have any friends to hang out with up here, unfortunately. I live in a rural area, and there's about three people near my age (younger though), who live on this road, that I know of. I do have friends, and I talk to them, I'm just not good enough friends to go hang out. This could be part of it though. That I feel alone at times.

I feel this way to, I can hardly play FFXI anymore, but i force myself, try accomplishing some things you've wanted to do in a while.
