thanks for ur own:2cents: as much as i would love to do ZM all day. CoP. rank missions. camp NM by the time i gathered enough people i have only 2-4hrs play time a day i have to go within about an hr of getting to the place or getting the party together. "not everyone can play allday" on weekends friday -monday im out of town. i have other things to do besides sit around and shout in jeuno all day. i'd rather help my LS mates and friends with af and what ever else they need. i also have to farm wich isnt so rewarding for the time w/out TH2. any how you sound like a re-run of Mash it gets:old:

point is i want to be a pld who can do it all take dmg, dish it out, back up heal what ever. did you not see that i said i have my DEFENSE GEAR WITH ME AT ALL TIMES!!!!!!!!
 
I CHANGE MY EQUIPMENT ACCORDING TO THE GAME PLAY!!!!!!!!! if i take dmg of 100 u better believe i put my phalanx rings, on along with my spartan hoplon, warwolf belt,angel earring, hospitalier earring
 
Masterorion, you're arguing about a whole different ballgame. HNMs/etc is not exactly the same thing as EXP parties. This guy is talking about what he does as a PLD in EXP parties, not fighting HNMs. That's why he doesn't carry HP gear.

I'd actually like to see how this guy does; I've never partied with him. All of you keep saying his role is not being a DD. You misinterpret him. He's actually being a tank by pulling off more damage. Dealing damage gives you a gradual hate over time, not hate spikes like Flash or Provoke, and more gradual hate over time is stronger than hate spikes.

If he was a DD, he would have none of the other gear he mentions, but pure DD gear. That's not the case, and he doesn't use DD gear all the time; he switches equip. To be pulling off that kind of damage he does is nice for PLD. That will draw more gradual hate for him. =/

like if you want more ATT or DD gear as pld, you lose abiltiy to reduce def and lost off VIT and def,

if you want more def and vit, you lose ability to able to hit the mob or do good damage out of it

Yes, Xean said it right before me. He's only 71 and obviously haven't participanted in much HNM fights. So basically his gameplay only revolves around EXP parties and NOT HNM/god fights, where in XP parties, VIT/def > HP.

I am no PLD but i do believe if you only boost ur HP for XP section rather than def/VIT, you'd only hurt your party in stead of helping them. And i believe in XP parties MP is pretty important to pld too right? According to my past experience, unless ur tank has less than 1400 hp you shouldn't have too much trouble against xp mobs, but God is definately another story.

Now i am just wondering if there's other healers that have partied with the OP and vouch for his performance? and also if the OP can reply to posts with a more apropriate manner then i think people wont be that harsh on you.

That's why there's gear swap macros.
 
A paladin is a tank and should only worry about defense and not dmg. I am trying to find the perfect blend of defense/attack

ONCE AGAIN I PLAY BY THE DMG I RECIEVE FROM THE MOB IF IM GETTING MY ASS KICKED I GO ALL OUT DEFENSE!!!!!!!!

The fire is getting low put more wood its getting cold out here!
 
The ability to take virtually no damage doesn't matter one single bit if you're not the one getting pounded on. Damage factors into overall hate, and one needs to find the right balance where they do enough damage to maintain hate yet keep enough def/vit to minimize the amount of MP expended to keep them alive.

So do you switch food too?

I mean... Damage dealers that don't use the proper food suck, as I would imagine you do.

If you do use DD food, then you are neglecting your duties as a tank.

I was in a party yesterday with a 75 pld that was using Bioled crab :nono:

I had a friend bring me some tacos out to the camp and I told the pld (who was jp) <Boiled Crab> <Too Weak>, gave him a taco, and he stopped gettting his ass kicked because he had 100 more defense, among other things.

Ya can't do both. The sooner you learn this, the better off you'll be. As a pld, If you don't use acc food, yer not gonna hit em enough to make a difference unless you have acc gear.

You are wanting to be a jack of all trades. You will end up being a master of none.

Well I can tank well even without Taco ^.- happen to me couple of time lol, i tank for like 15 minutes without noticing my food wears off and i still tank great (take 30-80 damage depends on the mob), I guess I'm the best PLD out there Hahahaha:paladin: ftw! :ph34r: {Too weak}
 
yep i switch food if i have to but i start off with taco. if ya read i start off with all defense gear on. the i slowly change, ya know test the water? after its safe and food wears i see how much dmg i take with no food and my dmg gear on, if the dmg is below 100 then its ok. But if i have all my defense gear on and dmg is in the 80-100 i will not switch! i am exp in the wrong spot and mobs are IT++ and shield dmg is always is in the 30's when u are in exp party.i dont include shield dmg when i talk about dmg i block alot.

also is it just me or when you gat aggro solo and the mob is decent and you cant win. will ur character start being amazing? like my character will double hit like crazy and block with shield alot! like the other day was helping my friends lord, and odinx with coffer key and the casted magic and the earth ele aggro and killed them my hp was around 200 and my dude hp whent up to 500+ and just as it was going to prob kill me i was saved and got a cure 4 from a passing rdm. and i had hercules ring on. i love this damn ring!!!!!!!
 
lol having experiences with below average JP are always fun. I remember about a month ago in the jungle as Warrior, we got a JP Drk/Nin. At least he had a dual set of weapons (axes) with that ugly Nin sub. But his 15-20 damage a hit was just bad. He resorted to using crossbow to try to do more damage. He then stopped doing that and resorted to Great Sword, doing about the same as two hits from his dual axes. After having used up 2-3 pieces of sushi, he finally brought out mithkabob, still doing less. Hard Slash for 55. LOL

And Vandoura, 15 minutes is a lot, but your sig is tight.
 
Guys yesterday i was in an exp party in bibiki bay and we was exp off gob. anglers and the unthinkable happend everysingle goblin will blow up at start of the fight after a few hits boom im dead and everyone else is close to death so i get a R3 and sit out and my buddys decide to keep going. the whm takes a few hits and i just cant sit there while my friends are in trouble and as soon as i pull my sword out and am about to hit it boom.... dead again. after i get up again and full heal. we started again and another time gob with insane life blows again but i didnt die, i switched up my gear from taco to meatkabob, and all attack gear. from that point on they they blew a few more times then it stoped. idk what that was about???? my equip change macro dont work anymore i have to remake them. the people i was in party with are my friends and they can tell i was not doing as great as i do till i switched to my attack gear. could it be that i adjusted to the hadicap if getting hit harder than most plds? i mean if u play one way for ever you get use to that type of play right? also our whm Daff ^^ who is the best whm ever was using more mp when i was all defense cause the fights will go longer. Oh yeah i also started getting tp faster ans will SC after gainen and lord did and blm mb id berserk warcry and sc with lord right after for light Sc and owning the mob there for taking less DoT (dmg over time if ya dont know). also id like to know whats the best party set up and whats the worst?

I do great when i party with my friends Gainen drk,lordzod sam,daffodil whm, gbo pld(me), who ever we get blm,who ever we get rdm


the worst part for me is not having a rdm in party i can work with most partys but brd i just dont like!!!!

it sucks cause i can never party along time with em so they are passing me up and soon i will be left behind >.< i wish i had more play time to party wit em......

Slowly making it to lv 75 but i will get there someday....
