I hate the RSE quest

Ok, yesterday was my time to do the RSE quest. I already had the key so it should've just been a matter of just finding the chest and opening it.

I get to the Maze, and a friend tells me that he just got his piece of pattern. So, I think alright, I'll farm for a bit and wait for the respawn.

Well, I don't know if there's a NM in the Maze or what, but a group of high levels comes in and starts farming everything. I'm thinking great! I can just walk up to the chest and open it... Then I see they are opening the chest too. :?

Fine maybe they are on the quest so I send a tell. I find out they are just farming, and even worse, they aren't on the RSE quest so I have to wait even longer for respawn. :(

End result is after 4 1/2 hrs, I only saw the chest once. And that one time a thief ran in and picked it open... :evil:

I really really hate this quest, and as an Elvaan RDM, I really really need my RSE. Has anybody else had experiences like this or is it just the Maze?
 
lol all I have to say is get used to it. The maze is generally a less farmed zone but there are some very expensive items that drop in shakrami (the biggest being the peacock charm 36hr spawn). When you get into your 50's and can do your coffer hunts, the maze is a cakewalk. Try camping coffers in castle otozoja with about 10 65+ thfs popping them in hopes of an astral ring.

Its just a big pain in the ass basically Im sorry to hear it went rough for you thats whack.
 
I'm pretty sure that there is no respawn time anymore, so you shouldn't have had to wait. As soon as the treasure chest is opened it respawns somewhere else. I've seen some evidence of this, as I opened a chest in gusgen mines (and completely by accident obtained my Magical Pattern... I wasn't even trying =) I walked away, and in the very next room I saw the treasure chest again. You should go to one of those sites with the treasure spawn points (they're missing a few spots, but still have good info). Good luck to you!

Your right about the immediate respawn if the person opened the chest on the RSE quest, but if the opener isn't on the RSE quest, I believe it takes a bit for the chest to respawn. Either that or I just missed it as I wondered around the maze...
 
I feel your pain..

I *shudder* bought 3 of my 4 pieces.. 71,000g

I haven't had time to go farm the keys and get my money back since.... I got one.. with high level help... finding the chest was the hardest part.. farming keys was easy.. even as a group of 2 30th lvl people... rdm and mnk.. we did the worms..

anyways.. I'm not a fan of that "quest" either..
 
Back when I was doing my RSE, I found Ordelle's Caves to be the easiest place to do it. Getting the key was actually the hardest part of it, as it only drops from Goliath Beetles (amoung a few other higher lvl mobs), and if you don't want to run through some serious aggro, you have to just camp the one spawn point. One will spawn every ten minutes or so (or it seemed like ten at the time :P).
Anyway, in the same area as the beetle spawn point is 4 chest spawn pops, so it's really easy to just run circles around that room, checking for it. I was in and out within an hour if I had already gotten the key beforehand.
 
its the opposite for me. Gusten Mines is the easiest because all of the chests are close and if your a high level that can kill the key droppers its the best. and you can mine while you wait for another chest :D
 
well, I prefered getting my RSE in the maze than at the otehr 2 places...
took me like 4 1/2 hrs to get my complete RSE on chiimi XD

I will not talk about Cleofis' time getting RSE. Well i'll say it was ok up until the hands. I will NEVER EVER do RSE again because of the time it took me to do that.
 
RSE was easy for me since I was a THF. I got 1-2 patterns a round there.
My problem atm is rse sachets because I aint got a clue where to look.

Why would you still post in the forum if you really don't care? It makes no sense at all. Just walk away if you want to quit. Don't go out the emo attention whore teenager way.
