Well I bit the bullet and bought a new car this week...A sexy fine 02 Mazda Protege 5. What's the problem? It's a standard

I've always wanted to drive a standard but this was a bad weekend to learn...why? BECAUSE IT WON'T STOP SNOWING!!!! Of all the freakin weeks for Calgary to be covered in little white "piss me offs" it had to be this week. Is it stopping? Noooo.....

I think I'm going to make a sign that says

"<Please Forgive Me> I'm trying to learn to drive a standard and apologize if you're behind me...." And then put a picture of a taru or something so they can't stay mad...

Snow + Standard = Fun

Make sure its a big empty parking lot!

Snow + Standard + Person who has driven an automatic for 7 years = Pain in the ass

Trial by fire...At least you are getting the hardest part out of the way.

I drive a rear wheel drive, standard.
Snow tires help tremendously.
Not all seasons, but snow tires.

Just make sure you rev to 4000 rpms before you go into 1st gear and turn the wheel all the way to the left. It'll be fun!

Jaz was with me yesterday when this guy was racecar driving his Corolla next to us.
He kept launching it at the red lights.
I had to do something about that.

Then he gave the fly by.

I drove standard for a few years then said screw this went back to automatic.

Damn snow . . . >.>

It doesn't help that the urbanized rednecks next door keep singing christmas carrols as they're working on their truck . . .

We don't get much snow here in DC....but it is definitely nipply out

When I go home to Michigan for Christmas....I will probably DIE. DC weather has spoiled me - I am now a woosie.

It's so nipply here right now I could probably cut glass

Sabs has more worries than bird shit on her car . . . now that we's got sticky snow . . .

someone tiny is in for a face washing

Bring it mofo...You'll have snow about the groin area so fast you'll end up with an inverted penis!

Tiny...FEH!

LOL- you guys just reminded me of something my friend Sean always said once it started to get cold . . .

"It's a tit nipply out. I wish it were hooter."

I love the snow although we rarely see it here in the lowlands of Arizona.

I have to deal with it every year when we go skiing or snowboarding in Cali, Utah, or Colorado.

No worries though the ol chains are REQUIRED to go up the mountain and my truck is like a snow plow anyway.

Now my little economy car on the other hand would be an absolute nightmare.

Forgot where I was going with this so....ummm...good luck.

Take Care,

Mo....

Lol reminds me of last year when a freak snowstorm hit Oregon. All over the news there was crap about this ONE hill in Portland where nobody could stop and there were like 50 accidents. Me, coming from Alaska, in the land of shit drivers....Im like...."hmmmm"

Wish I had my trusty Pontiac Sunbird with a badass E-brake! I was sooo good with that. Coming outta school blast it and hit the wheel hard left. Right when you get on the street accelerate and presto! You have perfectly slid into the correct direction and lost no speed at all. Ahh the good ol days.
