I don't mind helping people at all. But what sucks is that you help them with something, and then they become your stalker. Not with stuff they really need help with, but stuff like, "Where is this NPC?" I sometimes pretend I am afk for those questions, because that is outright laziness. You could use WS and find them on your map, or just look for them the old fashioned way. I'm talking about town NPC's, not NPCs in a cave or anything.

Things like helping people get flag quests done, cool. Need coffer drop? I'll help. Tower run for 3-3? No problem. But when someone says "Where is Yoran-Oran?" <um...> <Excuse me> Look at your map... see Yoran-Oran's house? <Hmmm.>

I have my own character to play, I don't have time to play anyone elses.

Half of you will tell me if I don't like it stop helping people. The other half will feel my pain on this one cause you know someone like this, lol. I don't care, I'm just venting. This game is a prime example of "You take the good with the bad"

I hate it when you realize it is too late to pretend that you don't understand english...

Tell people so sub Ranger, and go to (blank) zone and wide scan it. Its what I tell the lazies.

I do not know how many times I hae pretended not to speak english to get out of helping beggers. Its real bad when my bazaar or search comment is in English though...

Halifirien and I helped a couple guys through mission 2-1 for Windurst the other evening - which was total overkill since everyone involved was at least lv. 30 - and ever since then it's been nonstop questions from one of them. Things ranging from "Where do I level next?" to "What kind of music do you listen to?" It's working my nerves over. I tell people to get the game guide so they can do things on their own, but it's like some of them think they already have one - mine. My blacklist is going to start growing, I just know it.

I know what your talking about all to well..

see I do not mind helping either but thees a difference between me helping you and doing it for you. and some folks just think once you helped them they can just hit you up every 2 minutes for something else. iSure I dont mind answering questions but please ATTEMPT to find the info before just mindlessly asking me. there are so many sites and documents written by players if people woul djust take a few minutes to look first. sue if after you cant find it or have made an effort ask me if i know the answer I woll be happy to help.

I completely understand that. I mean, I'll help people with some missions, or something, but if you can't do easy things, like find an NPC, you have a real problem. I often tell them, <um..> <I'm sorry, I'm busy now> Or, just plain old tell them to find it themselves. it's a real pain in the ass >.<

I've helped out alot of people with things, never had anyone do this kind of thing to me, guess i better count myself lucky :D

Worst I think is people wanting gils. Honcho was the last one to do this to me yesterday.

Honcho: Hey man
V: Yes?
Honcho: I need 2000 gils
V: ..... well good luck getting it

What the hell is that all about? Do these people think we'll go Here here, please take the gils and be my friend!!!

I've had new players ask me for gil after curing them or giving them buffs, at which time I explain the AH system to them and tell them the items they should keep an eye out for when fighting. Then, if I have time, I take them to Port Windurst and show them the boats where they can buy low level armor, weapons and spells.

A stranger asked me for 5k in Port Jeuno the other day, just totally out of the blue. If you're in Port Jeuno you're quite capable of getting that 5k on your own.

I know the feeling, I have this one guy (leaving the name out because I believe he is a nice guy) that I beat the tar out of while hunting NM's one nite. well he got all upset and I thought I'd offer some pointers on hunting this particular Nm , seeing as how i was done and leaving.... I hear from him literrally everyday since then.

Now it's not some kind of friendship or anything, I get /tells about when he levels, where he should go to level, what he should do for every quest he gets, how to hunt other nm's, PL requests, how much xp am I making, crafting advice, can I come out and show him where something is, etc.... C'mon man figure this shit out for yourself , I did! I even had to buy the stupid guide and learn all the kool sites.... I am just a second from /blisting him everytime. I think somepeople just find it easier to get someone else to do the legwork for them so they can spend the time doing what they like instead.

I have my own character to play, I don't have time to play anyone elses.

agreed.

Reminds me of the noob who caught me roughyl two weeks back, in such a good mood, that I offered 5k when he begged for money, and started flaming on me for "being cheap". -_-;

Honcho is my friend in real life, but it makes me mad when I farm for arrows and he begs for spells. On a side note, one time he meant to say in ls "3k away from <some spell>!" but said in /say and some guy bought the spell for him. I think that's the closest he's ever come to getting a spell a respectable way lol.
