I have an idea

The only way that this idea will work is if everyone agree's with my idea or just blows it off and tells me that the subject is old and hell with everybodies gil amount. But I've come up with an idea for High level people in the server to balance out the Auction house prices. I don't know if anyone would like to try out my idea but that's up to everyone. And note that if you guys don't want to take the idea you can forget about it. K? Good.

Anyway to the idea. I was thinking that the NM monster spawns as well as the Farming spots like Zi'tah should be overruled with normal players like you and me. Reason why is that if we raid those spots and beat gilsellers and greedy people to the punch, you can grab those items that are worth alot and sell them for cheap. Like when the Auction house started in the beginning. So if we start beating them to the punch and selling the items for cheaper, people will stop buying gil online and stop buying the on going inflated prices. If you think about it though it might not be a bad idea and try it out. But only high level people like yourselves (level 60 and up) can actually do it.

So if you guys work together and stop moaning about prices going up lets take action. Farm those items and sell them for cheap. This way the Auction house might give a better chance to new coming players into the server and ourselves with new jobs. But like I said, if you guys don't want to take the idea then that's all the servers choice.

Discuss if you wish or reject the idea. Your choice.

It's a great, utopian idea. Sadly, I can already forsee people using those items to sell them for the already overblown price, or just a lack of will to act altogether.
Yeah. I think it's a wicked idea, but it'd be way too hard to get everyone all together at once and just do something like that.

And if some random Joe (or Jane) gets the item at a discount, there is nothing keeping them from putting the item up on the AH for the inflated amount.

Nice idea tho... ;)

The only reason things were cheap in the beginning is that there was simply not as much currency around. Even if you start selling things for not much at all, you do not address the issue that there are billions of gil on the server. Someone will buy your item for 10k, and resell it for 10m in a blink of an eye.

My problem is that the gil sellers schedule > mine.

Quoted for truth.

I agree. I'm not saying that it will work. But it depends on what the server wants. If the server wants inflation to continue then Quetz will eventually die and people will get angry, stop playing, and say hell with FFXI all together. It takes the people to revive the game. Not SE or anyone else. It's the players. No one else.

It's only half the battle if you think about it. Only way that a plan will work is to build a group. Or many groups of people. Or just have the Auction house stay the way it is.

Inflation is a natural part of any economy, the only thing that's going to cause FFXI to die is boredom.

its a solid idea, if you could get anyone to play along...but greed will prevail.
also, selling the items at a cheaper rate really wont work anyways, (unless you bazaar the items), cause i'll admit i rarely put anything up on the Jeuno AH for more than 200 gil...but do you think anyone bids anything other than a few K under the current price..no..lol

Nothing is funnier than putting up multi-million gil items for 200 gil, only to have them sell for full price in mere seconds. simple pleasures....hehe

FFXI's economy = Going to retardation.A 5 mil hauby is now 13 mil ... lol its going to hit the fan soon

A 5 mil hauby going for 13 mil means that it's not a 5 mil hauby, it's a 13 mil hauby.

an item's value doesn't easily change. sure the numbers are biggers but i bet things are proportionately priced compared to everything else... big tickets items have gone up in price, but so have farmable commodities, hell sometimes the farmables that make the craftable cost more than the craftable like damascus ingots. smart players, who farm instead of bitch, level up, do bcnm, just play the game well will have no problems getting anything they desire
