I started lvling my DRK about a week and a half ago. When I told my LS and some friends that I was gonna do it they all go:

"lolDRK" and "You're goin' emo on us Davi?"

I was a bit perplexed as to why they'd think a job would change my personality but my question is why some DRKs on here emo-ish with angst and pain and [insert dark and evil symbolisms and metaphors here].?

Because someone came up with the idea and because most people that go to this forum like to "jump the bandwagon" so the rest followed suit?

Best way to look at it, is as a "fad". Somehow, someone starting saying it and then the majority started saying it. Its possible that the reason it was created in the first place is because there were actual DRK players that acted "emo", but who knows really. Its just a stereotype to me, so I don't really give it any more attention than that.

Blame the Brady guide and a few popular DRK macros that made the rounds not long after the PS2 release in NA. It wasn't pretty.

That and we have a job ability called Last Resort.

I never thought of DRK as emo. I just think of the job as a WAR/BLM that beats the living shit out things with a GS or Scythe.

Heh.. it's pretty much the whole 'Last Resort' Linkin Park macro's that some people have made. Then there are those that just like to /wrist all the time. It does get old, and it's a bit of an annoyance whenever someone says "lol ur so emo 'cause ur a loldrk' or some such sillyness. But.. What can you do? Just shrug and continue on, though that's not to say there aren't emo's out there who decided to pick up the job just because it seemed the most emo.. heh, that's kind of funny, but I'm sure that may very well be a reality too. Never know. ^^;

Because they're the spawn of Death? Closest job to death? They have an ability that drains away their HP towards death. I also know a lot of drks that whine and complain when they do die too lol.

I guess you can kind of look at it as something like a stereo-type. People with glasses and intelligently smart = nerds, Blondes = dumb, etc. etc.

So Drk = Emo, Whm = The Helper, Rdm = refresherwhore, etc. etc.
