I have no idea how these full size ads come about. I remember we had one like that for Ford SUVs a while back. I read elsewhere that full size ads means that someone used the "Advertise on this site" link to specifically request an ad to be placed here. No idea who and how, but that's what I read on the Internet /nod.
 
I LOL'd. I always think the same thing when I see that ad.

i never see the ads on this site cause i have the firefox plug in that removes ads and unwanted scripts ^^

I recently read an article about that, pretty good write-up about the evilness of adblock (or adaware or whatever that plug is called). Take QCDN, if all QCDN users would use Adblock, then there would be no QCDN.

I do agree that there are plenty of web pages with highly intrusive ad placements or designs, but for many enthusiasts web sites whatever small revenue the ads bring in means the difference between staying online or shutting down.
 
Ieeee, better not talk too much about this type of thing, it's true thread hijacking and it would give business owners ideas.

As for that ad-aware pop-up/ad blocker... that thing is a Nazi. Flat out. Nazi.
You can't change your homepage without it reverting it back because it detects a change in your registry. Nazi.

and mine never does that to my home page...
