I was wondering.. With all of the xpacs and the such installed at base and starting completely from scratch - when will I actually get to do some of the Expansion stuff? I remember CoP's had a 30~ area but that required a decent gear set and I have no idea how much they cost on Quetz now etc.

What should I level to get to the max level now? Mostly solo'n or doing a 2 person party with my wife. And what should she use with my class? I would assume a healer / DD obviously, but I figured since most people have said they really increased the ability to solo or small party kill I wanted to see what you guys had to say.

What has really really changed in the game since the nigh end of ToAU (I played up to sea and that's about it.) I never got to play with level sync or anything like that and would like to know how it works or anything that might be helpful.

-Thanks

CoP areas are now all uncapped, though high level mobs have been added to some of them. Not hard to avoid them though, and apparently the Promied can be soloed now.

Expansion wise, get the Abyssea pack if you want to get to cap quickly. 50k/hr exp alliances, no joke.

What's the level req on Abyssea? Or is it something that scales with your level / Alliances level

75 basically. If you're starting over again, it'll obviously take you a while to get there, but once you do, you can burn through the last 5 levels in a single party.

Alternately, in support roles, you can go earlier, but most melee aren't particularly impressive pre-75.

Alright, thanks Rae.

Any suggestions on what to level up quickly to get to max? As afore mentioned you said Support roles would get in earlier at ease (i.e. Bard RDM DNC etc?) or would those not be that fast to level up in general.. like through grinds or partying my way to 75.

When I played being a PLD DRK and NIN were pretty easily invited to parties, DRK and NIN especially in ToAU.

Ironically, once you get into the mid-ranges, jobs with piercing (like DRG) get a fair number of invites to level-synced bird parties in WotG Ronfaure. NIN seems to be out of favor, DRK has always been sketchy, but level sync makes it all rather difficult to predict.

Well, I'm back on and solo'n out in East Sarutabaruta. And damn it is hard to make money again starting from scratch. Crystals sell for way less and in Windy it's seldom done it seems heh. Anyone feeling nice enough to help me out with some lowbie melee gear? Leveling a Warrior / Monk to 30~ then most likely a SAM or PLD from there, maybe MNK to higher levels since I never leveled it before (post 30 that is)

Edit: My new character's name is Sakujou btw ;x

Well, welcome back to you as well. I don't think I ran into you before.. though I might have.
Hope your new experience goes well!

i can try to craft some low level monk gear.

Hey there Ronith, and welcome back ^^

My OCD never allowed me to sell any of my lowbie gear, so I'll see what I got that might do ya some good. Also, don't sweat the lower prices. I'm sure you've already noticed that prices have pretty much dropped across the board :P

Fast paths to 80 remain largely unchanged - Brd, Rdm, and Whm for support, or for melee Sam, War, and (surprisingly) Drg with all the new popular xp mobs being weak to pointy things. Also, from what I gather, Plds see far, far more invites than they used to.
