So lately I've been seeing a lot of posts on alla about people wanting to start RP linkshells. Well, I was wondering if any of you all were interested in this. Honestly the entire idea seems really weird to me... But, it could be fun to try it.. Well let me know if anyone is interested in starting an RP shell.

If people are interested, I'll make a shell for it. Also, this linkshell should not be anyone's main ls unless you're a hard core RPer. Just let me know what you guys think and we'll go from there.
 
Nah, it's not weird at all. I know a few other rpers on the server that were wanting to possibly start an RP ls. I know that I would have loved to have been in one also. So I know they're out there, just gotta find em.
 
RP like Role Playing? Like imagining you're a tarutaru black mage on a non-existant world called vanadiel where giant chickens serve as transportation?

I don't get it. Can someone clarify this?

I did once like 16 years ago. Anyone have a link about this topic? Something I can read during the boring hours at work. My interest has been sparked. lol.
 
I don't have a link for you, Pak, but I think I can provide some examples of what's being discussed here. At its most basic, RP-ing would be folks adopting the speech patterns/idiosyncracies and attitudes of their respective races(the proud, vaguely aboriginal Galka, Elvaan acting like the hotheaded medieval Klingons that they are, etc.). You can expand that outward into creating "back story" for your character, never discussing game mechanics in LS chat, and so forth.

Example
Tarumage: don'taru you ever use an Earth staff?
GalkaPld: *pfft* Staves are for Humes and skinny Elvaan.

Since this was my first MMO, and my closest "group gaming" experiences were all based around D&D, I wasn't really sure what to expect as far as RP-ing went. I took some time to at least think through why a Hume adventurer(me) would choose San d'Oria as his home nation. Naturally, it was because I was taken in by an Elvaan family after my own parents were killed in the fall of Davoi.

The funny thing is, all of us (at least most of the people I know) RP to some degree or another without even realizing it. We do it every time we think of ourselves as being a specific job at heart or use "me" instead of "my character."
 
Im in one but I couldn't recommend it...it can get really um...unpredictable good luck with that

Unpredictable as in the plot goes every which way, or unpredictable as in hot tarutaru on elvaan sex?


And I'd be interested in such a shell, used to be in Nightblades (broke off of CrimsonPirates for some reason, I wasn't around when it happened anyway), it's tried to revive a couple times but never worked out.

Crimson Pirates is still around but under different management after three years.

Smaller than it was in its prime, they are still a bunch of great guys. Most of the time, they get on late since a good number of them are on the west coast.

Lol. I am greatly amused by this. If I wasn't planning on quitting again I'd amsolutely love to join. Goodness nows enough people know me as one of the cutest rping tarus on our server. Just Reau, lol. But I wish you goodluck in starting the rp LS. Not many get off the ground.

Its funny but personally I always pictured the Elvaan's as more sedate Romulans (still with passion) rather than bloodthirsty Klingons, those I attribute much more to the Galka. I mean some of the galkan mannerisims and gestures were just perfect for any proud Klingon warrior.

I tend to rp somewhat myself as do several friends I know, this usually is restricted to bantering between the various races we are in LS, party, etc but I can see it quite easily taken a step further in what I read here.

I used to rp D&D quite alot years ago and have even written some short fiction on characters I created, in some ways that carried over to what I create when I start a new character in a consule/pc rpg also, the more customisation I am allowed the better I can design.

Neat idea by the way I hope it flourishes. :)

talk to kayleen then, it goes everywhere it depends on everyones mood if everyone is in a fantastic mood then expect me to get caestrated a few times or killed @_@...

You know I might actually grab Tarn, Smu, Kay, and me and head there and make everyone link a worm then make everyone /kneel or /bow for a screenshot for my SS gallery

It sounds hilarious just thinking about it
