I love Marids.

Been thinking about leveling on these with my lvl 66 nin.. Seems like a pld would be a better tank here, but if I were to try them as nin tank, what's the basic strategy? Just keep the marid on me while it makes fleas and let the DDs kill them before they take me out? >.>

Yeah, that's basically how it works. There's a twist though, if you do a weaponskill, a jump or a critical hit on a chigoe, and the chigoe doesn't die from that attack; it will basically drop dead itself and yield no exp. Just have to be a little careful and it's great exp. You just slowly wear down the marid's HP while chain-killing the spawned fleas, it's kind of a melee version of the massive exp chains blm's were getting in sea.

If you start running when they start a TP move, you can be out of aggro range for the Chigoe when it pops, so a ninja could easily get by doing that, leaving the Chigger to the melee.

I'd say the only bad thing about these mobs, atleast that I've seen, is that you need a good back up healer.
I'm saying that asa Whm too, I'm glad that I had my buddy(rdm) in the party with us, Convert saved our tails a couple of times when we decided to extend the chain longer then normal.
Also with a Paladin tank the when ever it did the Voraishish(sp?) Trunk, the TP move that absorbs a buff, it kept stealing the Pld's protect lol... 65mp everytime + a Dispel from the Rdm.
However I still would prefer a Pld over a Nin, it's kind of like a safety net that I like to have. IE things go really wrong and I have to Benediction, I know that there is a good chance that i'll live through it. With a nin basically it's Benediction >>> Flash >>>(pray)>>>>Stoneskin>>>(pray)>>>Die. =/

5k exp in about 20 minutes, with 1 ring charge so 4k exp normally. Best pre-merit party exp ever.

Chigoe stay EM through 71 except for the very rare 70 one.

edit: finally broke chain 40 I'm up 14k exp and I'm still on my first sole sushi, with the food duration buff and 2 exp ring charges.

Wow, Cool Baj! I talked to Cythe a couple nights ago and he tipped me off about the Marids, only it turns out that MNK don't seem to be a preferred job for those. Ended up doing a couple parties on the Date Eurica's though, extremely easy monsters, respawn very fast, and are so squishy. Dragon Kick was doing some very crazy numbers while fighting them, was pretty fun. I'd like to try this Marid party sometime however, sounds like a good time! Congrats again Baj and Co.
