First off i have been lvling 3 jobs on and off. Lvling these 3 jobs is starting to effect the gil, i got all my gil from just farming stuff , everything i got i sent it to a mule after my RDM turned 50, i had about 250-400 k saved. I then started my other 3. DRG is 41, WAR is 25 and BST is 11. My gil can no longer hold my DRG over sole sushi is just eating me up and trying to buy an axe for my WAR got rediculas after i saw the price history was 4500. i tried to buy it and offred up to 7k and i still couldnt obtain it, so i stoped WAR for a while not to mention buying tools sucked.

BST ... Pretty fun job and from lvl 5-11 i made some good gil, well good gil for just lvling, tons of crystals and plant seeds for my garden on my mule.

Ok now that didnt have much to do with my question just a little BACKGROUND on where i stand.

My questions are as follow:

1. BST - I am in lathiene (spelled wrong i am sure) and XP isnt the greatest, it is constant with is nice low to no down time but what is the proper way/thing to charm and what is the proper way/thing to fight.
-i useually charm decents or evens but there seems to be an XP hit. i then fight toughs, maybe 40 xp.
- How do i chain and what else do i need to know.

2. DRG - I need to start my AF stuff soon is there a guide someplace that well help me with doing these quest, i solo most things and it takes me forever to do (i solo ranked 5, it took me forever to find those magicite spots)

3. WAR - I have been subbing NIN is that the right thing to do or should i go back and LVL MNK, i like using the 2 axes though.
-Does a WAR at 25 with NIN sub Usually play like a DD role or Still a tanking role.
-Dex or STR .... What do i need?

I am sure someone with a great mind :P will come across answer my questions thanks in advance.

1. The changes in a recent patch to exp mean you can experience solo (as in solo, running around hitting things, not solo charming mobs) far further than you used to be able. I soloed BST recently in Lathene, and could still get 2-3k an hour just killing saplings and bunnies with a Scythe all the way to level 16.

As a BST you want to be charming EMs and DCs and fight EMs and Ts, although at low levels high T's will cause you a lot of problems. Ideally, you should plan your fight so that your pet dies when the mob has only a couple of hits left in it. You can then finish the mob off and get full exp for it. Even if your mob is still alive at the end, though, you will still get 70exp for an even match (unless you have a T pet which you really want to avoid).

You can control the speed of the fight by using enfeebles on the mob (Dia makes the mob die quicker, Slow, Paralyse, Bio, make your pet live longer), and by melleeing and even tanking a little to make your mob last longer. For quite a few levels though exp using a pet will be pretty slow, and you won't get many chains past 1... At L35 you get "Leave", and the exp apparently picks up a lot...

Depends greatly on race and what you'd like to do with the job for DD you're going to do roughly the same dmg give or take (not counting WSs) with a Gaxe wielding war/mnk.

War/nin at any level past utsu: ichi can basicly pull dual roles without much effort at all, you're GOING to do dmg and still not take it, not quite sure how to answer this. Best i can say is it goes with pt setup.

Best bet on the str vs dex problem is both. The answer to this question is reflected greatly by race at lower levels where gear doesn't compensate much for racial instability. As a galka i buff dex usually as i have a surplus of str conversely Andreva as a mithra buffs str as he has a ton of surplus dex. All in all i take attk+ and acc+ over the main stat buffs anyday.

Flexibility is a war's best friend, in the matter of a fight i can switch from DD to tank with the flick of a couple macros ... course i don't sub nin and i'm galkan so take it with a grain of salt.

Just my thoughts, hope it helps some ^^

As a lvl 11 BST just fight worms in the Highlands. You can easily get to 13 this way (and I guess get to 16 solo according to Blowy, that's cool, I'll have to try and get NIN to that lvl solo lol) Anyway at 13 you can start charming DC sheep and lizards (if you're still in the Highlands) and take on EM-T gobs and quadavs. Go after Onyx Quadavs whenever you can, they may con T+ at times but they are *weak* for their con.

EXP wise you should get much more than 40 exp for a T fight. You might have accidently charmed another T which further cuts your exp. With the 30% exp cut from EM or weaker pets a T mob one level above you should give you 84 exp. EXP chains......don't worry about them at your level. The TNL's are so low you'll gain levels like no tomorrow.

For more great BST info just look at the stickied topics on allakhazam's BST forum. There's a couple leveling guides, AF guide, general BST guide, just to name some. 8) Good luck!

also.. for Lv.15 BST when you get the JA Stay a neat trick to do if you are having trouble getting the pet to survive then die when the mob has a few hits is this:

If your pet is surviving and killing whatever you are fighting, stand just out of "hate" range.. you can tell you are out as its just when the pet/mob disappears on your radar. When the mob you are fighting is near dead, hit this macro:

/ja "Heel" <me>
/wait 1
/ja "Stay" <me>

This will make your pet stop attacking and sit there taking hits.. when it dies the mob you were fighting will come after you. Time this right and you can take it out in one swing as its running towards you without it ever hitting you and recieve full XP.

-Silf

What Silfer says. This is just like using Leave, but you lose a pet and it takes longer, but you don't take an exp hit.

Stay isn't needed to kill off your bst pets. You can just use heel when you are out of the mob's range (as in, you can't see the red dot on your radar anymore). Sure the pet will come running to you but assuming the mob has no AoE there isn't any reason to Heel->Stay unless you just like watching the mob run toward you after your pet dies.

Honestly, you shouldn't be charming anything until the crabs by the ponds starting conning DC-T. Then grab DC-EM crabs and throw them at EM-T crabs. Don't fight alongside your crab unless it's getting pwned. If fighting along and you get hate, unlock target and turn around to stop attacking. You can also kill the gob fishers and worms in those areas without bothering to use pets.

The crabs are good until about 14-15 then you can use Dhalmels in Tahrongi Canyon for a few levels until about 17 (you can also do bats vs maze makers in the Maze if you'd like, I did). Then go to Carpenter's Landing from North Sandy entrance for bst heaven.

As for war, I'm going war/nin as a mithra (currently lvl 35). I don't have any +dex stuff on (in fact I have a few -dex things on like brave belt and those gigas bracelets I don't remember the name of). I use +str everything and eat meat (unless the mobs con high evasion then I eat sushi). I have no trouble keeping up tp with other melee and I do very nice damage.

It always bothered me that people dual weild at such a low level with ninja sub, especially with just normal weapons. You're better off just equipping a Shield that gives some stats/resists.

Ok! For WAR it's generally best to use a great axe up until level 55ish (at the latest). You'll do some awesome damage and if you sub in THF for Sneak Attack.. well.. let's just say my friend pwned all other DD jobs in his party with his level 40ish WAR/THF. I'd go with WAR/MNK up to level 30 cause that's prolly the best tank you can get. PLD can take hits but can't hold hate as well as a WAR/MNK (I've taken hate off PLDs :D) and a NIN might be able to keep hate but will require vast amount of gil and if shadows go down.. well.. NIN gonna make them mages waste MP. NIN don't become really good tanks until level 37 of coarse, but still decent tanks from 12-37 if you don't like WAR for some reason :\ WAR/THF isn't really good until level 30 anyways (which you are approaching). The reason I say WAR/NIN isn't as good as a WAR/MNK and then a WAR/THF until say.. level 55 is because most single handed axes just don't cut it for the damage with the delay they have and even dual wielding doesn't help too much. The Great Axes aren't THAT slow and will yield much more damage and. if you are tanking, add more hate toward you. Especially when you do a WS into the easy 150s or so. Then with MNK sub you get Counter which is nice.. double attack + great axe just pwns for keeping hate... of coarse provoke every 30 seconds and then boost every 15. Every 5 minutes use defender to get hate and then cancle it (or keep it on if you think you need that extra defense for tanking but against certain mobs it isn't helpful really) and when you WS have a macro that uses Berserk for that added damage and then cancel that (unless you aren't tanking and want that extra DoT). So many go for the WAR/NIN aspect and I'm not quite sure why other than you get the utsusemi: ichi spell and dual wielding which makes people think you r teh uber 1337 when really I can take hate so fast from you with my WAR/MNK and make the mages use less MP healing others as I hold hate and then counter kicking in of coarse makes the mob hit me less which is less MP used which is less down time which is more fighting which is faster exp within an hour. So ya.. WAR/NIN really only gets good at around 55 witht he darksteel+1 Axes :D As for going for STR or DEX... go STR all the way but get some accuracy in there if you can. Majority of WAR's good WS are STR based so you want to have that added STR to increase your WS damage not to mention more STR is also going to increase your basic attack damage. I hope this answered your question about WAR :D I am not the great expert of it but I have 2 friends that rawk at the job and do so much research into it that some of it has entered my mind as well while I raise my WAR. Happy hunting! :D

This is my suggestion for war subs:

1-30: mnk, you'll more than likely be tanking and this will give you more vit, hp, and str and most, if not all subs. Also gives boost which add some hate.

30-50: thf, use a Great Axe and SA+Sturmwind.

50-x: nin, at 25 ninja (50 main with nin subbed), you get Dual Wield 2, which cuts delay by 15%, up until then nin won't help you at all unless you're using 2 axes with +stats (I subbed nin because I didn't have any other subs leveled besides pld and used 2 warriors axes) or tanking, but war/mnk would still be the best tank.

As for +stat items, either go +accuracy/dex with attack food, or +attack/dex with accuracy food. I went accuracy/dex with attack food and WAY outdamaged the other war/nin in my party who was using accuracy food (this was my very last party as war, I plan to pick it up again some day). We're talking nearly double his damage.

Well for me at 25 i found tanking as a Mithra war/mnk extremely good. There are several reasons for this:

1.) MNK gets counter, thus when you are War/Mnk you pick up that counter ability. When leveling in the jungles, mandys attack twice, and fairly weak compared to gobs and such. Thus tanking with counter is great.

2.) Tossing in a Great axe with that MNK sub makes it better. If you are using a PLantbane at 25 with a mnk sub, you would be a great tank. And then double attack kicks in at 25 as well, thus you wont have much trouble keepin hate. Ive hit 4 times in a row before, 2 from double attack and 2 from countering both hits from the mandy and taking 0 damage.

At 30 WAR i personally recommend WAR/THF with a Gaxe. SA with Sturmwind pwns all (or so im told *cries at his 29 war/mnk). Anyways thats what i plan to do with my war....

It does around 300-400 damage if I remember correctly. But thf also gives you higher dex so you hit slightly more.

Dex increases the amount you hit? O.o I thought it was just increasing the chance of critical :D oh well.. I'll learn!

I thought it was 2 AGI = 1 ACC O.o
