Is there anywhere in Vanadiel that guarantees this weather ? This is the last weather type that I need to finish my SMN job quest and I am having no luck !

I have tried Valkurm Dunes and both Yhoator and Yuhtunga Jungles with no luck on many occasions. I have also tried Rolanberry Fields and Meriphataud Mountains.

I have not yet been to Eastern or Western Altepa Desert, will I likely get the weather I need there ? Will I be able to get there as a 37 WAR ?

Thanks for any help.

It's rare whereever you go, sadly. I personally got my heat weather in Valkurm. I'm not sure it matters, but it was around midday game-afternoon. I was a newb and thought too logically (that it'd be hottest in the desert with the midday sun) and just happenned to get lucky. I've never seen fire weather at night. A friend of mine got heat weather in altepa, and in the days when I'd level my npc there, I'd see fire elementals every few hours.

Thank you ! That is my problem I think, I am not thinking logically ! LOL !

I will give the dunes another try tonight in the midday sun to see if I can get lucky. Would really like to try SMN soon as I have a friend who wants to level her SMN at the same time.

Thanks again !

:)

Strangely enough, they put seasonal weather patterns in to the game. So if it's a summer time month in game, the chance of heat being available is higher.

Check a weather NPC. :)

Tried that, I just don't seem to be having any luck with getting it.

Go to Altepa Desert via Korroloka Tunnel. To get through the tunnel, go to Bastok Mines -> Zeruhn Mines -> Korroloka Tunnel

Check for some maps. You will need invisible to avoid the giants, and sneak to avoid the jelly and pugils.

I'm not sure but if you go to the jungles, a heatwave from there counts it too. But best bet is to go to the desert where it's more frequent.

Thanks for all your help. I think I will ask my WHM friend if she can escort me with sneak and invisible. Will try and get it tonight.

Note, you can easily travel across without much trouble. 1 or 2 Silent Oils will do, and as long as the Giant doesn't face you, you can sneak behind it.

And if you go with your friend, get her to take you to Rabao, and get the Teleport Altep crystal, maps, and such. Might as well do it all while you're there. For future convenience.

actually, i have noticed that every time i go there, castle oztroja has heat weather. Its easier to get to, and all you need is choco from mea. I had the same problem when i was flagging smn.

Isn't Castle Oztroja classed as a dungeon tho which doesn't count ?

Though its a rare weather occurance, heat wave happens the most in either of the altep deserts. Its worth the trip out there, you can even run over to Raboa and sit in there(the weather outside will show up in town). If you do, bring a fishing pole while you wait, lol, its what i did.

you can have weather in dungeons. I have seen it there so often.

Oh, and btw, I just alteped myself on my whm every time i logged in for a long time, and never saw heat in altep desert.

I got rain and fire both in the marshlands. lightning in Kon<tab> highlands when I zoned out to zone back in for rain lol. and earth in valkurm, that area is good for that stuff.

I just got this off ffxiclopedia:

* The seven "colors of light" that Carbuncle requires correspond to the colors of a rainbow. They are obtained by zoning into an outdoor, enemy-populated area while one of six weather effects is active—the seventh is obtained by zoning into an outdoor, enemy-populated area with no weather effect at all.

* To clarify: "Outdoor" means that you may not zone into a cave or dungeon area to obtain a color.
* To clarify: "Enemy-Populated" means that you may not zone into a town or city to obtain a color.

It seems it has to be an outdoor zone.

He was jus tryna help lol, no need to go to these great lengths to disprove him, and that isn't 100% true, Castle Oz is mostly open courtyards, and Qufim which is out doors/behemoths dominion are both zones where you can not get lightning.

Some zones are exeptions to the rule.

In no way was my previous post meant in a bad way. Apologies if it seemed that way. I wasn't going to any great lengths, lol ! I was already reading the page and I was only posting what I had read, that was all.

I appreciate all the advice and suggestions, every last one of them.

I was in Castle Oz a few days back to get the Magicite and noticed it was open in the courtyard areas. The only reason I said it was classed as a dungeon is because it said so on www.ffxi-atlas.com.

Again, apologies if my previous post was taken the wrong way, it was not intended to be that way.

Go to Valkurn, that's where the pimp SMNs got their weather. ^^

Also, don't go afk while waiting on it. When the weather changes you have to zone out
and then zone back in to get the Carby CS.

hmm, didn't know it had to be "outdoor". I just figured it was wether the weather was there or not.
