well im at my aunts house trying to use her cable modem to connect to ffxi on my ps2.. have my ps2 hooked up.. and an ethernet cable running from PS2 to the modem.. directly to the modem..

this modem is an ARRIS modem.. model CM450A.. im not sure what isp she's using.. i tried checking the modem box for any sender's address or name.. nadda.. i tried checking the arris website (www.arrisi.com) and nothing.. i tried checking playonline for any cable modem fixes.. says 'contact your hardware providor'..tried checking the xbox webpage for something that looks like what problem im having.. nothing..

about all i can describe about whats happening is.. i try to log in.. i *think* it does.. then it goes to 'checking POL version' and just sits.. till it says theres an error.. i have it set up for CABLE connection too.. maybe if someone has a cable connection that takes special stuff you have to put in.. like a server name or something? or anything that *might* help..

well im going to bed.. i'll check this forum tomorrow once i get off work at about 6:00pm Central..

p.s. even if you have a vague guess you know something that'll work.. plz tell me.. (im aware a router would probably fix this problem but i dont have the funds for it atm, so anything you can think of that i dont have to go out and buy something to try, plz post)

p.s.s. i *think* my aunt has comcast.....

Ok i don't know much about this model of modem your dealing with but i know this.....

There is "bridge mode" and there is "Router Mode" Read up about that modem and it's settings and find out what mode it's on.... You might want Router mode, but if it's set to that, then try Bridge mode, and you should be good to go.

ok..

I'm guessing you normally have the cable connection set to a computer?

If so sounds like you need to "power cycle" your modem.

Turn off your modem and ps2 for 1 minute and unplug everything on the modem.
Plug it back in and try again.

If its what I think it is it should work after that.
