Well, there's a number of things I want to ask.

1) I bought a copy of Vana'diel Collection 2009 for 15 bucks that came with the first month free for my XBOX360 (and wow, I miss PC) because my cousins wanted me to play with them on carbuncle (ugh) and I figured hey, 15 bucks, it's worth it I guess to see how the game has changed. But I've only gotten to level 18 before issues arose. I started getting d/c'd off the game randomly today, and my connection and everything was fine. And I'd try to get back on and it would start logging on my character and just say "Downloading Data" on the blackscreen like normal, but it would take like 5 minutes to load, and then an ERROR: 3001 would pop up, sometimes it'd be a 4000 or 4001 as well. Also, I shut off my 360 in anger without fully logging out of POL and I turned it back on and it said disc unreadable, and I have absolutely no scratches on my disc.

After looking this up, I've come to the conclusion that my ffxi file is corrupt on my 360's harddrive, and the only way to make the disc readable again so I can play is to reformat, but I don't even know how to do that without losing all my game data/achievements/profile/add-ons and stuff like that. I don't have an off-hand memory card or anything that I can use to temporarly back-up the data, so I don't know what to do. Help?

2) Another thing that's bugging me, is my old account here on Quetzalcoatl. I cancelled Knightblade & Virtuosus, along with my mules, exactly a year ago in June 2008. How can I go about getting them back if I decide I want to? Because I read that they get deleted after 3 months, but I quit a few years ago for longer than 3 months and came back with them still alive. Is there still a way to get them back, and how can I find out if I can?

To issue #1:

you can try clearing your cache on your hard drive, this sometimes works. Also you will not lose your achievements, or your profile since that data is stored on the xbox live server. If you format you will lose your game save data and have to re-download your game addons, which i believe is free since they are linked to a profile once you have downloaded them.

2: The return to Vanadiel program is on all the time now, i recently got back a character i deleted almost 2 years go. It varies person to person though, some have their characters recovered, while others can't ever get their characters back.

Okay, thanks alot. I only came back because I want to finish the storyline of FFXI before FFXIV comes out. Haven't beaten WotG yet and I hear there's a new add-on as well.

Also, I tried applying for Character Reactivation Program, but it asks me for "a previously used registration code" and I don't have any that were used for my old account, I only have a registration code for the new account I made on Carbuncle. And it says my PlayOnline ID & Password & Registration Code are invalid. I'm not sure about the code, but I'm certain I put in the right ID/PW because I can log in through the FFXI official site and check my past payment information.

What you want to do is copy the disk to the HD of the xbox. I had the same problem. Did shit loads of things but this worked.

Go to system settings then HD, then copy disk to HD. (something like that)

Works great now.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but XI isn't "finished" when XIV comes out. WotG is just heating up (irony, given the next update) and there are two more mini expansions planned. That said, winter 2010 is a long time away, but I wouldn't be so sure FFXI can be "beaten" by then.

As for your old codes, I'm not sure if there's a workaround for that. Some people were able to provide SE customer service with the credit card information used to pay for the original account and allegedly were able to reactivate that way, but I heard about that from a friend of a friend, so take it with a shaker of salt.

Good luck to you, though.

I'll try that out. I remember reading this causing more problems due to the way NXE is on the 360 though?

Thank you. Would my best bet be to call SE then?

Yeah, give it a shot, the worst that happens is they tell you they can't help (which is the case now anyway) and the best that can happen is they give you your characters back. Its not like you'll be penalized for inquiring, so ring them up. Tell them your situation, tell them you moved and lost the original codes but you have the credit card used to pay for the accounts.

Just make sure you have the right credit card, otherwise you're just whistling dixie.

dunno but i had that login problem the other day as well. it'd take like minutes to zone into some areas and other times i'd just d/c while trying to zone. and sometimes i ould d/c after just logging inw.

Don't worry, seems lots of folks had that problem yesterday

Go for Emperor Band. It'll make you feel speshul.
Also, damn you KB. I remember your name, but I forgot how I know you.

We were in an ENM LS together, but I'm positive we met before that. It's been over a year so I don't really remember lol.
