I was watching Colbert where something popped up and made me want to start a new game on FFIX.

But then I kind of just lost the inspiration I had. And now I need some more inspiration so I can play FFIX

I have no idea how to put the youtube videos in here so that you can view them in the actual thread.... but....

this is a pretty neat video from FFIX that i've always liked. Watching it inspires me to want to play it again (I just have too many games at the moment I need to finish before replaying others)

FFIX is one of the best in the series, imo. Why you'd need inspiration to play it again is beyond me.

In all honesty, I never got into 9 as much as I did with the others, IX failed to drag me in as much, I didn't know why. I ended up giving up on the third disc, where you just go back into Zidanes world.

9 was Squaresoft trying to not do anything innovative and different for once, and giving us a really generic RPG. That being said, by being so good, it completely owned that space - the mysterious main character without a past, the princess who wants excitement and needs constant saving, the gameplay mechanics of super nintendo RPGs and contrived plot with weird final-fantasy technophilosophy babble... it did those all so much better than the other generic RPGs that it stayed in the spotlight and made the rest of them easily skippable.

It's not particulary memorable, and I don't feel the need to replay it, but it's kind of the perfect "RPG" archetype cliche that people should play at least once if they're into the genre. Doesn't try out new gameplay like FF12, or push a really unique and oustanding plot like 7 or 10, but it's an overused formula perfected.

Lol basically my only problem with this game is commitment.

Usually once per summer I play the game start to end in like 1 sitting, though at the moment I don't really feel the want to play it. I already have everything set up so here goes nothing I guess.
