I need static help x.x

Norg, my NEW hometown...i wish...
My friends in RL are making a static party, so far we have
DRG/WAR, PLD/WAR, RNG/NIN, BLM/WHM, and WHM/BLM

That leaves me
I wanted to go SAM, however, my friend(the RNG/NIN) says I HAVE TO go BRD.

What would be better for the static, BRD or SAM?
What I was thinking with SAM is that since there are two other DD's and a BLM and since SAM's can Skillchain twice or more a battle and allowing the BLM MB twice or more that it would bring in more damage and kill things a lot quicker, but my friend says "Pfft, we don't need more damage, at later levels I deal 1000 damage or more"
My response: "Yeah, with Barrage or Sidewinder"
He replies: "No, with every basic shot"

Is this true?
Also, should I go SAM or go BRD?
 
Well if SAM is what you want, stress that. No point in playing a job you don't wanna play, stress the point that with a SAM, tons of SCs are avaliable. However...BRDs do kick a lot of ass, if they know what their doing. PTs with PLD and BRD are ussaly really hard to work out. If your being "forced" to with a support class, then RDM will benifit a PLD more.

Just my thoughts on the matter, whenever I was PLD I'd chringe when my PT would say "Sweet got a BRD." It's up to you and just remember to have fun.

Just looked at your set up, you'll want someone that is able to refresh. RDM would also be nice for double MBs.
 
Well, I can tell you at later lvls I hate partying without a brd or a rdm. Too much downtime. I cant imagine making chain 5s without mages getting ballad or refresh. And many of the crabs and stuff you fight are a pain without dispel or magic finale >.>
 
I would say that a rdm would help you out the most. In addition to refresh, dispel is also fairly crucial.
 
brd has dispel(magic finale)

but yeah. brd is better cuz of the enhanceents to everyone and everything. but i could easily live with a rdm in my pt XD
 
Brd could also do hunters prelude, mandigal and others in addition to refresh and dispell.

I question the Rng's comment about being able to do 1000 on a normal hit.

If you want to go Sam, then go Sam. If you aren't going to have fun, then the static wont last long. Maybe they can convince the Drg to go Brd...
 
oh and 1000 a hit...hmm even sidewinder will rarely do that(have yet to see over 800 with it on an xp mob) so yeah. hes still right about not needing more damage though. u have 2 melees and a blm, thats all u need.

It takes a long time to cast, and in most cases you really won't need it, as long as the WHM keeps re-reaise up, he/she can Raise II, or even III you guys, which is a lot better than raise I. It's up to you in the end, i'm just telling you now, that unless you have the perfect formation, BRD and PLD dont mix.

I agree AND disagree at the same time. While yes, you need the perfect formation, it CAN be done, especially in a static. A pickup party, forget it. A Brd has a hard enough time gettin the mages and melee to seperate.

Never said it couldn't be done, but it's also really really easy to break formation and screw it up. PLDs need MP to keep hate, they wouldn't have them if they didn't need them. As for keeping melee and mages seperat there are some camps where this is really hard to do. Just a thought to concider before you make your choice Oni.
 
I can't make the DRG the BRD because he is my closest friend in RL, and this kid LOVES, i mean LOVES dragons

Can't make the BLM a BRD because this kid LOVES fire and burning things...

Making the PLD or WHM BRD, hahaha, no thanks, it was hard enough getting them

Making the RNG a BRD, he wouldn't do it, he is too stubborn
 
Well then it's up to between BRD and RDM. I really do suggest RDM though. It's pretty powerfull. Also what level are all you guys? 71 is probably a really long time from now. Goddes Hymunies, I've heard is only good for Dyamis style things, rarely will your whole PT be whiped out. Like I said just make sure WHM has a re-raise on and you'll be cool. Don't let people make you play a certain job. BRD is nice, and it gives great buffs, but with a PLD they aren't optimle, RDM is. These are just my thoughts on the matter after being PLD and playing with RDMs and BRDs.
 
If your gonna go BRD, then once your done with mages, go do melee buffs, let em hit the PLD. Then head back to your spot that's between the Mages and PLD, with the other Melee out of range, then hit him with ballad.
 
oh...heres an idea. be a sam and tell that drg to be a rdm or brd and u all start static low lvl ^^
