Should I sell my character?

I've been thinking about it since I quit. On one hand it's and easy 200-300 dollars for it, which I can TOTALLY use. I also know I built myself a masterful character, who deserves to be played by a serious player and not a gil-seller.. I am really in a deilema..

{Help me out!}

well i would never sell my char. but who is to say you can profit from your hard work?

well....

alot of people quit....and really come back to enjoy the game <ME> but who knows, if you done...then your done...but remember gil buying and selling and account buying and selling...where does the line get drawn...people flame gil buyer/sellers but you dont hear much about account sellers/buyers...somethin to think about....this is your hard work though....how many hours do you have invested in your game, if you know off hand? or a rough estimate...

Personally, I would say don't sell it. I hear ya when it comes to the money, I know how useful it can be. =P But I know I would not want some jackass running around with the same name I had. The reputation you've built, the friends you've made, the work you've put in, I think that selling your character would be a betrayal of that.

But who am I to argue with the power of the benjamins? ^_~

But the one deciding factor, it would be very uncrunk to sell your character.

I bid the price of a big mac, and a buy one get one free coupon for a 2nd big mac.

Oh and, it's your choice weather to sell it or not, just make sure to drop any linkpearls you have if you do decide to sell. Just remember, you don't know who'll have your name, or what your char will be used for. I guess it depends on if you care about your name in an online game you won't even be playing ~_^ personally I probably would never sell my char, if I could change my name on selling then sure, but something makes me uneasy, what if an asshole buys your char, and old friends send a tell, and stuff like that.

Don't ask for advice here, most of us, myself included would rather not have another high level gil seller our there, and will probably say no you shouldn't, but they're not in your shoes with the money issue. IMO it's just a game, if $200 is alot of money for you, go for it. But if you have a good job or w/e, maybe you could think a little bit about the people you've played with in the past, I'm sure your friends who still play would hate to see your char in unknown hands.

If you sell it, you will be lucky if it's not to a gilseller. If it's not, it will be to a totally retarded douche.

If that's worth a few hundred to you, have at it.

97days invested..

I really don't want a gil-seller to run around, and I don't feel like paying 30bucks to drop the linkpearls and sac i forgot to when I quit

Anyway thanks for any imput it's all good advice

I wouldn't sell it. When your 200 bucks is gone, you'll probably wonder why you sold your name for such a cheap price.

Definitely do not sell that character Neche. My crystal ball tells me you'll be back next summer to play again cuz you'll be totally bitin' at the bit from FFXI withdrawal^^.

See, you guys know I miss FFXI. I don't even have to tell you that, but everyone I know who plays MMORPG is pressuring me to go to WoW.. So the money would also be going to that  I've been thinking anyway, that if i ever do come back, it will be under another name, and just watch, and see how all my minio---- friends are doing.

Thanks for the input, more would be nice so feel free :D

If you still love the game and want it to continue and prosper, don't sell. If you are bitter or angry, and want to help it go down in flames, do sell.

Sums it up very well

I dunno, I'd probably lean on selling it. As much as we'd all hate to see Neche the gilseller running around, it is 200 bucks in your pocket that could very well benefit your life outside of this game.

People may say don't do it, but what should they care about more? We all preach RL > Game, right? Well, it's money for you IRL, in exchange for your character in a game....If I were your coach on the situation, I'd say do what benefits you more. Selling your character will never severely hurt a single friend you had in game unless someone on your character HAPPENS to cross them..In which case that could have been any other gilseller, or the same guy on another account he woulda bought instead of yours.

And honestly, one more high level gilseller won't change anything. They won't suddenly be able to take down Kirin because of it. Even if they could, they've already become a large enough entity to be considered just another HNM shell to compete with.

I will fly to canada and kill you if you do.

I'd say not to sell it. I have seen people who have gotten a lvl 70+ char, and completely sucked. I know of yer good rep, so, if you do, make sure you clear out yer linkpearls, and all yer Flists.

I also know I built myself a masterful character,

That was kinda cheesey >.>

Anyways I say sell the fucking thing if you know for sure you aren't coming back. Then again it's going to be hard to be a forum member when everyone knows you as RMT/CGS now ingame lol.

Vang you love me and you know it.

I came to the disision of giving it to my 16yr IRL friend kyle. He's my noob. Odon should know him. I dunno what he's going to do with him but that's what I dicided. He can benifit from it, and the 300bucks would rock, but money is money. What evah. If I can bring my noob some happiness than it's fine with me.

He's a good guy, treat him nicely if you see him. I don't think he'll be playing my RDM, he will probably continue with my WHM or level dragoon or samurai, those are his favourite jobs. So don't really worry about him trying to learn how to play a lv74RDM.

Take care guys, i'll still be around no worries.
