I'm supposed to be writing a paper for my class this weekend, and I chose the reductionism topic. For those that don't know, reductionism is the concept that all sciences can be reduced to one discipline. It sounds like an interesting topic until you start reading "proofs":
Anyone else have to deal with this kind of stuff on a regular basis? Also, if you find the above as boring as I do, never ever take a class called "Philosophy of Science".
Thank god this piece is relatively short, cause there's no shortage of content like the above quote. The next one I need to read on anti-reductionsim looks a bit more tolerable so... yay.Take the accepted theories of B(2) at a given time t as T(2). Then B(2) is reduced to B(1) at time t if and only if there is some theory T(1) in B(1) at t such that T(1) reduces T(2). Analogously, if some of the theories of B(2) are reduced by some T(1) belonging to branch B(1) at t, we shall speak of a partial reduction of B(2) to B(1) at t.
