Took me awhile to read 70-80% of this thread since so much of it was off-topic. But I would like to throw my 2 cents in however worthless.
To all the cheaters out there…
You’re not really playing this game. Therefore your life is being utterly wasted. Every hour you spend in FFXI is a wasted hour of your life because you didn’t earn your way through the game like the real players do. And I will preach this message as many times as it takes to help you understand how meaningless it is to gain an unfair advantage over real players. Who cares that you have some ridiculously expensive item? What makes items valuable in this game is not how pretty they look or even their stats. It’s the difficulty it takes to get them. The difficulty is what makes them rare and the rarity that makes them more valuable. If you go through the game with no difficulty then there is NO VALUE. Everything in this game is based on this fundamental principle. Your reward is what you put into this game, not the STOLEN and fabricated “material wealth” you think everyone drools over. That’s not what we as REAL PLAYERS respect; it’s the hard work and effort and SKILL it took to get it even if you farmed crawlers for 3 months to pay for it.
To all the hacker wannabes…
You don’t seem to get it. This game is not a race. When you see a high level player with all that shiny god gear on and equipment that cost millions that person is NOTHING if he or she is not a real player and hasn’t put in the time and effort to earning that stuff. Otherwise it’s just stuff. Having a Scorpion Harness + 1 doesn’t make you talented. And some of the players we respect have been playing for years. That’s why the real ones have stuff you don’t. Don’t think you can skip ahead to compete. That’s not competing. That’s like jumping into a car during a marathon. If you didn’t run it you cannot win it. YOU FAIL. A lot of even us real players may sometimes be tempted but only greed goes through with it. It’s not worth it. Cheating invalidates everything REAL you did in the game. When you cheat you are saying it really doesn’t matter how you obtain something. Again… You’re not really playing anymore at this point. So give up. If you suck at this game then you suck. Learn to live with it, study to improve yourself, get your friends to help, or move on. Why mess up the game for other people because you don’t have the natural ability to compete with them?
see no matter how much people say that, as i remember it. I played the game, it felt like i played, i had fun like i played. I played the game, if it wasnt by your standards thats fine, but i still played how i enjoyed to play.
50% of my career your way, 50% my way. And i enjoyed both ways, just i woudla quit long ago if i kept playin the boring legit way. needed to spice it up and i did.
most posts like this are to make hackers feel bad or get under their skin, when in reality, it doesnt make us feel anything bad about it at all. not saying that to be a smart ass or nothin. im stating that because its true, i read all that and didnt feel the slightest bit hurt or regretful, infact i smiled.
it doesnt matter what it takes to get an item,
no matter how you get it, it feels just as good to get it because you got it either way. i dont care what other people think about my gear, whats important to me is i got the gear I want.
i didnt have tons of pricey flashy gear, but i had the gear i wanted and i loved that.
theres no hacker thats gonna look at this and say...hes right, i should quit cause they say im not playing.
truth is, if you like it or not they are still paying for and playing the game, if by your standards or theirs theres no way the game IS not being played if your sittin there playing it.
