Of Chasym and Ego:
Or, more rightly, of Ego and Chasym. For I am sure the ego is much greater than the man.
I've known Chasym for a long, long time. This being the second of two accounts I've had, I first met Chasym as the Tarutaru Viridian. When I again joined FFXI I met him again as the Hume Benen. When I stopped playing FFXI the second time, I gave my account to an acquaintance of mine, whom some of you knew as Silshade before he sold his account. Some time after giving Sil my account, I got another and became the Tarutaru I play as now. During each of these times, I shared several common friends with Chasym, including Excim, who many of you know. On several occasions, I expressed to Excim, Faule, and even Graydaze my dislike for him, his attitude toward FFXI, and gaming in general.
More than once I've seen him fingered for activities against the FFXI ToS. Each and every time he denied these accusations. Even now, when he has admitted to using hacks, he still only tells half-truths. This is quite normal for him, from what I've seen over the past years. He claims he never used his hacks for personal gain. I've personally seen him spend hours camping monsters to get drops, largely to sell. Granted, most of these times weren't recent, but they certainly happened, and, if Chasym's claims are true, then he was using hacks that entire time, as well.
Chasym, I hope you enjoyed not really doing all the things you claimed to have done in game, because even if you did some things without hacks, the items you had surely came from hack-earned gil, so none of your accomplishments are your own.
As far as Chasym's ousting of others who supposedly hack, I cannot say I'd trust anything coming from a man who isn't even true to himself and his friends. How far can you really trust a person who is already admittedly a liar?
I'd also like to state my opinion on hacking, and cheating in general. As far as hacking in FFXI goes, it's wrong regardless of if you get caught or not. If you can't either find enough friends to help you, or obtain items/gil on your own merits, you shouldn't have it. With the exception of the Elshimo Marble Chasym helped me get, everything I have I owe to good, honest friends, hard work, and love of the game. I think that the folks that say games are designed a way for a reason are right. Not everything is supposed to be easy, or it wouldn't be worth doing.
After all this, I'd still like to say that I wish Chasym, Graydaze, and their children the best in life. Hopefully they'll all realize that there are no shortcuts in the real world.
