I really REALLY need a new Battle music idea

I like to change my battle music once in a while, I've been using XIMC and audio converters a lot lately :P but it seems I'm now short on ideas and that I can't find enough good files to convert, as I'd like to avoid using the same fighting music for every type of fight (zones, party/solo etc). After a couple days trying to find a new sound (Checked some good video game mp3 sites, torrents etc.) I'm about to give up and just use some I made again + the generic ones :/

For now I'm using :
- SO3 - Influence of Truth appearance (might be a wee bit too Epic >.>)
- Xenosaga 3 - The battle of your soul (very good ;) )
I got few lot more stored in backup folders, but they don't fit in as well as these ones do IMO..

I'm pretty sure other players here are using battle themes of their own. Help me pimp my FFXI! :) Just post the titles of the tunes you're using, ideas or links.

Ever listen to the Quake2 soundtrack? If you have the CD you can play it as an audio disc, the tracks are not encoded as data.

It's all instrumentals done by White Zombie. There's some good tunes in there if you like industrial metal sort of sounds.

Half-Life 1 was also a data/audio CD. Most of the music on that CD is suspenseful and slow, but the odd track is fast-paced and good fighting music. All techno-oriented.
 
i usually use stuff from "the black mages" when i play on my 360, its a bunch of classic FF songs revamped, and made to sound more "rock"-ish, its not bad.

www.bluelaguna.net is a great site for finding songs from games.
 
The main theme of Quake 2 is by Rob Zombie, almost everything else is by a group called Sonic Mayhem, which also did the soundtrack for Quake 3.
 
the FF8 dreamworld battle music, if i knew how to change my battle music thats what it would be.
 
I need to get back into this. I havn't changed my music since I got back. I used to use:

"Those Who Fight Further" - Black Mages
"Tikal" E.S. Posthumus

Those were pretty intense stuffs.

Thanks for clarification. So he wasn't involved with the rest of the music, just the theme?
 
I have the opening theme from GaoGaiGar as the solo battle theme. It makes every solo fight I have, from little level 1 bunnies to 5-minute long colibri battles epic.

EDIT: And if/when I ever get Savage Blade I'll have an awesome thing to do when he shouts "DIVIDING CLIMBER!!"

yeah, but not to be confused with the blackmages remix, that would be alittle too heavy for battle music in ffxi, imo

I think I'll be using Blue Blast - Winning the Rainbow from the second Black Mages album (even if the title kinda sounds really, really gay >.>)

As for Quake, I tried to find some mp3s, no success. I'll try a better time to torrent :P

To Aylada : I could only find a remix version of Tikal, I'm sure the original one sounds much better :) If you ever get a link, PM it please!

I'm still digging to find the "perfect sound" I'll post it when I find it.

Edit: Wtf? o_0 My title is "Stampeder" now? lol

Everytime you are in any Dynamis, you can't go wrong if you use some DEPECHE MODE for BGM. ^^

Battle: Dance, Dance from FoB works fine for pumping you up.

Lol, surprised no one is naming songs outside of normal game music. There's alot of good rock songs out there that I think would be good battle music. Hell, only good thing about the movie Scorpion King imo was the main song, and that was used in a video game.

Edit: ok the last 2 posters did mention something other then game music, lol

Problem with that is that you only get to hear the first 10-120 seconds of the song. So you'd engage, hear some lyrics, kill. Music stops. Engage, hear the same lyrics, kill. Music stops.

Lather rinse repeat until you want to format your brain for coming up with the idea of putting non-instrumental songs in as fight music.

Maybe that's just me... I tried it before with some game and the song was just ruined. Enter Sandman to boot, that's not an easy song to get sick of.
 
You can change your battle music ingame? Or do you mean the music you play in the background while you're playing?
 
they mean changing around sound files so you hear music.

Cmdr you can get sick of Enter Sandman.

Ewok it's Bodies by Drowning Pool and Down with the Sickness by Disturbed.

Personally a song I could never get tired of is Spirit Crush by Death. That would be a good song to hear while battling. Just find a way to loop the music I guess if that is possible.

Edit: 5 Minutes by Pantera is also good. If you get through the whole song you know it is taking too long for fights to end.
