I wasn't sure whether INT was a modifier for steal, but I equipped my +3 rings just for shits. Bought a thf kote for 25k, wore my AF pants, lined up behind the old guy and hit the Steal macro... WOOT

Yes, some jobs have two potential ways to defeat Maat. One is a job specific goal and the other is just to melee him until he is defeated. Usually the easiest choice is to do the job specific goal as melee is not possible for some jobs. For thiefs you can steal from Maat and for WHMs you can cure yourself until Maat gets bored punching you in the face. :wacko: Not sure about the rest though.

Out of curiousity, what do you actually steal from him?

Wow...lol. I cant believe I never knew this. I actually just hit 66 myself so....*cracks knuckles and goes out to farm up a Testimony*

you steal a warp scroll *or so i heard*
 
I got a free warp scroll to after defeating the BC, so I assumed Maat gave it to you after as well. Didn't realize thiefs needed to steal it in order to recieve it. -.-

They dont need to...Its a lot easier to steal it instead of killing him though...

I disagree. It's only easier if you actually walk up and hit the steal /ja and steal a scroll from him. If you fail, you basically die, reraise and try stealing again. In this case stealing was easier. I've heard of some really terrible stories with steal. Like 0/20+. ><
Based on that, I chose to melee and be done with it.

If you cap out skills and go in prepared with a plan, he's not all that hard to best.

Lucky i went 1/6 on him. Its super easy to get THF tests though so it did'nt really matter. And funny part was I didnt even know I won because it said i failed but then went to CS. Guess cause i had an instant warp on me.

I've heard if you already have a warp scroll in your inv and try the steal route, you auto-win. No way of verifying this for myself though since thf is only 46.
 
Highly doubtful, but out of curiousity anyone know the alternative way of beating Maat as a RDM, instead of just killing him?
 
LoL.... yeah Myihta, that sucked, but thankfully I had an understanding party at the time.

What happened was I beat Maat, saw my title was Maat Masher, and never went back to talk to him. Next thing I know I'm 1 tnl and saying WTF! Warped back to Jeuno, talked to the bastard, and proceeded to the party again to get my level.
