I should lighten up.

Why don't you tell me exactly WHO I was "tanking" with the thread that I made. You can go look it up now since its back. And who, before Olrox (which was in the proper place) and Dav, was the last person Jamal shit on over good times anyways? Say what it seems like you want to say to me. "Grow up." Then you can move on if you like. I always thought you were a pretty level headed dude so I'm kind of surprised that you think my thread about getting my haidate/n hands (parrying 202!) was MEANT to be an attack instead of just a general joke.

Also, in who's Good Times thread have I actually posted something to humiliate them?

Well, in your regard, it's not you that does the tanking specifically =P. Mind you, as mentioned, I did realize that was a joke, and as I said, it did provide me with a good bit of humor.

It wasn't so much of an attack on my part towards you, as I said, I like both of you, and you are both friends to me. I don't want to tell you to "Grow up" because there isn't any growing to be had. More specifically, I think (and I apologize for the oversight on the post you mentioned, I did just go take a look. Grats on the haidate :P), I was referring to the nature of a post quite a while in reference to Davion.

Mind you, I find Davion to be an annoying guy just like anyone else, but that's purely due to the nature of the posts he makes.

So, in retrospect, sorry I guess. Didn't mean to appear to be giving you grief, was merely curiosity on my part. I'm probably no fun these days, I get no kick out of chiding people..

Morwen, do you really find it necessary to go on a huge, long diatribe like that just to call someone out, for calling everyone out as a whole? I for one, thought you were above that kind of petty drab.

Do I find it necessary to say something when people I give a damn about are being treated poorly? Yeah, actually, I do. I believe that people have been acting imporperly and I explained why I thought so. I explained what I was thinking and what I was feeling, in response to direct quotes from conversation. You know, interactive conversation? Not talking over them, not cutting them off because 'what you say is more important' in your opinion. Actually interacting with it. Forgive me if I'm not just going to shut up and listen or sit quietly and wait for something to drop in my lap as a solution or someone to fix it for me. Your condescending tone is quite amusing, however, especially since I thought you and I were on friendly terms. You seem wise for your years sir, but I find it incredibly naive that you would actually think that I give a damn about your disapproval.

To everyone, as funny as it may be to make fun of those that utilize "Good Times" to share every minor victory moment in the game they have, ever stop and think, "As much as I want to chide this person, maybe I should let them have just have fun, and stop attempting to one-up by downplaying their little moments."? That's a serious question too, let people be as annoying as they want to be, you really don't have to reply... that's the philosophy I use, at least. If it's mundane and I don't give a shit about it, I don't give a shit about it.

Audino, Jamal, you guys are good people, and I enjoy the humor you bring, but when you really just start tanking people for enjoying something and not knowing how to have inner moments of joy rather than express to the world they had fun doing something like they have something physically wrong with their mental stature, I lean more towards wondering why specifically you find it necessary to chide in such a humiliating way.

Maybe I'm an old man at a young age already, so I apologize for the rant. Nothing personal to any of you, but I was indeed curious.

-John

Here's short and sweet for you:

Wow. Take that pseudo-psychological, partonizing harangue and put it in the bin, Dr. Phil. You're no more important than anyone else involved in this conversation but with that attitude, I would deem you less so.

And to be slightly on topic, Good Times is a relative term. We don't need a good times police force telling us what is or isn't worthy of a post. That goes for both sides of the fence imo. (posters/mods) I didn't see a problem with either of the posts that were deleted. Just stuff blown way out of porportion like 90% of everything posted here. XD

One man's trash is another man's treasure. So don't be a dick and piss on someone's parade.

I agree 100%. Like I said before a few posts ago, no one needs to say anything in a GT thread except 'Congratulations' or a few jokes between friends and what not. Friendly banter, thats it. I dont agree with the chiding of GT users, I've used it myself; but with the subject at hand, there wasn't anything wrong with those posts either.

Kind ironic now that I think about it I think I hit 202 parry just as I got PLD my first job to lv 75. That would be double cause for celebration considering it was the highest I'd gotten both atm. :)

So congrats again Aud, I wasnt aware it was a dig at anyone really, I just felt glad someone I know did well at something.

Define parade!

No really, I find it more fun to debate here about it than actually post in people's GT threads when its stupid, but I do it on occassion, but not so much that it gets derailed or anything, its usually pretty low key. Anyways, I still think if people put stupid crap in GT, as subjective as that may be, they should expect people to crap in it. So don't go whining to mods because you don't have self control enough to realize what you are doing before you do it.

Case in point for Trelution's first sentence there: Dejan.

Davion: Keeping your mouth shut about something bothering you is not a good strategy in general. Moreover, your logic about posting what you want is non-unique, meaning it applies to any side.

Maybe sky is not big accomplishment for you, I mean sky is very old and you been around as long as I have so I'm sure you most likely got it about the first week the sky missions came out. That being said sky is not old for everyone. What you might find to be nonsense other find to be gratifying. Honestly think about this with the exception of beating AV(the right way) is there any major accomplishment that has not been done? You act like the good time board see more the 50 post a day. Hell even the event posting board sees more post. I bet if you take out the farewell threads you may even have less then the reality board. Everyone can use some congratulations every now and then. Point being, if we go back in that section we might find your "I got sky, sea, dynamis piece - 5/5, soloed a tough thread". Please give others, the same courtesy that past generations have given you.

Feel the need to respond because Hell wrote something easily readable.

I'm not ragging on things that have never been done, but if it is something that has been done time and time again, put some effort and thought into it and make a decent thread. It isn't unique to good times, people don't tend to appreciate poor posting and saying so is just pointing out the obvious.

I'm sorry I use Davion over and over again. But, that corsair thread was like hey its me, i got to wear a hat, i like it. The whole backstory he provided later would have made the thread more acceptable because it says WHY its significant. Its like any other post, thats nice, tell me why its significant and not wasting space. If you don't its either going to be meh, or its like god this is just stupid. People should do themselves a favor and make good threads.

I've already gone over the dont like it dont read it argument.

Hal: Got ya.

Your condescending tone is quite amusing, however, especially since I thought you and I were on friendly terms.

There was nothing condescending about it, just that it surprised me. You and I are on friendly terms, unless something has changed I don't know about. Don't read too much into that statement as an act of aggression, but rather, a statement of surprise.

I don't make statements on this forum to attempt a first place prize by our peers here, I post when something pops out to me as significant - in other words, non-compulsively - and warrants a response from me.

You seem to think I hold myself higher than people to some degree, by my own decree, and I'm sensing that's due to what you believed was the aggressive nature of my response.

While it may be in my best interest to take my philosophy on situational encounters elsewhere, I'm here for the same reason as you. We all have friends here, and rather than read between the lines, friend, I'd hope you'd see the bigger picture.

It's not exactly appropriate to base your aquired taste for people as a whole on your initial taste for your own actions. No one's attacking you, and I for one, never will. I have no reason to attack people, but I did have a brief moment where I did find it necessary myself to question the nature of the general opposition.

I should have clarified more that I was talking about Good Times mainly. If you dont like what I post in Good Times....then....yeah.....

::beats old drum::

It isn't even about whether I like or dislike what you post in GT. In general, in any forum, if people make bad posts people shouldn't be chided for pointing it out, and it shouldn't have to get moved to the FB unless its a big deal that warrants it being moved.

Fixed for circular logic.

If you absolutely insist that you can't resist publicly pointing out the flaws in someone's GT post then you, the one calling them out, should be constructive and helpful, otherwise gtfo, take it to PMs or FB. I think that is what this is breaking down to here.

People don't like having their mistakes pointed out in front of everyone. In the FB if you f up it should be expected that its gonna be pointed out. it's the nature of the beast, so to speak. The GT board is, guess what, for good times. People don't post in GT because they hope someone will come along to point out that in their opinion their Good time is trivial. And I'm sure they don't want poor grammar or their inability to cohesively word their post.

Basically, take some of your own advice and try to make a decision if you can honestly make a post that is going to be worth while in helping them. If you can't but you have to say something, PM the original poster or flame him. If they care or are interested in your help I'm sure you'll know soon enough.

Ok, this section right above here quoted? Completely fucking unnecessary. Your actions as a moderator should not have to be explained to anyone but the person you're directly fucking dealing with. The above just looks like an excuse to bitch and whine and blame someone else for you not wanting to deal with a job you volunteered for. IF I remember correctly, a job you also gave out your personal email for, so you could better help and accommodate the members of this community. Are you saying, that the infractions system we recently put in place here doesn't count, because it's Jamal? Does he have enough points to warrant a Read-Only status? Or do they add up just because you're sick of listening to someone with a genuine concern and pride for their closest friends accomplishments and has balls enough to stand up and tell people they're wrong or call them our for baiting in topics just like they do to him? Dude didn't cry wolf, he got thrown in the pound for being the wolf that tried to assist Lassie. If Jamal did/does have the points to warrant a month long Read-Only status that is all that should have been mentioned to anyone other than Jamal. What you did was throw his friends under the fucking bus and make yourself a cute little scapegoat. When you are in a position of power, you have to be impartial. You're not being impartial, none of you are. You're jumping on just about anything these guys say. Now, I know for a fact that dealing with Jamal is not an easy thing. I know that just as well, if not better, than any of you. Even I can see this is bullshit. I know I've done the unspeakable, I've actually gotten to know these people and befriend them. Sweet hop-skotching Jesus what have I done!? Oh, thats right, I shed the bias. I got rid of popular opinion and took the time to form my own opinion. Who'd have thought!?!? And hey guess what? He's not a monster and he's not an asshole (mostly >_>; )

I have an idea though. You say you don't want people to think that there's a 'conspiracy theory' about the AG guys... then... why don't you try a cease-fire in hounding their posts and actually attempt dealing with the people that crowd around them and poke them with sticks to try to get recognition as He Who Brought Down the Bear.

Better advice I've never seen. You can take off the read-only status. As I said in the email, 3 wrongs doesn't make a right. You deleted Will's thread, realized it was a mistake and put it back. You deleted Aud's thread, realized it was a mistake and put it back. My repercussions were because of the mistakes you had made. You can give me back my normal status now so that I can actually participate in the boards.

Again, as I've said before, don't take it out on me that the moderators messed up by deleting two threads that didn't warrant deletion. Temporary or not, they shouldn't have been deleted. I went ballistic, which was warranted. Now that the threads are back, my reason to bitch is gone. End this please.

Oh and again, still waiting for an answer from anyone...besides davion and olrox (who was properly flamed) when was the last time I went off on someone for a good times post?

Everyone keeps saying I "Always" do it, show me proof, tell me when I've done it last.

I'm not on jamal's dick or anything but I lol'd when I noticed this:

1. I can resist, others can resist. The point is people who want to, should be able to, without being moderated. And no, its not what this is breaking down to. If one is to go around saying to exercise caution and restraint, tell that to some people in GT. Obviously, I'm not saying people can go around like retards and make obvious personal attacks without any forethought and thats ok, that would be stretching my point. Not saying people believe I advocate this, just watching my back.

2. People come on the flameboard expecting to make a point, not to get ridiculed, that just happens to occur because they fail. In the same way people go into the GT forum trying to post a GT, but many of them fail, and people point that out. I understand many people believe fail is subjective. And I agree, but what I argue is that bad threads become bad threads because of how they were made, and attract people who point that out with regularity inside that thread. So it seems some people in general have a vague idea of what is or is not a good thread.

3. Look what I posted about Davion's thread not too long ago. He gave a story behind it in the FB, and I mentioned that the thread wouldn't have just been "look at me" and no substance in entertainment even. There, there is my proactive advice.

lol im not quite sure i understand Jamal's read only status... Does it get taken off when he wants to post something? Or is it a switch that he can flip on and off. I WANT A SWITCH LIKE THAT IF I CAN CONTROL IT!

I'm pretty sure he can only post in the FB?

He can send posts to administration for approval for them to post it. As far as I know, they've approved all of them which makes this Read-Only bullshit not only stupid, but fucking pointless.

My bad. I've just been informed that not ALL of them have gone through and the ones that did go through, only moderators were online and no admins.

hm i see. Well if thats the case, I don't want that kind of switch >.>;
