First pic was a PrintScreen, second I took with digital camera. He appeared so fast, waved, bowed, and disappeared. Couldnt even do a /check. I regret that.
Anyway, what happened was...
/em pulls up a chair.
Im in Southern San D'Oria, doing business at the Auction House. As usual, noobs are shouting random crap. Being as bored as I was, I decided to jump in, with some "noob talk." Gidion decides he's the hall monitor and tries to get everyone to stop talking, saying he's a GM, and threatening to "remove me from the sever." Valjean sends a tell, asking if he's still being an ass, and we both decide to report him for impersonating a GM. [GM]Teelow says in /shout, "the issue of GM impersonation has been taken care of. please drop the subject. thank you." Everybody who was shouting to tell the idiots to STFU stopped, said thank you, and began
to admire being a GM.
Minutes later, while I was chatting with Armi about what happened, Im in my Mog House, making sure that I'm equipped properly to slay Orcs for a few hours. Maybe 30 seconds after I mention Teelow, he sends a tell. and this conversation started: http://img69.exs.cx/img69/1998/Teelow.jpg
[GM]Teelow showing himself: http://img30.exs.cx/img30/7258/TeelowInTheFlesh.jpg
I was pretty astonished, and learned a few things about GMs:
While not being GMs, they DO have their own characters that they play with (for fun).
This im not completely sure of, but by what he said about showing himself, I can assume that he plays FFXI using a similar client as the players. The only exception I can think of, is: That his client has a Japanese IME built in; He can warp around and spawn anywhere he needs to; Judging by how he looked, no monster was a threat to him.
Now, based on what I have seen and heard, I can assume that an FFXI client that l33t would not be allowed to be installed at home. He likely goes to some Squeenix building. But that is so damn cool...
