So. i was told that Warriors are given a chance around level 35 or so to become a tank or a DD. ive chosen DD im currently using a Great axe but i was talking to a JP friend the other day and he said that all his war friends use Polearms i was wondering what you guys would think of that.

Pole Arms.....

Stick to an axe!

In order to use a polearm like your Japanese friends, you must first have the ACCURACY of your Japanese friends before attempting to use WS like penta-thrust....which has been known to be attrocious for IT's

But dog-gonnit like a biscuit on a hot easter sunday those Japanese do killer damage with that peacock charm and sniper ring + 1's....

*HOWEVER* I would highly reccomend going with what Sabia said at lvl 55 or so (whenever you get rampage, because that is the real way to go!)

Great Axe is the way to go. Raging Rush at level 55. And Double Attack with a Great Weapon? Oh yeah...

Isn't Raging Rush 60? Rampage (1h axe) is 55, I believe.

I'd go with Great Axe as main weapon, but also try to keep one hand axe leveled, too. Warriors are awesome with both types of axes.

On another note, I was in a jp party around 52 or so when I was thf. It was a really strange setup: nin tank, war dd, pld healer (whm sub), rdm debuff/nuke/support, thf (me), and brd. The party was awesome, and the war was doing over 400 on IT mobs with pentathrust, so if you have good gear, this works out very well.

...and end game, you'll eventually want to start leveling one hand sword for spirits within.

Well.... to be a Great WAR, I would suggest having all your weapons leveled, Sword, Dagger, Axe, Great Axe, Polearm, Scythe, Great Sword, Club, and Staff. (Hand to Hand isn't a "weapon" that's why they rate D in it) WAR rates A in the Axes, B in all other weapons, and can earn the quest WS for each one...

WAR/NIN with capped Sword and Club
Equips Dainslaf in main hand, Kraken Club in the off hand.
Massive TP Build, Spamming Savage Blade
one word. Nice.

(This isn't my idea, but a friends. Mithe, Good luck to you!)

As was already stated, Gaxe and Axe are the main priority. However, Polearm isnt a bad toy to have handy because it simply owns anything that flies.

yah cuz for my GA i was in a pt the other day and i was doing more then the drg. i was doing around 200dmg ws. and 100dmg average. in quicksand caves.

batash I really wouldn't base it off one experience. My side job static which levels for fun has a drg. He's hit 350+ double thurst several times 38-40, and they weren't always flying mobs either. Point being you don't compare yourself to someone that has crappy equips.

Anyway here's my thoughts.

war/thf-Greataxe

War/nin-dual axes

And as a 3rd optionary weapon go with polearm. Reason being it lets you work better with thf in SC. This is importent because thief is heavily based around SC ending, but of course not required for the war. But you might get more invites with the option of polearm(as well as your axe).

And the sword idea for endgame sounds good but I wouldn't worry about that now. It's one of the faster weapons to skill up and if you get to 75, then you can worry about it.

I'd definitely try and keep your axes capped though, your endgame SCs will 'always' be using axes in xp situations.

war should honestly have every weapon lvled '-' you guys are the jack of all trades of the game... at least keep G.axe and 1handed axe lvled ^^;;; having many subs to choose from is good too, flexability is your greatest strength.

I am gonna say spend you big gil on a nice great axe and keep a decent version of all the rest around.

aite thxs. ill keep the Great Axe and keep a Polearm weapon around :) cuz i needed the polarm to do Distortion with the thief's. because i was told that it's needed for all the mobs and stuff. plz say something if im wrong though -_-

I would suggest Great Sword rather then Polearm, Warriors rating is a bit higher in it which means you will get WSs earlier and have more acc on your attacks. ^^;

here are the stats for warrior on different Weapon Skills:

H2H: D
Dagger: B-
Sword: B
Great Sword: B+
Axe: A-
Great Axe: A+

Scythe: B+
Polearm: B-
Club: B-
Staff: B
All ranged weapons: D

ps: i like colors '-'

lol thxs. this is giving me a different perspective on warriors. I thought i knew what i was doing. but now i know that that i didnt know as much about warriors as i did. thxs so all i can say is thxs for the replys

Raging Rush and Rampage are both 175 skill. Warrior has a A+ in Great Axe, and an A- in 1h axe, so it's possible you might actually get Raging Rush a tiny bit earlier than Rampage.

I'm 175 in both Great Axe and one handed Axe and I don't have them yet. Raging Rush is level 200, Weapon Break is 175. Warriors should learn it at 60.

For weapons, I keep to dual one handed axes, with Great Axe from time to time. I'm also working on leveling my Great Sword and one handed sword skills. Although, the axes are my priority. I say just stick with Great Axe for now, unless you really want to level polearm.

I'm not surprised the Brady Guide was wrong...

I'd just like to say Scypio uses the normal war weapon but when we had a THF and I asked he grabbed a GSD from the AH and did very good starting distortion. I would definetly say GAX, 2 1h axe and a GSD is a good idea. I wound up using GSD almost exclusively on my way to 37 cause of THFs.

Just another little point, I'd say GSD for WAR is a must because of the high chance a decent WAR party will include a THF, either to use THF to keep hate on war tank or to use war to backup tank with THF. Someone to SATA to or someone to voke first depending on situation. Either way, GAX and AXE can't start distrition and therefore can't make a decent chain pre66. THF without ending skillchain is useless. Then again I think it can make something else with viper but it's not distortion and it's level 1.

I just have to say I love this thread!!! Thanks guys, for all your input so far and please keep it goin'!!!!
