Backround: I am the head sales manager for a Scion dealership.

Phone rings..

Me: This is ***** can I help you?

Guy: Hi, my car just got rear-ended, can you tell me how much that will cost me to fix it?

Me: Umm... yeah.. well.. for one.. I can't see your car... and for two.. this is the sales department.

Guy: Oh.. ok.. what should I do then?

Me: Umm.. take it to a bodyshop?

Guy: Ok. Do they have parts for it?

Me: Well, they get parts from a parts department.

Guy: Ahhh.. ok... well, Can you give me any idea what it will cost?

Me: Umm.. no, no idea. We sell them, not fix them. Good luck though!

Is it just me, or what?

I wonder if that is the same lady that keeps calling me. She wants a price on fixing her phone system and we keep telling her we can’t give her a price till we look at it and find out what is wrong.

Oh oh, me next

I was on my lunch break and just chilling in the lounge, which we call "The Break Room".

Me: *answers phone* break room

Guy: yes, how much would it cost to fix my brakes?

Me: Hmmm, this is the lounge, let me transfer you to automotive repair.

Yeah, I know its not god awful funny, but it was a good laugh for me.

I also hate it when people call the electronics dept. asking if we repair TVs, VCRs, and game systems.

Not same theme but this hpapend to me recently

Me: Hello?
Guy: Is john there?
Me: Sorry you have the wrong number.
Guy: but this is john's number I'm sure it is, are you sure you don't know john?
Me: I know a a john, but he's never even seen my phone...
Guy: What does he look like

--- this goes on for like soooo long I dunno why I never just hanged up, he was convinced this was his friend's number ---

Guy: Oh ok, maybe I did get the wrong number, sorry bye
Me: bye

I got shit all the time when I worked at a Sears.

Customer: Do you guys sell cars here?
Me: *looks around* Er......not as such, sir, no.
Customer: *leaves in a huff*

or

Customer: Hey, can you guys put racing stripes on my refrigerator?
Me:*looks for hidden camera* Er....sorry, we don't....detail appliances.

or, my favorite phone call ever

Me: Sears, Joel speaking, can I help you?
Customer: YOU TELL YOUR DEVIL BOSS TO GIVE ME BACK MY LAUNDRY CENTER!!!
Me: He's not here at the moment...uh....*flounders* can I take a message?
Customer: I KNOW WHAT HE'S UP TO, AND HE'S NOT GETTING AWAY WITH IT?
Me: *passes the phone to the other guy up there, who takes it into the bathroom*
Him: HELLO?!?!HELLO!?!?! THIS IS SATAN! WHO IS THIS?!?!?!
Customer: gulp *click* bzzzzzz

I don't know what was wrong with that lady. I do applaud my co-workers efforts; she never called back.

tff

Good ones guys. Made my morning so far.

When I worked as a manager at Blockbuster during college, I would get a few of these A DAY:

Me: Thank you for calling the Plainfield Blockbuster where we are open until midnight, how can I help you?
A-Hole: How late are you open?

Now I get:
Me: Thank you for calling Expert Fence, how may I help you?
Them: I need an estimate on one of those fences black people use.... :x

How do you even answer that?

In my head I am just repeating "keep acting and it will one day pay off...keep acting and it will one day pay off...no more office jobs....no more office jobs....

Best ones at my job have been not from phone calls, but idiot customers who made me and my friend laugh.

One day a kid and his parents come into the store, and the kid starts to look at some headsets for the Xbox....

Me:Hello, need help with anything?

Kid: OH, OH, MOM, BUY ME THE HEADSET FOR THE XBOX!

<Mom looks at headset, 20 bucks>

Mom: Not buying that, pick something else.

Kid: MOM, PLEASE, I WANT IT!

Me: Well, the headset is mainly for playing Xbox Live, thats about it.

Kid: Xbox Live, whats that?

Me: It's the Xbox online service, to play games like Halo 2 online.

Kid: I don't play games online.

Me: Then why do you want a headset, who would you be talking to on the other end?

<Akward silence>

<Dad bursts out laughing at his son in background, I walk away to help another customer, kid has a dumbfounded look on his face>

Next one was just too stupid. Some guy comes in the store, wants to trade in some games, we give him the final estimate, like 20 bucks for 4 games, he wasn't happy with that, walks around the store looking at stuff. Me and my friend help out someone else, then he comes back with 4 cases, cases for the same 4 games he wants to trade in.

Customer: Whats the deal with the bullshit, you giving me 5 dollars for a game, and you sellin it used for 15.

Me: Sorry sir, I don't set the prices, the company sets the trade in prices and also it depends on quantity.

Customer: Bullshit, you should be selling the game for the same price your buying it for.

Me: Sorry sir, I can't change the prices, its your decision to trade them in or not.

<Friend comes back from helping another customer>

Friend: Need any help?

Me: Customer wanted to know why we sells games at this price yet trade them in at the lower price.

Friend: Yeah, its called PROFIT, look it up.

<Customer walks out of store pissed>

Me: Another satisfied customer.

I get a lot of good ones doing promotions for Nintendo...one of my faves.

"I think my copy of Soul Calibur is broken, I can't unlock Link"

"Uhmmm Link isn't unlockable, he comes unlocked in the game - you can play him right from the get go"

"Well then why isn't he on my copy?"

*thinks to herself"

"What system did you purchase soul calibur on?"

"X-box"

Or...."Why Doesn't Nintendo put *link/mario/SSBM/Metroid* On X-Box?"

Like holy crap! Use your brain!!!

Back in high school, '94-'96, I worked at Rally's (they seem to be called Checkers elsewhere) and people were just retarded.

Me: Hello! Thank you for choosing Rally's. May I take your order?

Dumbass: Ummmmm. Ahhhhh. Ermmm. Yes. Can I get a cheeseburger <i enter in cheeseburger> without cheese.

Me in my head: Gahhhhhhh!
Me: Sorry sir I will have to start your order over. You want a hamburger right?

Dumbass: *sigh* No! <anger, irritation in his voice> I want a cheeseburger without cheese.

Eventually I just started leaving it as a cheeseburger without cheese and just charged them $1.29 instead of $1.05. (cheeseburguer =1.29 hamburguer = 1.05 hence the fact that I would have to restart the order)

Anyways that was frustrating. Along with people saying that they wanted a Coke (generic term for soda) to drink and when you give them a Coke (brand name) they say that they wanted a Sprite/Lemonade/ect.

[fear + loathing in las vegas allusion] I want a glass of ice water with ice![/allusion]

I used to get really persistent wrong numbers at my old place because my phone number was frighteningly close to a local walk in clinic. So every once in a while I'd get calls from people trying to book appointments.

One can imagine the fun I had with people trying to make appointments very sure they dialed the correct number.

but my personal favourite will always be one night a girl called me from what I guessing was a bar or a raucous house party trying to get what I assumed was her boy friend on the line . . . as it turns out . . . people can't take a good cannibal joke

I think my favorite phone call at Comic City was...

Me: Hello, Comic City...
Some kid: How much is a spiderman comic?
Me: *Blinks...* Well it depends, which one?
Some kid: Any one.
Me: There's 6 different Spiderman titles currently running, all with a different price...then of course if you wanted to buy a back issue they range anywhere from 1 and 10 dollars...
Kid: Oh...*hangs up*

God! That's like calling a car dealer ship and saying "How much are red cars?"

My favorite at Domino's when i worked there.

Customer or whoever: "Yes id like two hand-tossed pizzas one with half pepperoni, half green pepper and the other with half pepperoni and half green pepper"

Me: "How about one just pepperoni and the other just green pepper."

Customer: "Oh yeah, just do that, didn't think of it that way."

And thats the degree of seperation between you and intelligence.

Mattaru, I loved that pizza thing! :)

I have some many, here are a few.

Back when I was selling ice cream at Laura Secord:

Phone rings
Me: Laura Secord Place Fleur de Lys (shopping mall name), can I help you?
Lady: Yes, can I speak with Gertrude.
Me: I'm sorry, there is no Gertrude here.
Lady: Are you sure? I dialed xxx-xxxx
Me: Yes I am sure, but that number is Laura Secord and there is no Gertrude here.
Lady: Well then, what is Gertrude's phone number?
Me: ......
Hangs up!

I also had clients wanting to return their ice cream because the cone was crakced or they just did not like the flavor they picked. I even had one that wanted to exchange it cause it was melting. I kid you not!

Then I started working in a collector shop (cards, memorabillia, comics, stamps, coins, etc.) That one was funny, just funny cause the kid was sure I knew what he meant.

Kid: Do you buy back cards of Patrick Roy?
Me: Yes, we do sometime.
Kid: I have one at home, how much would you give me?
Me: Well it depends, which one is it? Thre are a lot of Patrick Roy's cards
Kid: You know, it's the one where he does this!!!!!

At this point, he is in a goaltender position, hands in the air looking at it, one knee on the ground and I can't see him anymore over the counter....

Me: Oh yes, I know that one (right), bring it, I'll see what I can do.
Kid: ALLRIGHT!!!!

Then he just leaves, well more like run out of the store. Hey, he was happy, but I never saw him back! :)

Another few I remember.

So it was kind of late and I was willing to take a risk and not just give into the customer in this incident.

Me: Thank you for calling Domino's blah blah blah @ blah.
Customer: Yes, I recieved a thin crust pizza and it was burnt.
Me: Can I get your phone #.
*I look it up and we sent a thin crust out not to long ago*
I go ahead and offer to replace it and she decides to go on some rant, in which she mentions:
"I get Domino's thin crusts alot and they are always really good but this makes me just not want to be a customer here anyomore."
Me: "Well is this the first time you have really had a problem with our pizzas"
Customer: "Yes, usually they are fine"
Me: "So why would after one experience that is bad compared to a multitude of good would you know longer want to be a customer"
She pretty much just dodged the question and got her remake.
The thought in the back of my mind the whole time is the idea of a burned pizza. When the oven is set, it stays like that until changed, which is hardly ever, if one thin crust is burnt, all of them are burnt. I'm sorry if it is a bit crisp, but you seem to be the only person among hundreds a day that think they are burnt. Stop being a picky shit.

Also at Domino's, like alot of pizza places around us,we have a delivery fee of like a dollar. On many occasions when I read the cost of everything at the end and mention the delivery fee a conversation would ensue as to why we had it, and I gave my reasoning. Many people were fine with it, but there are always the few:
Customer: "Well I'm not going to pay some stupid delivery fee I'm calling Papa John's"
Me: "Ok, they have a delivery fee as well."
Customer: "......asshole" *click*
Sorry, sir/m'am, that makes you the asshole.
